Revealed: Why Celebrity Couple Who Just Got Engaged Last Year Broke Up, Woman Is Half-Thai

A celebrity couple who got engaged last year has broken up due to mounting expectations and differing perspectives on key issues as they approached marriage, according to a Facebook investigation.

1d ago Khaosod

A popular Facebook page has revealed why a celebrity couple broke up just a year after getting engaged, despite appearing deeply in love, with the woman identified as half-Thai. According to the 'Auntie Next Door' page, which claims to use 'fifth precept meditation' to investigate, the woman is indeed half-Thai but appears somewhat Thai-featured. Last year, the man proposed with a 'lucky number 7 ritual', and both appeared very happy together. The woman's family also seemed delighted with the match—they were beautiful, wealthy, handsome, and appeared to be a well-suited, warm family. Yet eventually they broke up. The auntie summarized that despite their obvious love, as they approached marriage, their expectations and desires increased significantly, leading to mounting relationship problems. Both confirmed there was no third party involved, but rather mutual misunderstanding and differing perspectives on key issues. The auntie mentioned that wealthy people sometimes clash over financial matters. She declined to elaborate further, suggesting they would speak for themselves when ready, noting both are currently very busy with tours and performances, so she's giving them space to heal. The comments section has many people claiming to know who the couple is, though some are still guessing and asking for more hints.

1d ago Khaosod

Three Thai children aged 5, 11, and 12 who were deceived by a Buddhist monk into ordination as novices and defrauded in Malaysia have safely returned to Thailand on May 18, 2569, bringing joy to their parents and guardians.

The successful rescue was made possible through coordinated efforts by multiple agencies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Malaysian Embassy, and the Paveena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women. Four other children aged 13-15 remain temporarily in Malaysia to serve as court witnesses, with expected return to Thailand in early June.

Ns. Paveena Hongsakul, chairwoman of the Paveena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women, revealed that after receiving a complaint on May 9, the foundation immediately sent urgent correspondence to the Malaysian Ambassador requesting expedited assistance. The foundation coordinated with the Consular Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Director Amnaij Palapleewal and Diplomat Monthon Chansiri to gather information and monitor all seven children's cases.

The foundation also worked closely with the Department of Child and Youth Affairs and the Songkhla Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security.

On May 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that three children would return that night. Officials from the Songkhla Border Region Coordination Center and Songkhla Immigration Police traveled to the border to receive the children at 20:45. The mother of the 5-year-old boy cried and embraced her son with overwhelming joy upon reunion.

Initially, the children showed signs of fever and exhaustion. Officials immediately conducted medical examinations and arranged two nights of recovery at the Songkhla Child and Family Shelter before reuniting them with their families.

Today, parents from Prachuap Khiri Khan and Ratchaburi provinces visited Ns. Paveena Hongsakul to express their gratitude to the foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and the Malaysian Embassy for bringing their children safely home.

Ns. Paveena confirmed that the foundation will continue monitoring and coordinating psychological rehabilitation for all three children with relevant agencies, and thanked all stakeholders for their integrated efforts in safely and swiftly reuniting the Thai children with their families.

Ratchanok and Piangpan Team Tackles Corruption in Labor Ministry and State Enterprise—Plan to Present to Budget Committee

A government task force revealed widespread corruption in state procurement and the labor ministry, proposing to eliminate outdated laws, overhaul bidding processes, and protect whistleblowers—measures potentially saving 40 billion baht ann

1d ago Khaosod

At 10:30 a.m. on May 18, 2025 at parliament, Piangpan Bunkham, representing the people's government management team for state reform, disclosed results from a joint private-public sector committee survey on corruption and bribery. Over 70% of survey respondents were legal or procurement managers, with another 20% being SME owners or top executives employing no more than 200 staff. While the survey may not reflect large-scale corporate bribery in state bidding, officials believe substantial illicit payments occur in multiple forms—a serious concern amid economic hardship.

The government proposes three measures: First, eliminate outdated laws and unnecessary permits to reduce bureaucratic discretion that enables bribery, with a parliamentary special committee given 90 days to complete this reform by August. Second, overhaul public procurement methods and fix regulations that limit competition—such as exempting certain agencies from competitive bidding for contracts under 500,000 baht, affecting approximately 400 billion baht in spending and potentially saving 10% or 40 billion baht. Third, establish whistleblower protections for those reporting bribes and corruption, aligning with OECD principles that Thailand seeks to adopt.

Piangpan noted that Deputy Prime Minister Pakaorn Nilpraband announced plans to make anti-corruption a national agenda and accelerate Thailand's OECD membership bid. The Democratic Party emphasizes that effective, fair law enforcement and independent oversight are essential. Ratchanok Srinok, a Democratic Party list MP, highlighted two key survey findings: officials exploiting procurement to facilitate bribery, and the need to deploy technology to reduce bureaucratic discretion. The most effective anti-corruption strategy involves transparency and empowering civil society to analyze data using modern tools—an area where the private sector stands ready but government data access remains the bottleneck. The Democratic Party previously proposed opening the e-Government Procurement system (e-GP) database to the public.

Viral: 76-Year-Old Chinese Mother Who Gave Birth to Twins at 60 Shares Her Difficult Life Journey

A 76-year-old Chinese woman who became China's oldest mother after giving birth to twins at 60 following her daughter's death now supports her family by livestreaming health products and parenting advice to nearly a million followers.

1d ago Khaosod

A 76-year-old Chinese woman is making headlines again after becoming famous in 2010 for being China's oldest mother to give birth to twins at age 60. Zeng Hailin had suffered the loss of her only daughter and son-in-law to carbon monoxide poisoning in 2009, which motivated her decision to pursue IVF treatment despite significant health risks during pregnancy, including severe swelling and bleeding. She successfully delivered twin daughters named Zhuozuo and Huihui in 2010.

Life after their birth proved difficult, with substantial expenses for childcare, education, and extracurricular activities putting strain on the family, even with her husband being a former university professor and herself having served as a hospital director.

After her husband suffered a stroke in 2016 and passed away in 2022, Zeng was also defrauded of over 2 million yuan (approximately 10 million baht) in investments. However, she refused to give up. At age 73, she began livestreaming on Chinese platforms, selling health products and household items while sharing parenting tips and health advice. She gained nearly one million followers and earned the affectionate nickname "Mother Zeng" from her fans.

Zeng has become an inspiration to many parents who have lost children, often speaking about persevering through life's challenges and adapting to her teenage daughters by learning new things and keeping up with current trends. She has expressed pride in being a mother and hopes to live beyond 100 years old to watch her daughters grow up and thrive.

Police are overhauling railway crossing safety systems following a fatal train-bus collision and plan to file additional charges against the bus driver involved in the May 18 incident.

1d ago Khaosod

Police are taking the lead in upgrading safety systems at railway crossings following a fatal collision between a train and a passenger bus. Authorities stress this will not be treated as a simple accident and plan to file additional charges against the bus driver. On May 18, 2025, at Royal Thai Air Force headquarters, Police Spokesman Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwphan provided an update on the train-bus collision case. The National Police Office expressed deep condolences and noted all agencies are providing full assistance. Criminal proceedings have already been initiated against the train driver and the railway crossing gate operator—two individuals charged with reckless driving causing death. Additional charges against the bus driver are expected later today. Police are also investigating drug use discovered in the train operator and will expand the investigation based on findings. They will coordinate with all involved parties, particularly the train operator's parent organization, to examine all details and ensure justice. Beyond prosecution, the National Police Office will serve as coordinator with relevant agencies including Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and State Railway of Thailand to establish preventive measures and enhance safety at railway crossings. "We confirm this will not remain merely an accident or end with just prosecution," Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong stated. "It must lead to national-level prevention and remedial measures. The National Police Office will host discussions on all system aspects—engineering, traffic, accident prevention, and strict traffic law enforcement—to prevent such incidents. Any evidence of negligence or failure to perform duties will be pursued against all responsible parties."

1d ago Khaosod

On May 18, 2025, Deputy Minister of Education Akranant Kankanittinan held a meeting with Bangkok Governor Chatchat Sittiphand to finalize preparations and details for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding a collaborative pilot project (Sandbox) using the Traffy Fondue application to enhance safety in educational institutions under the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) in Bangkok, operating under the Center for the Protection of Rights and Freedoms (AOC).

The collaboration aims to implement a Sandbox pilot program that utilizes the Traffy Fondue application as a tool for receiving reports and complaints about school safety issues from students, teachers, educators, and parents. The system employs artificial intelligence (AI) technology to automatically screen and forward information to relevant agencies 24 hours a day, strengthening proactive safety monitoring and prevention systems in educational institutions.

The project focuses on protecting the safety of students, teachers, and education personnel, addressing four major hazard categories: violence, accidents, rights violations, and physical and mental health impacts. It also supports the collection of safety-related statistical data for future planning, development, and policy formulation by relevant agencies.

The pilot program will be implemented in schools under Bangkok's Secondary Education Area Offices (Districts 1 and 2) and Bangkok's Primary Education Area Office, targeting students, teachers, school administrators, educators, and parents in Bangkok. The initiative aims to create a safe educational environment that supports sustainable learning.

5.3 Magnitude Myanmar Earthquake Rattles Bangkok High-Rises

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake off Myanmar's southern coast sent tremors through Bangkok on Monday, prompting evacuations of high-rise buildings where residents on upper floors reported noticeable swaying; no damage was reported.

1d ago Khaosod

BANGKOK — 18 May 2026, A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck off the southern coast of Myanmar on Monday morning, sending distinct tremors across Bangkok and prompting evacuations of high-rise buildings in the Thai capital.

Thailand's Earthquake Observation Division (TMD) said the quake struck at 09:05 local time near the southern coast of Myanmar. The epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers, about 247 kilometers southwest of Mae Sot District in Tak Province.

The tremor posed no immediate threat to structures in Thailand, and no damage has been reported so far. Updates will follow if further details emerge.

Workers gathered at designated safety points outside several high-rise buildings across the city following the tremors.

Comments posted on the Earthquake TMD Facebook page showed residents on upper floors of skyscrapers in major Bangkok districts including Don Mueang, Phaya Thai, Bang Rak, Huai Khwang, Pathum Wan, Khlong Toei, and Chatuchak reporting noticeable tremors.

Selected comments from residents reporting the tremors online: • "19th floor, Gems Tower. Strongly felt!" • "5th floor at Lam Sali Intersection, Ramkhamhaeng. Felt it slightly twice." • "Felt it here in Chiang Mai. 6th floor, felt the building swaying." • "10th floor in Asoke. Felt it." • "Strongly felt in Phra Pradaeng. We're at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi and have already evacuated the building."

Tremors were felt across Bangkok Metropolitan Region, especially on upper floors of tall buildings where people noticed structures swaying and light fixtures swinging. The Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) building in Bangkok experienced significant swaying, with hanging lights visibly moving.

Officials quickly evacuated staff from the building as a precaution and inspected the structure and internal systems.

Although the quake's epicenter was outside Thailand, experts said Bangkok's soft clay soil can amplify seismic waves, allowing tremors from distant earthquakes to be felt across the capital.

Woman Scalded by Boiling Water Splashed on Both Legs Files Complaint After Perpetrator Shows No Remorse

A 45-year-old woman filed a police complaint after a coworker scalded her legs with boiling water at a workplace in Nonthaburi Province, citing the attacker's complete lack of remorse or apology.

1d ago Khaosod

A 45-year-old woman, Ms. Malay (surname withheld), filed a formal complaint with Deputy Investigation Officer Suphat Sarapradon at Thai Noi Police Station in Nonthaburi Province after being attacked by a 51-year-old colleague known as "Je" with boiling water, resulting in severe blistering burns on both thighs.

According to the victim's statement, the incident occurred around 1 p.m. the previous evening shortly after she finished work. The suspect, Ms. A (pseudonym), approached her using harsh language and threatening words, telling her not to act superior or life would become difficult. The victim stated she was confused about the reason for this outburst.

The suspect then called her outside to "settle it," and as the victim walked behind her, they passed by a coworker's quarters where water was being boiled for making desserts. The suspect suddenly grabbed the pot of boiling water and splashed it directly onto the victim, scalding her from the waist down to both thighs. The victim ran to the bathroom to cool herself with cold water, and the burns later developed into severe inflammation with large blisters.

After receiving treatment at the hospital, the victim decided to file charges because the perpetrator showed no remorse, did not inquire about her injuries, and offered no apology whatsoever. The victim also expressed uncertainty about the root cause of the attack, suggesting she may have been an easy target as she is alone without family or relatives nearby, making her vulnerable whenever the suspect becomes upset with others.
