Thai Youth Showcase Marine Conservation Innovations
PTTEP awarded 1.05 million baht in prizes to 190 student innovations protecting and preserving Thailand's marine resources in the fourth "Ocean for Life" competition, with winning projects ranging from rubber-based boat bumpers to AI-powere
PTTEP (PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited) announced the results and awarded prizes for the 4th Marine Resource Conservation Innovation Competition under the concept "Ocean for Life" (Ocean for Life) within the PTTEP Teenergy project's 10th year, totaling 1,050,000 baht. The competition selected works from vocational and undergraduate students, with 190 total entries submitted from 43 educational institutions nationwide.
Competition results across three categories:
Protect (Protecting marine areas from various threats): Grand Prize winner is a rubber-based boat collision bumper innovation by the SRTC Love the Sea team from Surat Thani Technical College. First Runner-up is a warning device to alert marine mammals away from fishing equipment by the Bok Chiang team from Kasetsart University. Second Runner-up is an oil-decomposing biofilm floating buoy innovation by the Bio Synergy team from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. Two Consolation Prizes went to LEK & SPICE team from Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, and the "I Am a Dugong" biodegradable bead innovation team from Mahidol University.
Preserve (Conservation and restoration of marine and coastal resources): Grand Prize winner is a turtle wave energy generator by the Bo So Design team from Chulalongkorn University. First Runner-up is SeaGuard, a seagrass conservation device for sustainable carbon sequestration, by Seagrass SeaGuard team from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. Second Runner-up is CarbonCap, an AI-powered blue carbon monitoring system for mangrove forests, by the CarbonCap team from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. Two Consolation Prizes were awarded to the Trawltle team and Coral Blue Matrix team, both from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi.
Provide (Creating opportunities for community economic development): Grand Prize winner is an intelligent feeding platform for sustainable marine aquaculture by the Ahwang Rangwang team from Kasetsart University. First Runner-up is BlueLoop's chitosan-degradable fishing net innovation addressing ghost nets in the Gulf of Thailand from Chulalongkorn University. Second Runner-up is Beyond Pollen's artificial pollen made from Thai marine fish resources as an alternative bee feed, by teams from Phayao, Chiang Mai, and Yala Rajabhat Universities. Two Consolation Prizes went to the Bio-Jelly Boom team from Srinakharinwirot University and the Para Marine team from Prince of Songkla University.
