40-Year-Old Woman Marries Friend's Son, Sparks Drama Over Complex Relationship

A 40-year-old woman from China married her close friend's 29-year-old son, creating an 11-year age gap that has sparked online controversy and family conflict. Despite opposition from his mother and societal pressure, the couple registered their marriage and now live together, frequently sharing their domestic life on social media.

4d ago Khaosod

An age-gap romance turned drama after a 40-year-old woman from Shandong Province, China decided to marry her close friend's son, who is 11 years younger, sparking heated online debate about the relationship.

According to reports, the woman had previously gone through a divorce after discovering her ex-husband's infidelity. She then dedicated herself to building a stable life running a clothing business. She had also maintained a long friendship with a local woman in her city.

However, no one expected that her new husband would turn out to be her friend's son. The man is 29 years old, divorced, and has been single-handedly raising two young children. His ex-wife left him due to financial difficulties, as his monthly income of only 3,000 yuan (approximately 14,000 baht) made life quite challenging.

Initially, the couple got to know each other because the woman regularly visited her friend's house. Over time, their closeness blossomed into genuine feelings. She was impressed by his sincerity, sense of responsibility, and the love he showed his children, while he saw her as a warm, caring woman skilled at managing a household.

Although they love each other, the relationship faces intense social pressure and family complications, particularly regarding her role as the friend's daughter-in-law. Reports indicate that his mother strongly opposed the marriage when she learned her son wanted to marry her own friend.

After lengthy discussions and efforts to reach understanding, the couple decided to register their marriage at the end of last year. Since both had experienced disappointment in previous relationships, they opted for a simple registration ceremony rather than a grand wedding celebration.

Currently, the woman has moved in to live with her young husband, and their love story continues to attract public attention as she regularly posts clips of their married life on social media, essentially flaunting their sweetness amid the drama.

Trade Policy Office Reports Strong Thai Influencer Market Growth Worth 450 Billion Baht, Recommends Six Approaches to Develop Professional Talent

Thailand's influencer economy has reached 450 billion baht in 2024 and is expected to grow 15-20% annually, according to a new report by the Office of Trade and Investment Policy. With approximately 3 million influencers representing one-third of digital advertising value, concerns remain about the market's 66% dependence on TikTok. The government is being urged to establish standards, develop professional skills, and expand market opportunities to strengthen Thailand's competitive position in the rapidly growing global influencer sector.

4d ago Khaosod

The Office of Trade and Investment Policy (OTIP) released a report titled 'Influencer Economy: From Content to Digital Commerce,' revealing that Thailand's influencer market was valued at 450 billion baht in 2024 with projected continuous annual growth of 15-20%. Currently, there are approximately 3 million influencers in Thailand, representing roughly one-third of the total digital advertising market value. A major concern is Thailand's 66% dependence on TikTok, prompting recommendations for the government to urgently establish standards, develop workforce skills, and expand market opportunities both domestically and internationally.

Nanthaphong Jiralesspong, Director of the Office of Trade and Investment Policy under the Ministry of Commerce, explained that OTIP recognizes the importance of influencers in shaping follower behavior and generating economic value, leading to the creation of this comprehensive report examining influencer economics and marketing at both global and Thai levels, along with policy recommendations from various countries and strategies to promote Thailand's influencer economy.

According to the report, an influencer is defined as a content creator who produces and distributes material on social media platforms, wielding influence over followers' attitudes, perceptions, and purchasing decisions. The influencer economy comprises five key components: influencers, online platforms, businesses/brands/entrepreneurs, revenue-generating tools and transactions, and followers/consumers.

The global influencer economy continues to show strong growth momentum. Market research firm Introspective Market Research reported that the global influencer economy was valued at 43.9 billion US dollars in 2023, with projections of averaging 33.9% annual growth through 2032, potentially reaching 607 billion US dollars by that year. Global influencer marketing alone was valued at 32.6 billion US dollars in 2024, with anticipated continued growth at an average rate of 51.90% annually through 2032. Currently, approximately 127 million social media users worldwide operate as influencers, with artificial intelligence development identified as a key factor enabling market expansion by reducing entry barriers and facilitating creative content production.

OTIP's study of influencer economy promotion strategies in three countries—China, the United States, and South Korea—found that influencer marketing values continue to expand significantly in each nation with large influencer populations. However, each country implements different policies and measures regarding the influencer economy, including digital economic promotion, online content regulation, consumer protection, and personal data privacy. China, for instance, has issued regulations governing its online content ecosystem requiring content creators, service users, and platforms to collectively assume responsibility for online content quality, while also implementing influencer control policies to prevent the spread of false information.

Defense Minister Pleased with First Class of 24 Soldiers Completing Vocational Education, Declares Success of 'Laab Shop Proclamation'

Defense Minister General Adulai Boontherm celebrated the graduation of 24 soldiers who completed vocational and advanced vocational certificates in a new military-education partnership program. The initiative, humorously dubbed the 'Laab Shop Proclamation' after its origins at a casual restaurant meal, aims to provide soldiers with educational qualifications and professional development opportunities while advancing government policy on volunteer military service. The program is designed to serve as a model for expanding access to quality education among military personnel across northeastern Thailand.

4d ago Khaosod

On May 15, 2025, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan held a certificate presentation ceremony for 24 military personnel—one with a vocational certificate and 23 with advanced vocational certificates. Defense Minister General Adulai Boontherm, Nakhon Ratchasima Governor Anupong Suksamnit, and Regional Commander 2 General Veeruyut Raksilp attended as witnesses.

General Adulai revealed that the project began during his tenure as Deputy Regional Commander 2, overseeing personnel matters. After becoming Regional Commander 2, he signed a cooperation agreement with the university for the initiative titled "One Command, One Educational Institution: Developing People, Strengthening the Military, Building the Nation."

The Defense Minister emphasized that this collaboration provides soldiers with opportunities beyond military service alone. Participants benefit from physical and mental training that builds strength and patriotism; gain educational qualifications that improve employment prospects and self-sufficiency; and develop quality lives with discipline and stable careers.

General Adulai recounted that the cooperation concept emerged during a casual meal with the university president at a local laab restaurant, leading him to call today's success the "Laab Shop Proclamation." He expressed pride that the initiative has flourished and produced its first graduating class, serving as a model for the government's volunteer military program.

University President Khosit Sriputhon noted that General Adulai championed the project consistently from his Deputy Regional Commander position through his tenure as Regional Commander. The university could implement the program immediately due to its campuses throughout the Northeast, aligning with Regional Command 2's responsibility area comprising multiple provinces.

Education was delivered through flexible methods including classroom instruction, field training, and online systems, building upon soldiers' existing discipline with additional knowledge. The president stated that graduates from this "One Command, One Educational Institution" program will become quality community leaders, possessing both knowledge and discipline.

Notably, this marks the first time in history that Thailand has its own pavilion at this event, reflecting international recognition of Thailand's pet industry potential.

Thailand has risen to become the world's second-largest exporter of dog and cat food in 2024, second only to Germany, with export value exceeding $2.677 billion, representing a 29 percent increase compared to the previous year. The global pet industry continues steady growth, driven by increasing pet ownership trends among younger generations and seniors, combined with growing consumer focus on pet health that pushes demand for premium products. Thailand's pet food exports are projected to reach $3.1 billion in 2025, with potential to claim the world's number one position in the near future.

Check Before Installing Solar Panels: MEA Warns Against Poor Choices That Cost Money and Risk Electrical Hazards

Thailand's electrical authority warns homeowners to carefully vet solar panel installers, as poor installations risk electrical fires, shocks, and wasted money on underperforming systems.

4d ago Khaosod

The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) is expressing concern about the increasing number of residents interested in installing rooftop solar panel systems. MEA has issued guidance on selecting qualified installers to prevent potential hazards that could damage property and endanger lives.

When choosing a solar installation service, look for: - Reputable, stable providers with extensive experience and accessible support - Quality equipment certified to international standards - Qualified technicians or engineers overseeing the work - Minimum 1-2 year warranties covering installation and defects - Maintenance throughout the warranty period - Proper permits and approvals

Substandard solar installations can directly impact residential electrical systems through improper wiring, non-certified equipment, or structural damage that affects existing electrical lines. These problems can lead to short circuits, fires, or electrical shock hazards, risking both life and property. Additionally, non-standard installations may result in poor system performance, failing to reduce electricity bills as promised and creating future repair costs.

Thai police arrest Nigerian man for nearly 3-year overstay

A 29-year-old Nigerian man was arrested in Nonthaburi province after overstaying his visa for nearly three years, having entered on a tourist visa during Songkran 2023 and remaining in Thailand illegally supported by his Thai girlfriend.

4d ago Khaosod

NONTHABURI — May 14, 2026. Thai immigration police have arrested a Nigerian man accused of overstaying his visa for nearly three years after he allegedly remained in the country to live with his Thai girlfriend, authorities said.

The 29-year-old man was detained at a condominium in Nonthaburi province following a tip-off received through the Immigration Bureau's hotline, police said.

Investigators from Nonthaburi Immigration Police searched the condominium on Bangkok-Nonthaburi Road and found the suspect living on the 17th floor of the building.

Authorities said he entered Thailand on April 13, 2023 on a tourist visa during the Songkran holiday festival and repeatedly extended his stay. His most recent visa extension expired on June 6, 2024, after which he remained in the country illegally for 1,069 days, police said.

During questioning, the suspect told officers he travelled to Thailand to attend Songkran celebrations in Bangkok and later began a relationship with a Thai woman.

Police said he attempted to obtain a student visa through an educational institution in Nakhon Ratchasima province, but the application was rejected. He later continued extending his tourist visa before eventually overstaying.

The suspect reportedly told investigators he was unemployed and financially supported by his girlfriend.

Immigration officers charged him with remaining in Thailand after his permission to stay had expired, in violation of Thailand's Immigration Act. He was transferred to Muang Nonthaburi police station for further legal proceedings.

Thai officials seize 43 cattle near Cambodia border

Thai authorities seized 43 cattle suspected of being smuggled toward Cambodia during a border patrol operation in Sa Kaeo province. The animals were transferred to a quarantine station for disease testing after the suspected smugglers fled the scene. If no owner claims the livestock and tests show no disease, the cattle will be auctioned.

4d ago Khaosod

SA KAEO — On May 15, 2026, Thai livestock and security officials seized 43 cattle suspected of being smuggled toward the Cambodian border during a patrol operation in eastern Thailand.

The operation was led by Sa Kaeo Animal Quarantine Station chief Suphot Sangka and included livestock officials, border security forces, and Border Patrol Police.

Authorities said officers discovered a group of men herding two mixed-sex beef cattle herds near Ban Saeng village in Ta Phraya district, close to the Thai-Cambodian border.

When officials moved in to inspect the animals, the men fled into nearby forests and escaped. A subsequent search uncovered two separate groups of cattle—one with 13 animals and another with 30—totaling 43 head.

Because the cattle's origin could not be verified and authorities were concerned about potential disease transmission, the animals were transferred to the Sa Kaeo Animal Quarantine Station in Ta Phraya district.

Samples were collected for laboratory testing, and a police report was filed at Thap Thai police station.

If no infectious diseases are found and no owner comes forward to claim the cattle, the animals will be auctioned according to government regulations.
