A 14-year-old boy risks permanent blindness after a May 12 motorcycle crash fractured his eye socket and caused brain bleeding. His family needs 15,000 baht by May 19 to proceed with surgery, having exhausted their insurance coverage limit.
A 14-year-old boy is facing blindness after a motorcycle accident on May 12 when he crashed into the rear of an unlit parked trailer. He has sustained severe injuries including a fractured left leg, broken wrist, damaged teeth, fractured skull with eye socket rupture, and bleeding in the brain. Despite having health insurance coverage, his family has exhausted the 30,000-baht limit and the hospital is demanding an additional 15,000 baht by May 19 at 2 p.m. to proceed with surgery. The family is struggling financially as the boy, known for his dedication, works delivering food to support the household while managing his own kidney disease, and his mother battling cancer. The hospital has also informed them that the boy may lose vision permanently due to possible nerve damage from the fractured eye socket, and they cannot source swelling medication locally, requiring a trip to Pathum Thani hospital. The boy could see immediately after the accident but has now gone blind in one eye. His family is appealing for urgent financial assistance through social media to save his vision and afford the necessary surgery before the deadline.
