Songkhla Province has partnered with Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF) and the CPF Running Club to organize a charity walk-and-run event called 'CPF RUN FOR CHARITY 2026.' More than 1,600 dedicated runners came together to share "the power of giving," raising 785,000 baht after expenses, which was donated to Tinsulanonda Fisheries College to support education and contribute to the construction of a historical learning center dedicated to General Prem Tinsulanonda.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Winit Theppanit, District Officer of Songkhla, alongside Kittisak Kwaopanich, Director of Tinsulanonda Fisheries College, and Bunserm Charoonwattana, Senior Managing Director of CPF's Livestock Feed Business Division. The District Officer stated that this collaboration between CPF and Songkhla Province reflects the collective strength of all sectors—government, private, and public—working together to build a strong and sustainable society while promoting health and fostering a spirit of sharing in Thai society.

"The funds from this activity will be used to develop education and support the construction of a monument to General Prem Tinsulanonda within the college, serving as a historical learning resource and source of inspiration for youth," said Kittisak Kwaopanich, Director of Tinsulanonda Fisheries College.

Meanwhile, Bunserm Charoonwattana revealed that CPF is organizing 'CPF RUN FOR CHARITY' for the 11th consecutive year under the concept of "doing good for society." Over the past decade, runners have collectively covered more than 600,000 kilometers, and CPF has delivered a total of 18 million baht to hospitals and various organizations throughout the country to support the purchase of medical equipment and strengthen the public health system, benefiting society as a whole. KAYIN STATE — Karen armed forces have seized a Myanmar military base in the strategic Mutraw (Hpapun) area, following sustained attacks by allied resistance groups, according to local reports.

On 28 April 2026, the Karen Information Center (KIC) reported that the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), in coordination with allied forces, captured the "Kabaw Tu" base from the Myanmar military on 25 April in Lu Thaw Township.

The base, located in the Mutraw area between Hpapun and Kamamaung, had been considered a key strategic position used by Myanmar forces to control transport routes and security in the region for nearly 30 years.

Sources said the operation was carried out through a siege-style offensive, with Myanmar forces attempting to defend the position while also relying heavily on airstrikes to repel the advance.

KNLA Brigade 5 spokesperson Lt. Col. Saw Kler Doh said Myanmar forces conducted near-daily aerial bombardments prior to the capture, but the base was fully seized by KNLA troops at around midday on 25 April.

Following the takeover, KNLA and allied forces conducted clearing operations in surrounding areas. However, details on seized weapons and casualties from both sides have not been disclosed.

The capture of Kabaw Tu follows a series of recent gains by resistance forces. In late March, KNLA and allies also seized two other Myanmar military bases in northern Hpapun, including Tae Nay Jo and Kaw Soe Jo.

Since the 2021 coup in Myanmar, the Mutraw area has become a key battleground between the military and resistance forces, with ongoing clashes reported across the region.

Currently, around 10 Myanmar military bases remain in the area, including the main Hpapun base, while pro-military Border Guard Forces continue to reinforce positions amid fears of escalating fighting.

On April 28, 2569, Dr. Kittipong Pongsurvet, Sub-district Mayor of Pho Klang, visited the Luang Pradoo area in Huai Thaeng District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, to investigate allegations that a sub-district registrar had illegally registered 27 foreign nationals, predominantly Chinese, with fake birth certificates. Three of these individuals had falsified registrations listing their residence at a house in Luang Pradoo Village 7. However, when officials inspected the property, they discovered the house had been demolished and removed from the site. The location now sits empty, containing only abandoned concrete pillars overgrown with weeds on land measuring approximately 1 rai 3 ngan.

A former village assistant confirmed the house was demolished and relocated in 2566. The actual homeowner, Saeng Chan, age 55, disclosed that she demolished and relocated her house in July 2566 and had notified the sub-district municipality with official documentation. She was unaware that others had used her old address until the recent sub-district elections in early 2569, when she discovered multiple people, including three children with foreign-sounding names, were registered at her former residence.

Dr. Kittipong stated that officials are gathering evidence and forwarding the case to provincial authorities, the National Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Department of Special Investigation to determine whether an organized network is behind the scheme. He expressed confidence that a single individual could not have orchestrated this fraud and that other parties must be involved.

On April 28, 2569, at Government House, Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced the cabinet's approval of a national energy agenda aimed at mitigating the impact of volatile energy prices and promoting efficient energy use. The cabinet approved measures to protect residential electricity consumers by capping the rate at no more than 3 baht per unit for the first 200 units of consumption in the June billing cycle, benefiting approximately 20 million households. For households exceeding 200 units of consumption, the government encourages consideration of solar rooftop systems, offering promotional measures including low-interest loans, installment payments lower than electricity bills, and power buyback options.
