Customer Shocked to Discover Dashcam Cables Disconnected at Service Center; Playback Reveals the Truth Behind Unprofessional Behavior

A Chachoengsao service center staff deliberately disconnected a customer's dashcam cables during an electric vehicle inspection, with footage later revealing unsafe driving practices and unprofessional behavior during test drives.

30 Apr Khaosod

On April 30, 2026, Facebook user Suriya Sudsanit posted about a disappointing experience after bringing his electric vehicle to a service center in Chachoengsao province for a mileage check and to diagnose a noise from the undercarriage. After driving approximately 100 kilometers from the service center, he discovered that both the front dashcam and interior cabin camera had their power cables completely disconnected. Upon learning of the disconnection, he reviewed the security footage and found three concerning incidents:

Incident 1: Staff members deliberately disconnected the customer's cameras while laughing and making comments as if the customer wouldn't find out.

Incident 2: During test drives, technicians failed to wear seatbelts, used mobile phones while driving, and did not properly listen to diagnose the noise problem, initially unable to identify the source.

Incident 3: Staff members used foul language inside the vehicle, including derogatory remarks and unclear references.

The vehicle underwent four test drive rounds total, with the noise issue finally identified during the fourth round when the owner was present. Previously, the customer had shown confidence in the service center, even providing refreshments to the team as they worked. However, after viewing the footage, the customer felt deeply disappointed and requested that the service center management investigate the matter and address the staff's unprofessional conduct.

Chaya Flags Royal Rainmaking Director's Resignation as Significant Issue, Insists Department Is Not a Tool for Distorted Policy

Former Agriculture Minister Chaya Promma has publicly condemned the resignation of Royal Rainmaking Department Director Rachen Silparaya, who cited inability to comply with political directives as his reason for stepping down. Chaya emphasized that the department exists to serve the monarchy and address drought issues, not to be used as a political tool. The remarks underscore ongoing tensions between government agencies and political pressures within Thailand's administrative structure.

30 Apr Khaosod

On April 30, 2025, Chaya Promma, former agriculture and cooperatives minister, posted remarks regarding Rachen Silparaya, director of the Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation Department, who submitted his resignation after being transferred to serve as ministry inspector. Silparaya cited his inability to comply with political directives as the reason for stepping down. Chaya stressed this is not a minor matter and should not be dismissed.

As someone who previously oversaw this agency, Chaya stated plainly that the Royal Rainmaking Department has no duty to serve policies that deviate from principle. Instead, its mission is to continue the royal initiative to address drought and support farmers nationwide. "Royal rain is the king's rain, and every drop of water is the people's livelihood," Chaya said, emphasizing that this work represents loyalty to the monarchy, not a political tool.

Chaya sent words of encouragement to all civil servants at the Royal Rainmaking Department who continue to uphold what is right and fulfill their duties with a spirit of sacrifice, calling them true servants of the crown working genuinely for the people.

SCG Controls Costs to Weather Crisis, Shows Strong 17% Growth in Adjusted Cash EBITDA

Siam Cement reported 6.223 billion baht in first-quarter profit with adjusted cash EBITDA up 17%, achieving over 4.3 billion baht in cost savings through strict controls amid global economic uncertainty and energy price volatility.

30 Apr Khaosod

Thammasak Setrathum, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG), revealed that the company achieved 6.223 billion baht in profit for the first quarter of 2025, with sales revenue of 123.327 billion baht. Adjusted Cash EBITDA—excluding inventory adjustments, impairments, and non-recurring items—reached 14.929 billion baht, a 17% increase.

Amid Middle East tensions driving volatility in energy and raw material prices, which impact the global economy including Thailand and multiple industries, SCG has implemented proactive strategies to absorb and manage the situation. In the short term, the company operates a Daily War Room command center to monitor and manage raw material costs and energy expenses, address oil supply shortages through improved energy efficiency and alternative energy sources, reduce transportation costs, and maintain strict fiscal discipline through restructuring and discontinuing unprofitable operations.

"These measures have achieved cost savings exceeding 4.3 billion baht, while working capital increased by 2.438 billion baht. Capital expenditure was controlled at 5.482 billion baht, reducing net debt by 2.813 billion baht. The net debt-to-EBITDA ratio improved to 5.0 times from 5.5 times. Financial position remains stable with 67.137 billion baht in cash reserves," the company stated.

For the 2025-2026 two-year plan, SCG focuses on building competitive strength through diverse production bases across ASEAN, improving manufacturing efficiency and product quality—projected to reduce costs region-wide by approximately 3.3 billion baht annually. The LSPE project at Long Son Petrochemicals in Vietnam, launching late 2025, will enhance feedstock flexibility and is expected to generate 6 billion baht in annual cost savings.

The company is pushing green products, quality goods at competitive prices, and high-value-added products while pursuing a strategic joint venture in olefins and polyolefins between GC and SCGC, expected to conclude by third quarter 2025. SCG is also advancing its integrated clean energy business to reduce costs and fossil fuel volatility. While closely monitoring global developments, the company remains confident in its strong financial position, adequate cash reserves, and capacity for sustained long-term growth.

Watch Out: Mount Backs Man United to Win Premier League Title Next Season

Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount believes the club has the quality and mental strength to win the Premier League title next season, despite being without a league championship for over 13 years.

30 Apr Khaosod

Mason Mount, Manchester United midfielder, believes the "Red Devils" have the quality and mental strength to claim the Premier League title next season. United have gone without a league championship for over 13 years since the Sir Alex Ferguson era. However, this season under Michael Carrick's management, the "Red Devils" have improved significantly, sitting third in the table and needing just one more win from their remaining four games to secure Champions League football next season. Mount recently expressed his belief that United have the potential to win the Premier League next season. "I've already won the UEFA Champions League, so my goal is to win the Premier League. Can we do it? I think we can," Mount stated. "It might seem a bit far away, but you need a strong mentality to push yourselves as a team. We've already shown what we can do against big teams like Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal, so we've proven ourselves." He added: "Now the goal is to do it on a bigger stage like the Champions League and be more consistent in the Premier League. I hope to play a significant role in taking us forward next season. That's my goal—I want to win the Premier League." Mount has served as a backup player for Manchester United this season due to injury troubles, having made only 10 starting league appearances out of 20 matches.

Big Mhong Re-elected for Third Term as Squash Association President with Club Support

Chalitrat Jantarubeeksa won re-election for a third term as Thai Squash Association president and plans to hire a Pakistani coach to strengthen the national team ahead of September's Asian Games in Japan.

30 Apr Khaosod

Chalitrat Jantarubeeksa, known as "Big Mhong," has been re-elected for a third term as president of the Thai Squash Association, Royal Patronage. He is prepared to continue developing youth squash athletes from the regions and will introduce a Pakistani foreign coach to reinforce the national team.

The Thai Squash Association, Royal Patronage, held its 2026 annual general meeting on April 30 at the Fueang Fah Conference Room, Golden Tulip Sofferine Hotel in Bangkok. The key agenda item was electing a new association president following the completion of Chalitrat Jantarubeeksa's second term. The election proceeded smoothly, with Chalitrat being the sole nominee for a third term and receiving unanimous support from club members within minutes.

Chalitrat expressed gratitude to all club members, the committee, staff, and athletes who supported his nomination. He committed to fully executing his duties to advance Thai squash sports. He will continue the existing policy of expanding and developing squash as a grassroots sport among youth to develop more athletes. The association has faced a shortage of competitive athletes, limiting options for international advancement. In the past year, the association has partnered with multiple educational institutions and schools, allocating budget to build squash courts at educational facilities for training young athletes. Most recently, courts were donated to a school in Sangkhla Buri, Kanchanaburi Province.

Chalitrat noted that while the association was fortunate to receive budget support from PTT Oil and Retail Company (OR), funding remains insufficient for continuous development, particularly in youth athlete creation. He pointed out that the main issue is inadequate state support through the Sports Development Fund and Thailand Sports Authority, with all sports associations experiencing budget cuts and insufficient funding for both national and international competitions. Nevertheless, the association will continue progressing and developing.

Akkarin Hiranyaprueksa, secretary-general of the Thai Squash Association, outlined the association's plans for the year. Beyond expanding youth athlete development, a key priority is sending athletes to compete at the Asian Games in Japan in September. The association has hired a Pakistani foreign coach, recognized for developing Malaysian squash athletes to continental prominence. He will oversee Thai athletes for six months through the Asian Games, helping develop technique, establish training systems, prepare teams, and advance athletes to the international level. If results are positive, collaboration may extend through the SEA Games in Malaysia in two years.

Mari Ruumet's Path to Becoming the First 112-Pound Rajadamnern Champion

Estonian fighter Mari Ruumet defends her historic Rajadamnern 112-pound women's title against challenger Jitti Manpommaymuaythaigym this Saturday, May 2, in only the second title fight in the division's history.

30 Apr Khaosod

Mari Ruumet's path to becoming the first Rajadamnern champion in the 112-pound women's division has been anything but easy.

This Saturday, May 2, the RWS event opens May's action with a heated main event: a women's 112-pound Rajadamnern title defense between current champion Mari Ruumet and challenger Jitti Manpommaymuaythaigym, a skilled fighter crowned champion at the Muaythai Soft Power Championship.

This marks only the second title defense in the division's history. The belt was established earlier this year, with its first champion crowned at the RWS event on February 28, when Mari Ruumet defeated Saidania Lukthraigongdin to become the division's inaugural champion in magnificent fashion.

Mari's Muay Thai journey began at age 15, when she asked her parents to move to Thailand so she could pursue the sport—a childhood dream inspired by the legendary champions Buakaw Banchamek and Saenchai PK.Saenchai. Nine years have passed since that decision, filled with both triumphs and disappointments. Before claiming the 112-pound title, she suffered a heartbreaking loss to Brazilian fighter Barbara Aguiar in a 118-pound title challenge, an early setback that tested her mentally.

But she persevered. In her most recent fight, Mari not only became the first 112-pound women's champion, she also made history as the first Estonian to win a Rajadamnern title. She acknowledges the difficulty of her journey: "I asked my parents to move to Thailand when I was 17 because I wanted to train Muay Thai and achieve success like Buakaw and Saenchai. Becoming a Rajadamnern champion wasn't easy, and the real challenge now is maintaining the title and staying at the top for as long as possible."

This Saturday, May 2, Mari begins her first title defense against Jitti. There's no room for surrender or retreat on either side—both fighters share the same goal: to reach the pinnacle of the Rajadamnern stage and claim the championship. This fight is guaranteed excitement. Don't miss it!

Om Pundalop Announces Half Nine GROUP's Philosophy of 'Equal Partnership' Between Record Labels and Artists

Om Pundalop formally launched Half Nine GROUP, a music management company that operates on the principle of equal partnership between record labels and artists. The company unveiled four subsidiary labels managing 35 artists, each with distinct musical identities, while ensuring artists retain full ownership of their creative works. Om emphasized the company's commitment to adapting to evolving media landscapes and providing tailored support suited to each artist's unique identity and potential.

30 Apr Khaosod

Half Nine GROUP officially launched with Om Pundalop Prasanrajakit at the helm, sharing the company's vision and role in advancing the music industry. The announcement event, titled 'Half Nine GROUP: INTO THE OTHER HALF,' took place at One Bangkok Forum and introduced 35 artists under four subsidiary record labels, each with distinct musical direction and identity to support artist diversity and current market demands.

The four labels are MACHg, managed by Kong Huairai and Bank Ratvichaya; Ennead, managed by Om Pundalop and Pond Krit; 9 Arkkhan, managed by Chai Ichkorn; and BRIDGE, overseen by Om Pundalop.

Om expressed enthusiasm about the venture, stating he wanted to pursue ideas fully without hesitation and felt fortunate to have partners who understand the vision and work toward the same direction. He emphasized that the organization brings together differences harmoniously.

Half Nine GROUP operates on the philosophy that record labels and artists are equal partners supporting one another, with all creative works remaining fully owned by the artists. The label functions as a behind-the-scenes mechanism, establishing systems and building capacity to push artists to their highest potential. The company believes artists with different approaches deserve tailored management and administrative support suited to their individual identity, direction, and capabilities.

Om mentioned Flure as a surprise artist addition and noted that in the first year, the company plans to focus on solidifying management of current artists rather than expanding significantly due to substantial financial investment required. While there is interest from other potential artists, the company is assessing capacity first to ensure full commitment to artist welfare.

Regarding changing artist-label dynamics, Om acknowledged that problems exist in every era but emphasized the company's readiness to adapt as media formats, culture, and platforms continuously evolve. On intellectual property rights, he confirmed that songwriters and creators own their own works, though he was addressing questions about the investment model and creator ownership when the text was cut off.

Channel 7HD is rolling out its latest addition, "Noon Entertainment Talk," a program designed to deep-dive into trending topics and conduct live interviews with current celebrities, viral social media personalities, and entertainment figures while exploring societal issues and sharing inspiring perspectives from special guests.

The show marks the first collaboration between two distinctly different but chemically compatible hosts: Champ Srananphat Tangphaisalthonkul, the hot young news anchor making a significant career pivot from news reporting to full-time talk show hosting, pairs with Paew Duangjai Soatyit, a seasoned entertainment journalist and former entertainment news editor who now runs the popular podcast "Duangjai Story," guaranteeing entertainment value and substance.

Champ expressed his excitement about the new role: "I'm thrilled to do this show because I've wanted to host an interview program for a long time. But this isn't a news-style interview show—'Noon Entertainment Talk' is much more open. I follow social media news closely, and now that I'm a host, I'll be able to ask the things I'm curious about, drawing on my journalism skills." Swedish man creates fake Pattaya hotel site to demand payments from guests

A Swedish-Finnish IT specialist has been arrested in Chonburi for creating fake hotel websites to trick guests into paying fake damage claims, defrauding over 35 people of approximately 100,000 baht.

30 Apr Khaosod

CHONBURI — Thai cyber police have arrested a 42-year-old Swedish-Finnish man for allegedly hacking hotel systems and running a phishing scam that tricked dozens of guests into transferring money for fake damage claims.

At around 14:00 on 29 April 2026, the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), or cyber police, announced the arrest of Mikael Toni Kristian at a residence in Tambon Takhian Tia, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi. Officers seized 25 items of evidence, including computers, hard drives and mobile phones.

Police said the suspect, an IT specialist who has lived with his Thai wife—an employee at a hotel in Pattaya—for over eight years, allegedly used his access knowledge to obtain customer database information.

According to investigators, he then created fake websites and email accounts impersonating the hotel, sending messages to guests claiming they had damaged hotel property and were required to pay compensation. Victims, both Thai and foreign tourists, reportedly transferred money believing the claims were genuine.

Authorities said more than 35 people were affected, with total damages estimated at around 100,000 baht. The hotel later filed a complaint, leading to the investigation and arrest.

Police have urged potential victims to come forward and file complaints with the cyber police, while also advising travellers to verify any suspicious payment requests directly with hotels before transferring money.
