Teacher Uay Opens Up About Life's Struggles, Pivots to Selling Chili Paste with Her Mother, Thanks Mot Dam for Another Opportunity
Teacher Uay opened up about recent struggles and found peace helping her mother sell homemade chili paste, a family trade spanning decades. The former teacher appeared on Mot Dam's Phlae program to discuss developing new chili paste recipes
Teacher Uay opened up for the first time about her recent struggles, explaining how she has found clarity and peace by helping her mother sell homemade chili paste—a trade the family has relied on for decades. On May 4th, Mot Dam Kachapa invited her close friend Teacher Uay Chanista to appear on the Phlae program for the first time following her legal troubles, which have since been resolved. Mot Dam clarified that "today we're not doing fortune-telling; if we did, I'd have to shut down the show according to our contract."
Teacher Uay explained: "This situation has made me more mindful. Spending free time making chili paste with my mother keeps my mind at ease. She's been running this business to support us since I was young—we have what we have today because of this." Her 68-year-old mother revealed she has been making chili paste for over 40 years to raise her children from nursery school onward. When her daughter faced public backlash, she invited her to join in making chili paste and chicken skin snacks instead.
Teacher Uay said she helped her mother develop new chili paste recipes, and the response has been quite positive since launch. "I love spicy food and wanted to sell snacks. Seeing my mother make chili paste, I asked her to help me develop more flavors. We sat together tasting and refining until we got recipes we were happy with." She later posted photos from her Phlae appearance with a caption thanking "Mot Dam and the Phlae team for continuing to give me opportunities." Several entertainers left supportive comments.
