Watch Out! Bhumjaithai Party Set to Vote on Sending MP Chonnapat to DSI for Online Gambling Investigation

The Bhumjaithai Party is voting on whether to send MP Chonnapat Naksan to the DSI for questioning in an online gambling investigation, with the MP signaling willingness to face justice.

11h ago Khaosod

At 3 p.m. on May 26, 2025, the Bhumjaithai Party parliamentary group convened to discuss and vote on the DSI's request to summon MP Chonnapat Naksan of the Kla Tham Party for questioning regarding an online gambling investigation. The House of Representatives has scheduled an urgent agenda item for May 28 to consider whether to authorize his interim detention. Party Secretary Chaiyachon Chidchop, who chaired the meeting, stated the party would first hold discussions, noting that some view this as a parliamentary privilege. However, he emphasized universal disapproval of the alleged conduct and pointed out that the MP himself posted that he is ready to face justice—which could change the situation entirely. Chidchop confirmed a resolution would be reached today, as the matter is straightforward. Should the MP voluntarily enter the justice process, the Bhumjaithai Party would vote accordingly without invoking parliamentary privilege. When asked about Pheu Thai's stance, Chidchop said no clear conclusion had been reached yet. He dismissed concerns that voting to send the MP constituted political manipulation, noting similar procedures have been standard practice across parties historically. Regarding accusations that not sending him would constitute protecting the Kla Tham Party, Chidchop argued such claims were baseless, as the justice system will ultimately determine guilt or innocence, with only about six weeks remaining before the process concludes regardless.

Gunmen dressed as Muslim women open fire on officer’s car in PattaniLegacyA shooting in Pattani left a police officer injured and his wife dead yesterday, May 25, after four suspected insurgents opened fire on their sedan near a school in Phong Sata, Yarang, Pattani. Police were alerted at 3.30pm to the shooting, which left one person injured and one dead. Officers found the sedan with multiple bullet marks on the windscreen and driver’s side. Inside the car, police found 35 year old Fatimoh Yango, the wife of 38 year old police officer Adul Yeesulong, dead in the back seat. Adul, who was shot in the leg, was taken to Yarang Hospital and was later reported to be in safe condition. The 2 month old child was also injured by bullet fragments. Photo via Thairath Police found seven AK cartridge cases, one bullet, three 9mm cartridge cases, and one bullet at the scene. The items were collected as evidence. An initial investigation found that Adul was driving with his wife and two young children to pick up his two sons from the school. Fatimoh was sitting in the back seat holding their 2 month old child, while another child sat in the front passenger seat. Four attackers dressed as Muslim women and wearing hijabs to conceal their faces were waiting by the roadside on two motorcycles. Photo via Thairath When the attackers saw Adul’s car, they allegedly opened fire with an AK rifle and a handgun. Adul drove about 300 metres into the school area before stopping the car and calling for help. After the attack, police sealed off the area while forensic officers collected evidence. Security officers were also ordered to block routes in and out of the area and search vehicles and suspicious people. Photo via Thairath Military personnel were later asked to join searches in target areas. Police believe the attackers may be linked to an insurgent group in the area and to a previous attack that killed a police officer on May 4. Police added that earlier intelligence had warned of possible insurgent attacks on state targets aimed at creating unrest, reported Thairath. In a similar incident, back in late March, a bomb attack in Narathiwat hit a police vehicle in Rangae district, seriously injuring two officers as they returned from investigating a theft case. The blast forced the police car off the roadway and caused damage to the vehicle. The story Gunmen dressed as Muslim women open fire on officer’s car in Pattani as seen on Thaiger News.

Sleeping with Earbuds Every Night is Dangerous, Doctors Warn of Ear Infections and Hearing Loss if Used Improperly

Sleeping nightly with earbuds risks ear infections, hearing loss, and earwax buildup if used improperly, Stanford doctors warn, recommending looser-fitting options or alternative audio devices instead.

11h ago Khaosod

Many people wear earbuds before bed to listen to music, mask noise, and fall asleep more easily—and research shows this can improve sleep quality. However, ear specialists caution that despite generally being safe, there are overlooked risks. Stanford Medicine doctors explain that in-ear earbuds that seal the ear canal tightly can trap moisture, allowing bacteria to accumulate and increasing the risk of ear infections, especially for those who shower before bed, have sensitive ear canal skin, or existing ear problems. Warning signs include ear pain, unusual itching, fluid discharge, or abnormal odors. Prolonged earbud use can also lead to earwax buildup, causing hearing difficulty, ear fullness, pressure, or ringing—conditions requiring medical cleaning or standard earwax removal kits. Volume level is another critical concern: the World Health Organization (WHO) notes that continuous exposure to sounds above 80 decibels for several hours weekly can damage hearing permanently, while 60-70 decibels (normal conversation) is considered safe. Doctors also warn that noise-canceling earbuds or loud audio while sleeping may prevent you from hearing fire alarms, wake-up calls, or emergency alerts. For those needing earbuds before sleep, experts recommend soft earbuds that don't seal the ear canal too tightly, over-ear headphones, or flat speakers under a pillow to reduce moisture and ear canal irritation.

Locals deny tourist knife attack incidents occurred before, following ex-F1 racer incident becoming headline news

Former F1 driver Mika Salo's injury at a Bangkok intersection was a traffic accident, not a knife attack as initially reported, with locals denying any history of tourist stabbings in the area.

12h ago Khaosod

Following the case of Mika Salo, a legendary Finnish F1 racing driver aged 59, whose injury made global headlines after being grazed by a motorcycle with serious injuries to his left thigh at Nana intersection on May 19, local residents on May 26 confirmed the incident occurred but denied it involved a knife or cutter blade. They stated that since living in the area, they have never witnessed such knife attack incidents on tourists, believing that local merchants would know about any such crimes as they routinely protect visitors to prevent damage to the tourism industry. However, they acknowledged occasional incidents of bag snatching and drug dealing in the area.

Major (retired) Pheeraphong, a 50-year-old motorcycle taxi driver at Sukhumvit Soi 4, stated he did not witness the incident but confirmed the area has never experienced tourist knife attacks—only traffic accidents during nighttime when tourists frequent the area. The location experiences frequent accidents because tourists sometimes cross without checking traffic signals while vehicles move quickly.

A local shoe repairman named Khun reported that 3-4 days prior, Poh Teg Tung Foundation staff parked at Sukhumvit Soi 4 to assist a tall-built foreign national appearing intoxicated, but he could not confirm if it was the same incident.

According to investigators, Mika exited from Sukhumvit Soi 3 opposite Sukhumvit Soi 4 at a four-way intersection, crossed at the zebra crossing toward Sukhumvit Soi 4 near the police station, then crossed to reach a gas station before heading to accommodation at Sukhumvit Soi 2. The incident likely occurred on Sukhumvit Soi 4 while walking from the police station to the gas station, as the soi has heavy traffic and curves before the entrance, suggesting a vehicle glancing collision occurred at that moment, with the injury sustained to the left thigh area.

Renowned Spiritual Master Arrested for Sexual Assault of 18-Year-Old Stepdaughter; Guns and Ammunition Found in Raid

12h ago Khaosod

On May 26, 2569, Chiang Mai police executed an arrest warrant against 43-year-old Kamolthep, known as "Ajarn Sua Ban Fon," a well-known spiritual master specializing in tattoos, candle-making, and karma-cleansing rituals. He was arrested at his residence in Nong Kwai Subdistrict, Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai, on charges of sexual assault using force and coercion.

During the search, officers discovered six registered handguns, one homemade rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and five methamphetamine pills. Kamolthep denied the sexual assault allegations, claiming he didn't know how he ended up in the ritual room and had done nothing to his stepdaughter. Police records show he was previously imprisoned for 1 year and 8 months in 2551 for methamphetamine possession.

According to 41-year-old Thitaree, the victim's mother and Kamolthep's wife, she had been his disciple for years, attending fortune readings, water blessings, and karma-cleansing ceremonies. They had been together for 8 years and were registered as married. On April 16, the stepdaughter finally disclosed that since January 2567, when she was 18 years old, Kamolthep had repeatedly sexually assaulted her under the pretense of completing spiritual rituals. He allegedly threatened her with a loaded gun, told her sexual intercourse was necessary for the ritual to work, and said he knew high-ranking police officers. The assaults occurred approximately five times. The victim had remained silent out of fear, living in the same house and threatened by the suspect's weapons. She eventually gathered courage and told her mother, prompting them to file a police report and commit to pursuing the case to its conclusion.
