17-year-old claims he was lured by 19-year-old woman to be beaten unconscious by ex-boyfriend's gang after meeting on dating app
A 17-year-old was lured to a Bangkok homestay by a woman he met on a dating app and beaten unconscious by a gang on May 23; CCTV suggests the woman set up the attack.
A 17-year-old man named Buss filed a complaint after being lured by a 19-year-old woman he met on a dating app and beaten unconscious by her ex-boyfriend's gang at a homestay in Bangkok's Chatuchak area on May 23 at 9 PM. Buss explained that he had been chatting with Ms. Tong through a dating application. During their relationship, whenever Ms. Tong visited his room, her ex-boyfriend would call and scold him. When asked about it, she claimed she had already broken up with her ex but that he was obsessed and wouldn't leave her alone. On the night of the incident, Ms. Tong called him and claimed her mother and aunt wanted to meet him since he was dating their daughter, but instructed him not to bring friends along. When he arrived at the third-floor room, he found no one there. As he attempted to lock the door, a group of 3-4 assailants burst in armed with knives and guns, beat him until he lost consciousness. When he regained consciousness, everyone had left. He managed to escape by climbing out and jumping down from the third floor, then sought help from a convenience store employee to call his ex-girlfriend's number to inform his relatives. Ms. Fa, 22, Buss's older sister, stated that after the incident, the female caller asked where her brother was and claimed she had also been tricked by the same gang of men who left her somewhere unknown. However, CCTV footage showed the woman was not arrested and fled the scene first, suggesting this was a premeditated setup. Initially, Buss was reluctant to go, but the woman offered to give him 100 baht for gas, so he agreed. He wanted to bring another friend, but the woman said it wasn't necessary. The case has already been reported to police, and the family is requesting a thorough investigation.
