Devastating Storm Leaves 51 Houses in Ruins in Just 5 Minutes—Roofs and Walls Blown Away
A sudden and intense windstorm devastated Dong Sing Subdistrict in Roi Et province on May 3, 2025, destroying 51 homes in just 5 minutes. The powerful gusts tore off roofs, collapsed walls, shattered windows, and toppled electrical poles, leaving the area without power and roads blocked by debris. Local authorities are working to clear damage and submit requests for emergency relief funds to help affected residents.
On May 3, 2025, at 7:30 a.m., Taweesit Montrichan, Mayor of Dong Sing Subdistrict Municipality in Chiang Kham, Roi Et province, led administrative and engineering staff in assessing damage from a violent windstorm that damaged homes starting around 3:45 p.m. in villages 1, 4, 13, 15, and 16 of Dong Sing Subdistrict.
Residents reported hearing an extremely powerful wind that, within just 5 minutes, completely destroyed homes and ripped off roofs entirely. Window panes shattered across multiple residences, utility poles were knocked down throughout the village causing a widespread power outage, and corrugated metal roofing from various houses was blown onto village roads.
Immediately, officials worked together to clear roofing material from village streets to restore access for residents. Meanwhile, provincial electricity authorities rushed to restore power to affected homes.
The initial damage assessment found a total of 51 damaged houses. The findings will be submitted to Roi Et province for consideration of emergency relief funds and material allocation to repair residents' homes and provide urgent assistance.
