Man Arrested for Drug Use After Throwing Wooden Stick at Vehicle on Sukhumvit 50
A 50-year-old man was arrested in Bangkok after throwing a wooden stick at a vehicle on Sukhumvit 50, confessing he was under the influence of methamphetamine and experiencing hallucinations at the time.
On May 6, senior police officials coordinated the arrest of Surasak, nicknamed 'Goh,' age 50, on charges of illegal possession of Class 1 drugs (methamphetamine). The incident occurred on May 5 at approximately 10:19 PM when a resident driving on Sukhumvit 50 near Soi Saen Suk in Phra Khanong district, Bangkok, was struck by a wooden object thrown by an unidentified man in dark clothing riding a motorcycle. The victim filed a complaint with Phra Khanong Police Station.
Following the report, police launched an investigation and learned that the suspect lived in the Phra Khanong area. Neighbors identified him as 'Goh' or Surasak, noting his history of causing trouble and drug use. Officers located him at a local guesthouse in Phra Khanong Tai subdistrict and brought him in for questioning.
When questioned, the suspect confessed to the incident. He explained that before the attack, he had used drugs and experienced hallucinations, believing the driver would attack him. Panicking, he grabbed a wooden stick from the roadside and threw it at the passing vehicle before fleeing on his motorcycle. Police transferred him to Phra Khanong Police Station for legal proceedings.
