Commando Recaptures Sex Trafficking Agent, 19-Year-Old Victim: Suspect Evaded Bail for 12 Years
Police have arrested a 41-year-old sex trafficking agent named Amrit who evaded bail for over 12 years following charges related to arranging a 19-year-old woman for a paying client at a Bangkok hotel in 2015. Though the suspect admits to being present but denies involvement in arranging the transaction, authorities seized his phone and have referred the case to Thonburi Criminal Court for prosecution.
On May 13, 2026, Police Lieutenant General Theerachat Theerachatdharm, commander of the Police Force, ordered officers to arrest a 41-year-old man named Amrit in a village in Bang Yai District, Nonthaburi Province, based on arrest warrant No. 285/2558 from Thonburi Criminal Court dated August 10. He faces charges of sexual misconduct (indecency) and human trafficking violations.
The arrest stemmed from an April 15, 2558 incident when Amrit allegedly acted as a pimp, arranging for a 19-year-old woman to be taken to a hotel in the Prasat Charoen area of Bangkok for a client. After completing the transaction, Amrit returned to pick up the woman and received a 1,500 baht commission from the client.
Police later apprehended Amrit and seized his mobile phone used for coordinating the trafficking. However, he denied all charges and requested bail, then fled for more than 12 years until authorities recently tracked him to a residential area in Bang Yai District.
During initial interrogation, Amrit admitted to being the person named in the warrant but maintained that he only drove the woman to the location on the day in question and was not involved in prostitution arrangements as alleged. He has been turned over to Thonburi Criminal Court for further legal proceedings.
