Land Transport Department Cracks Down: Revokes Gas Inspection Station License and Engineer's Credentials for Fraud
The Department of Land Transport revoked the operating license of a gas vehicle inspection station and stripped its signatory engineer of professional credentials for issuing false inspection certificates. An investigation found the station issued certificates for vehicles in different provinces simultaneously while the engineer was confirmed to be working elsewhere and never conducted actual inspections. The department warned all gas inspection operators that certificates must accurately reflect real inspections and urged the public to report similar violations to hotline 1584.
The Department of Land Transport is taking strict action, revoking both the inspection station's license and the engineer's professional credentials for fraud. Nitipat Thaichongrak, Director of the Automotive Engineering Office and Department of Land Transport spokesperson, announced that a comprehensive inspection operation uncovered document irregularities in vehicle tax collection after discovering that inspection certificates for gas vehicles contradicted actual facts.
The detailed investigation revealed that the gas vehicle inspection station issued certificates for vehicles located in different provinces during the same time period. When checking records in the information system, investigators found evidence that the signatory engineer was working in other locations all along and never actually traveled to inspect those vehicles.
These actions constitute violations including issuing false inspection and testing reports, or issuing inspection and testing certificates without actually conducting inspections and tests, as well as failing to properly oversee and supervise inspection and testing personnel in accordance with regulations under sections 3.1 and 3.2 of the Department of Land Transport's announcement on criteria and procedures for revoking approvals for CNG/LPG vehicle inspection and testing personnel.
"The department has immediately revoked the gas vehicle inspection station's operating license and reported the engineer to the Engineering Council for professional misconduct. The Engineering Council has voted to revoke the engineer's professional license," the statement said.
The department warns all gas vehicle inspection station operators and personnel that inspection and testing certificates must accurately reflect actual inspections and tests conducted. All inspection, testing, and personnel activities must strictly comply with departmental regulations to ensure the safety of CNG/LPG vehicle users and all road users. Anyone who witnesses violations by gas inspection stations can report them to the Department of Land Transport hotline 1584, and the department will investigate and take legal action accordingly.
