BG – Port Authority Confident in Clinching Thailand Cup Championship as Season Finale Gift
BG Pathum United and Port Authority FC clash in the Thailand Cup final on May 24, with both teams confident they can capture the championship to cap off their season.
Both BG Pathum United and Port Authority FC expressed their determination to win the Thailand Cup championship as a fitting end to the 2025-26 season. The official press conference was held on May 22 at the Muangthong-Patr Building with Football Association of Thailand Secretary-General Ekkapol Phalnawee presiding, ahead of the championship match between "The Rabbit" BG Pathum United and "Port Lion" Port Authority FC on May 24 at Thammasat University's Rangsit Stadium.
BG Pathum coach Vladimir Vujoevic stated, "We've achieved our goal of reaching the final. The journey here was challenging, facing top teams, and we haven't conceded a goal throughout the tournament." He noted their semi-final victory over defending champions Buriram United and emphasized their strong momentum. "Port Authority plays attacking football very well, so our main focus is defensive solidity. Despite having changed coaches three times this season, our players have adapted well. We're concentrating on tight defense and creating attacking opportunities."
Vujoevic acknowledged the absence of injured players Chanadhip Songkrasinthh and Chatrmongkol Thongkiri but expressed confidence in the team's quality and collective strength. Port Authority coach Sarawut Triphan stated, "All the players in the team are focused and hopeful about winning this championship. The statistics from the season aren't the main point—what matters is the result in the finals." He added that after the league ended, the team has been committed to training, and players are determined to bring the trophy home as they haven't won it for a long time.
Other team representatives also expressed optimism. BG player Patrick Gustafsson said, "It's a great honor to play for BG, a big club. We've prepared for two weeks, and if we execute what we've practiced, we believe the result will be what we hope for."
