Gometh and Buddhapumi Shine at Thailand BMX Championship Round 3 in Phichit
National team riders Gometh and Buddhapumi advanced to the finals at Thailand's BMX Championship Round 3 in Phichit, drawing over 2,000 athletes and supporters to the May 22-23 event.
The third round of the Thailand BMX Championship at Saranjitr Mongkhon Suk cycling stadium in Phichit province drew enthusiastic participation, with national team riders Gometh and Buddhapumi delivering outstanding performances and advancing to the finals as expected. Governor Thaniya Naipinitj expressed her delight with the event, which attracted over 2,000 athletes and supporters, providing excellent economic stimulus to Phichit province.
The BMX championship round 3, held May 22-23 at Saranjitr Mongkhon Suk stadium (Bung Si Fai) in Phichit, carried the royal trophy sponsored by the late Princess Srinagarindra under royal patronage for 2026. The opening ceremony on May 22 was presided over by Governor Thaniya Naipinitj, joined by General Decha Mekkrasri, Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation and President of the ASEAN Cycling Federation, along with other provincial and national officials.
Governor Thaniya noted that this marked the first major cycling championship hosted in Phichit since the late Queen visited the stadium in March 2024. She highlighted the significant economic benefits, with over 2,000 athletes and supporters spending on hotels, restaurants, and local businesses, while also boosting OTOP (One Tambon One Product) sales.
The May 22 qualifying round was livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube channels of the Thailand Cycling Association, drawing over 10,000 viewers. Notable results included: Men's Division—"Gometh" S.O. Gometh Sukprasoet, a two-time Sea Games gold medalist and Asian Games preparation squad member from the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, secured first place, while "Om" Buddhapumi Nakphen, a two-time Sea Games silver medalist from C.S.K. Tooling Pathumthani team, finished second. Both advanced to the finals.
Women's Division—"Fa" Sergeant Chutikarn Kijvanichsathian, an Asian Games preparation squad member from the Office of the Permanent Secretary, ranked first, while "Khwan" Hathayphetch Jaiswang from the national team ranked second.
