Spirit Summoning Ritual Held for Young Woman Beaten to Death by Partner; Aunt Reports Dream of Victim Without Head

A young woman named Joy died after being beaten by her partner Winai in a hotel room in Nonthaburi's Bang Bua Thong district. Her family performed a Buddhist spirit summoning ceremony on May 15 as relatives reported supernatural experiences, including the aunt's disturbing dream and a friend hearing the victim call out at 3 a.m. The case highlights the tragic outcome of a domestic dispute that escalated to fatal violence.

4d ago Khaosod

A man named Winai fatally beat his girlfriend Joy after discovering she had secretly checked into a hotel with another man. Enraged, he repeatedly kicked and struck her before discovering her lifeless body the next morning. He then transported her body to a police station in Bang Bua Thong to turn himself in. On May 15, 2569, the family held a Buddhist spirit summoning ceremony at her lodging before preparing for religious rites at Pai Luang Temple in Nonthaburi Province. Joy's 49-year-old aunt, Kanchana, recounted that on the night of the incident, she had advised them to settle their dispute peacefully, but later lost contact with her niece after midnight. In a dream the following night, she saw Joy sitting at a restaurant without a head. Meanwhile, a 65-year-old friend of the deceased reported hearing her call out at around 3 a.m., keeping him awake. After the spirit summoning ceremony, the family retrieved Joy's body from the forensic institute to proceed with religious funeral rites at the temple.

11 Survivors After Emergency Landing in Middle of Ocean—Remained Afloat for Over 5 Hours

Eleven people survived an emergency ocean landing in the Atlantic off Florida after their aircraft's engines failed during a flight from the Bahamas, drifting on life rafts for over 5 hours before a U.S. Air Force helicopter rescued them.

4d ago Khaosod

Eleven people narrowly survived after a small aircraft made an emergency landing in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida and drifted on a life raft for over 5 hours before rescue teams arrived. The pilot revealed that in his 25 years of flying, he had never faced such a catastrophic situation before.

The incident occurred on May 15, 2026, during a short 20-minute flight from Marsh Harbour in the Abaco Islands, Bahamas, heading to Freeport on Grand Bahama Island. During the flight, multiple systems on the aircraft began to fail—starting with the navigation system, radio communications, and eventually both engines shut down.

Bahamian pilot Ian Nixon explained that he attempted to contact air traffic control in both Freeport and Miami but received no response. This forced him to make the critical decision to execute an emergency water landing, a last-resort measure when landing at an airport was impossible.

After the emergency landing, all passengers had to remain on life rafts in the middle of the ocean for more than 5 hours amid fear and uncertainty. The pilot attempted to reassure everyone that help was on the way.

Shortly after, they heard the sound of a helicopter from the U.S. Air Force's 920th Rescue Wing, which had been conducting a training mission when it was diverted to assist after the U.S. Coast Guard received an emergency signal from the aircraft's emergency position-indicating radio beacon.

When rescue personnel located the survivors, all were clearly exhausted both physically and mentally. All eleven people were transported to hospitals in Florida.

One of the rescue team members stated that the survival of all 11 passengers from this ocean crash was truly miraculous.

The Bahamian authorities are currently investigating the true cause of this accident.

Agriculture Ministry Launches Emergency Plan to Combat El Niño Following Strong Q1 Agricultural Growth of 2.4%

Thailand's agricultural sector grew 2.4% in the first quarter of 2025, driven by adequate rainfall and favorable weather conditions, with the government projecting full-year growth of 0.5-1.5%. The Agriculture Ministry has launched emergency measures and long-term strategies to manage production costs and prepare for potential El Niño impacts, drought, and global economic headwinds in the coming months.

4d ago Khaosod

On May 15, 2025, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit announced that the agricultural economy grew 2.4% in Q1 2025 (January-March) compared to the same period in 2024. The growth was supported by continuous rainfall throughout 2024, which ensured adequate water in reservoirs and natural water sources for crop cultivation and growth, combined with favorable overall weather conditions. Although March 2025 was affected by Middle East tensions that pushed crude oil prices higher globally, domestic fuel price controls during early March and existing stock levels of agricultural inputs such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides limited production cost increases. The crop, livestock, and forestry sectors all showed expansion.

The ministry projects full-year 2025 agricultural growth of 0.5-1.5% compared to 2024, supported by adequate water levels in major and medium-sized reservoirs and comprehensive water management, disaster preparedness, disease control in crops and animals, and promotion of agricultural technology and innovation. However, the minister warned of several risk factors requiring close monitoring, including climate variability—particularly El Niño conditions expected in the second half of 2025 that could cause irregular rainfall and drought—as well as fluctuations in oil and fertilizer prices, stringent trade measures from key trading partners, baht volatility, and global economic slowdown.

The ministry will implement both urgent and continuous development measures to address these risks. Immediate priorities include managing diesel and B20 fuel distribution through cooperatives, promoting balanced use of chemical and organic fertilizers based on soil analysis, utilizing biofertilizers and precision agriculture technology, improving water management, conducting cloud seeding operations, and preparing water pumps in drought-prone areas. Long-term efforts will focus on improving production efficiency, reducing costs, and strengthening Thai agriculture's competitiveness through precision agriculture technology, farmer training programs, and low-interest credit for agricultural machinery.

4d ago Khaosod

On May 14, 2026, Pol. Col. Kukkong Disawat and officers from the Sikhiu Police Station arrested 26-year-old Nattaphong on charges of possessing counterfeit trademark goods for sale and customs law violations. The operation took place on the M6 motorway at kilometer 155 in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

Police seized an Isuzu pickup truck (registered in Kamphaeng Phet), 2,231 counterfeit branded t-shirts, 900 counterfeit designer backpacks, and 10,630 packs of foreign cigarettes—items worth a combined 5 million baht.

The arrest followed intelligence indicating an organized smuggling operation importing counterfeit goods for domestic distribution. When officers stopped and inspected the vehicle, the driver initially denied knowledge of the cargo. Upon inspection, officers discovered the massive haul of counterfeit merchandise and contraband cigarettes.

Under interrogation, Nattaphong confessed to collecting the goods from a shophouse in Mueang district, Nong Khai province, and transporting them to a warehouse in Bang Khun Thian, Bangkok. He stated that a man named "Chai" (surname unknown) hired him for 5,000 baht per trip. Police are continuing their investigation to track down other members of the smuggling network.

Man's Persistent Ear Fullness Traced to Yellow Fungal Infection on Eardrum

A patient's months-long ear fullness turned out to be a yellow fungal infection on the eardrum, successfully treated after an ENT specialist removed the thick, hair-like growths; doctors warn that cotton swab use and moisture create conditi

4d ago Khaosod

A male patient sought treatment for months of persistent ear fullness and discomfort. Detailed examination revealed a yellow fungal infection on the eardrum, appearing as thick, hair-like strands in large rings.

The Hongyu Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic shared the case on Facebook, noting that ENT specialist Dr. Lin Fuhmin used an otoscope to examine the patient's ear canal. The fungus had developed on the previously surgically-treated eardrum area, forming thick, fluffy, hair-like growths. However, after the doctor used specialized techniques to remove the fungus, the patient's ear fullness and fullness symptoms improved and resolved completely.

According to the clinic's interview with ET Today Health, the suspected cause of the infection stemmed from the patient's habit of using cotton swabs to clean his ears after bathing. While this seems like a cleaning practice, it can actually cause microscopic wounds to the ear canal's inner skin, leading to bleeding and moisture accumulation—conditions that promote fungal growth. Additionally, the patient's previous ear surgery increased the infection risk in that area.

Doctors explain that humid weather conditions favor fungal growth, and the ear is an environment where fungi thrive. In clinical practice, fungi from the outer ear can spread to the eardrum, making treatment more difficult. Removing fungus from the eardrum requires specialized medical skills, so patients should consult an ENT specialist directly.

To prevent ear fungal infections, doctors recommend using a hair dryer on low heat to dry the ear after bathing if water enters. Avoid repeatedly using cotton swabs. Those who frequently get water in their ears while bathing should consider using earplugs for additional protection.

If ear fullness or pressure persists without improvement, seek prompt evaluation from an ENT specialist. Do not delay treatment, as complications can become severe.

Cleared Up! Mother-in-Law's Disapproval of Daughter-in-Law Debunked After 'Tam Wichaya' Separates from Wife, Respects Both Their Decision

Veteran actress Duangdao Charuujinda addressed rumors following her son Tam Wichaya's separation announcement, firmly denying that her disapproval of his wife caused the split. Duangdao emphasized that both she and Tam respect the couple's decision and stated she doesn't interfere in family matters, revealing she only learned about the separation from media reports like everyone else. She highlighted that despite the separation, her son has maintained close bonds with his grandmother and continues to support the family.

Duangdao Opens Up After 'Tam Wichaya' Separates from Wife, Affirms Respect for Their Decision

After Yingyaon Duangporn, wife of Tam Wichaya (Tam Khunphasin Charuujinda), announced on social media that she and her husband have been separated for some time, shocking many people, entertainment reporters recently caught up with Duangdao Charuujinda at a merit-making ceremony for the series "Anueng Maa Jak" at the Ganesha Shrine on Channel 7HD on May 15, 2026, and seized the opportunity to ask about the situation.

When asked about Tam Wichaya's separation from his wife, Duangdao responded: "Our child is already grown up. Tam is almost 50, and my younger sister Taul (Tawan) is 45. Our son is a man, I'm a mother. We have to give our child space. We won't interfere or meddle. Mother will always be here. If he's ready to share or needs help, mother's arms are always open, ready to embrace and encourage him.

But I won't overstep in other matters. If he wants to talk, he'll talk on his own. If he doesn't, it means he doesn't want to trouble his mother. Everyone has their own life, with ups and downs and mistakes. I've fallen before too. I was a single mother once until I met a good man like Palakorn (Somsuwannana). So this isn't an unusual situation—it's quite normal. Anyone who isn't happy just needs to find what makes them happy and move forward. Right now, Ao and Tam do TikTok lives together all the time to give encouragement to us mother and son."

When asked if her son ever consulted her beforehand, Duangdao said: "No, he's grown up. As I said, he's going to be 50 already. When you ask if I was shocked seeing my former daughter-in-law post about this news, well, we respect all their decisions. But honestly, I'm busy selling things on live streams. I found out like everyone else did (laughs)."

Does Tam seem stressed? "Not at all. He's just living his life. Maybe he understands because I've been through it before, and he experienced his parents divorcing too, except he didn't have children of his own. On our part, if people are together but unhappy, everyone needs to separate and find happiness. We don't know the real details of what happened between the two of them, but we respect their decision. When she was my daughter-in-law, she was good and lovely to us."

When the news broke, some people commented that the split was because the mother-in-law disapproved of the daughter-in-law because of all the rumors? "No (laughs). Duangdao isn't like that. I've been through separation and life in that space before, so why would I comment on others? I'm focused on surviving my own life. Regardless of who it is, I respect everyone's decisions. When there are delicate family matters, I stay out of it completely.

Because no one really knows what problems each family has. Some things we keep and heal our own hearts with. Ao heals himself with his family too. Ao has a mother who is the pillar of support. I made a promise to your father that I would take the best care of Mother. And Tam is Grandmother's first grandchild. I think what he feared most was if Grandmother found out, how would she feel? When the news broke—boom! Grandmother called Tam right away while he was doing a live stream with us. I immediately ended the stream because Mother found out from the TV news.

But Tam came back to visit Grandmother, and they ate together. One thing I want to say that almost makes me cry is that before, my brother (Uncle Lek) was always with Mother. When my brother passed away, Mother had to be alone, eating by herself. When the first grandson that Grandmother raised came back to visit and came to eat with her—it's something that made Grandmother so happy. She got to wake up and cook for her grandson. I believe that everything that happens is always for the good.

Now Tam gets to be beside Grandmother, to hug and kiss her, something he didn't do much before. I believe...

Democrats Pick Anucha Burpachaisri as Bangkok Governor Candidate, Unveiling Vision Tomorrow Afternoon

The Democratic Party has selected Anucha Burpachaisri, a former Bangkok MP, as its candidate for Bangkok governor, with his vision to be unveiled May 16 after the party struggled to recruit more prominent figures constrained by employment c

4d ago Khaosod

The Democratic Party's candidate selection committee has finalized its choice for Bangkok governor candidate following the debut of potential candidates at the AI Demo Day event promoting digital economy advancement through AI on May 12. The selected candidate is Anucha Burpachaisri, a former Bangkok MP from the Democratic Party and former list candidate for Bhumjaithai Party, from which he has since resigned.

Dr. Pichai Rukprecha, or Dr. Aung, executive advisor for LINE Plus and former CEO of LINE Thailand and Google Thailand, as well as former spokesperson for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, was initially considered. However, speculation arose that Pichai would be the candidate due to his qualifications matching what party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and deputy leader Sakoltee Pattiyakul had outlined: experience in politics, under 60 years old, capable of working with the government, and knowledgeable in IT.

Ultimately, the Democratic Party selected Anucha because Pichai cannot run due to contractual restrictions with LINE, despite the party's attempts to recruit him since the February parliamentary elections. The party also approached several other potential candidates to challenge incumbent governor Chadchart Sittipunt, but faced rejections due to concerns about the difficulty of competing against him or contractual obstacles with their current employers.

Anucha, though considered a familiar face, was chosen because he previously served as Bangkok MP for Khlong Toei District 2 and served as deputy spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office under General Prayut Chan-o-cha. The party believes he may secure more seats than the 9 seats won in the 2022 elections. Anucha's official unveiling and vision presentation will take place on May 16 at 2 p.m. at the Democratic Party headquarters.

Priyadarshi Slams Government Insincerity, Blocks Constitutional Amendments While Benefiting from 2017 Charter, Nurtures Blue Ticket System

Opposition MP Priyadarshi Chumphol criticized the Thai government for failing to pursue constitutional amendments despite a clear February 8 public referendum supporting a complete constitutional overhaul rather than piecemeal changes to the 2017 charter. He argues the government's inaction while benefiting from the existing constitution demonstrates insincerity and predicts the administration will not survive long if it continues exploiting public hardship while protecting those profiting from monopolistic practices.

4d ago Khaosod

At 11:05 a.m. on May 15, 2025, during the first joint parliamentary session regarding an urgent matter concerning approval for consideration of bills not yet approved by parliament under Article 147, Paragraph 2 of the constitution, Priyadarshi Chumphol, a Pheu Thai party list MP, raised concerns about why the cabinet had not submitted the constitutional amendment bill to parliament despite the February 8 public referendum clearly showing majority support for drafting an entirely new constitution rather than merely patching the 2017 charter.

Since February 8, society has become increasingly aware of the 2017 charter's problems. Priyadarshi pointed to the Election Commission's delayed reporting, miscounted ballots, and barcode insertion errors in voting cards—problems the public cannot address. He noted the Auditor General's office marked the one-year anniversary of a building collapse with a music video rather than taking responsibility. He cited the previous parliament speaker dismissing complaints about leaked clips involving the National Anti-Corruption Commission, and the NACC's statement essentially whitewashing a former minister in a stock manipulation case. He also mentioned the Election Commission moving toward dismissing the prime minister and other members in a parliament vote-buying case.

"The country's problems are this severe, the people's voice is this clear, yet the government remains silent, denies responsibility, and claims the constitution is parliament's matter," Priyadarshi stated.

He explained that while legally the cabinet need not be directly involved in amending Article 256 to create mechanisms for drafting a new constitution, the cabinet has two options: either resubmit the two bills that passed initial readings for parliament's approval, or clearly declare opposition and state when it will submit its own constitutional draft. However, the cabinet has chosen neither path—it neither resubmits the original bills nor provides reasonable explanation for abandonment, nor does it show clarity about submitting a new draft, with no mention even in the policy statement.

"I've carefully listened to all government arguments this past week and honestly, none of them hold up," Priyadarshi said. "The prime minister says it's parliament's matter, but how can parliament's position be independent of the cabinet's when there are 300 government MPs plus senators influenced by the PM? When government representatives say the cabinet will move on this but ask for it to be at the end of their tenure, I ask: how do you know we're not already at the end? I'm not Nostradamus, but I know any government that exploits people's hardship while allowing the wealthy to profit from hoarding oil won't last long."

Mbappé Says Arbeloa Views Him as Real Madrid's Fourth-Choice Striker – Arbeloa Denies the Claim

Kylian Mbappé claimed Real Madrid's Álvaro Arbeloa told him he was the club's fourth-choice striker, but Arbeloa denied the allegation and said the decision to bench him against Oviedo was precautionary after his recent thigh injury.

4d ago Khaosod

Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappé claims Álvaro Arbeloa told him he is the club's fourth-choice forward, though Arbeloa immediately denied making such a statement.

Mbappé returned to action for Real Madrid after recovering from a thigh injury in a 2-0 victory over Real Oviedo on May 14th. However, when he entered the pitch as a substitute in the 69th minute at Santiago Bernabéu, he was booed by the home crowd.

Real Madrid supporters have criticized their talented forward in recent weeks, questioning his commitment, particularly after he was deemed unfit to play in El Clásico last weekend, which the team lost to Barcelona, handing them the La Liga title.

After the match, Mbappé gave an interview explaining that Arbeloa had informed him of his fourth-choice status: "I'm 100 percent fine. I didn't play because the coach told me I'm the fourth backup striker, behind Franco Mastantuono, Vinícius Júnior, and Gonzalo García."

"In the end, I accept it and I play when it's time to play," he added.

Mbappé also addressed criticism over his vacation in Sardinia while recovering from injury, which had upset some fans: "The club gave me permission to be away from Madrid. I don't understand what people are saying, but I have to accept it."

Arbeloa responded to Mbappé's comments, saying: "Perhaps he didn't understand me well. I don't know what to tell you. For me, it's clear that a player who four days ago wasn't even a reserve shouldn't start today, especially since this isn't a final or a decisive match."

"Besides, we have a game on Sunday where he will definitely start, as I've already told him. I understand that Kylian Mbappé is unhappy about not playing today, but it was a decision based on the circumstances. As I've said before, I didn't want to take any risks," Arbeloa concluded.
