The gunman's daughter stormed her father's ex-wife's house, fatally shooting her former father-in-law and ex-brother-in-law, and tearfully revealed that her father was pressured by the other party's refusal to comply with court orders regarding asset division. She is appealing for public understanding.

In the case of 47-year-old Chayant, a former son-in-law, he used a firearm to attack 53-year-old Sarinee (ex-mother-in-law) causing serious injury, before shooting 35-year-old Satya (ex-brother-in-law) and 64-year-old Songuan (ex-father-in-law) who died. The incident occurred on the evening of May 6 at a residence in Lad Yai subdistrict, Muang district, Kanchanaburi province.

On May 8, 2025, reporter spoke with 27-year-old Nathanenan (Min), daughter of Chayant, the suspect who committed the shooting that killed his ex-father-in-law and ex-brother-in-law, as well as seriously wounding his ex-mother-in-law. She revealed the reasons that prompted her father to decide to commit this brutal act.

Chayant's daughter stated that the pressure her father faced likely stemmed from the asset division issue involving marital property between her father and his ex-wife, who separated in late 2024. The ex-wife filed a case at Kanchanaburi Provincial Court, which ruled on a clear division of assets between both parties.

Her father received rights to harvest sugarcane from rented land totaling 750 rai, with harvesting rights to 300 rai, plus rights to one tractor, one pickup truck, and one trailer. Her father wanted to use the tractor as collateral with the sugar mill to obtain funds for the next sugarcane planting season.

Her father requested that the ex-wife's family help transfer the tractor's ownership rights according to the court order, but the ex-wife's family, particularly the ex-mother-in-law Sarinee, refused to transfer it and demanded 100,000 baht as an exchange fee. This prevented her father from using the tractor as collateral to secure funds for the next sugarcane crop.

Her father became stressed because he had no money to pay tuition for his younger daughter who was studying nursing. On the day of the incident, he said he was going to check on the fields, but ultimately went to his ex-wife's house, leading to the shooting.

Min further revealed that she believes the pressure from the ex-wife's family's refusal to transfer the tractor according to the court order was definitely the cause that prompted her father's actions. After the shooting, her father called her around 2:00 AM saying he wanted to end his own life to resolve the problem, but she convinced him to turn himself in to police.

Although her father is not dead today, he is like a dead man because he has a chronic illness but must spend the rest of his life in prison. She wants those following this case to understand the circumstances that led her father to commit this act. She acknowledges that her father's method of solving the problem this way was wrong, but it was because her father had no other options and felt cornered into making this decision.

Attorney Somhuang Intabut, who handled the asset and marital property division case for Chayant, confirmed that the court's asset division ruling matched the information provided by Chayant's daughter. He stated that he and Chayant had repeatedly attempted to follow up and demand compliance with the Kanchanaburi Provincial Court's orders regarding asset transfers, but the ex-wife's family remained unresponsive and refused to comply with the court orders.

Sri Lankan authorities arrested 30 Chinese and Vietnamese nationals on May 7 in the latest operation against online fraud networks, bringing the total number of suspects detained since the weekend to 261, according to police. The arrests were made in Werahera, outside Colombo, with detainees aged 19-39 to remain in custody until May 14.

Authorities had previously raided two scam centers on May 3, apprehending 157 suspects. On May 6, police shut down another operation in Colombo's Kollupitiya district, where 74 Vietnamese nationals were arrested.

The embassy attributed the proliferation of scam centers in Sri Lanka to the country's advanced telecommunications infrastructure, favorable geographic location, and relatively lenient visa policies that have attracted organized cybercrime networks.

Police were startled to discover a large cache of explosives and firearms during a search of a Chinese national's residence following up on a vehicle rollover case. The suspect claims the weapons came from Rayong and were intended for self-harm, though police remain skeptical and are conducting detailed interrogations.

At 6:00 PM on May 8, 2025, Deputy Commander Ponpan Wongmanesetwat of Chonburi Provincial Police, along with investigation officers from Chonburi Province, Chonburi Forensic Unit, Na Jomtien and Huai Yai Police Stations, conducted a search of a residential property in Soi 2, Huai Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The operation was initiated following a report from Na Jomtien Police Station about a car rollover in their jurisdiction involving a foreign driver. The suspect was identified as Ming Chen Sun, 31 years old, holding a Chinese passport and a pink Thai ID card, along with a Taiwanese woman. Military weapons were discovered in the vehicle during the initial search.

The search of the residence yielded shocking discoveries, including 4 C-4 explosives weighing 8 pounds, modified K-75 explosives, M16 firearms, 5.56mm ammunition marked LOT RTA (manufactured by the Royal Thai Army Ammunition Plant for military use), and other weapons. Mobile phone footage revealed shooting practice clips and explosive training sessions with Cambodian soldiers.

After the discovery of the large weapons cache, police cordoned off the area around the house to a 100-meter radius and called in the EOD unit to recover the explosives found inside.

During initial questioning, Ming Chen Sun stated that he previously operated a liquor shop in Cambodia but relocated to Thailand following border issues. He claimed to have purchased the weapons through a LINE group in Rayong province but could not specify the exact location. He stated his intention was to use the explosives for self-harm due to depression.

A pack of approximately 20 stray dogs attacked an 8-year-old boy in Khlong Soi Mun Mon community, Khlong Phai Subdistrict, Si Khit District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province on May 8, 2026. The incident was documented on CCTV and occurred when the child was riding an electric motorcycle through an intersection within the community before being swarmed and mauled by the dogs, causing injuries that shocked residents in the area.

Following the attack, relatives rushed the boy to the hospital for wound treatment and rabies vaccination. The child is now experiencing fear and refuses to travel through the area again due to the large population of stray dogs inhabiting the neighborhood.

The Khlong Phai Municipal Administration has recently launched field inspections of homes keeping dogs in the area to develop action plans and prevent future incidents. Local residents are calling on relevant authorities to urgently and seriously address the stray dog problem, noting that people have been chased and bitten multiple times in the past.
