KSL Group is showcasing its sugar product lineup and unveiling Kane's Low GI sugar syrup at ThaiFex 2026, Asia's largest food and beverage exhibition. The product line is designed for health-conscious consumers and beverage businesses seeking precise dosing, consistent flavor, and solutions to sugar dissolution issues in cold drinks.

According to Chalatr Chintummit, CEO of Khon Kaen Sugar Company Limited (KSL Group), the company is displaying natural sugarcane-based products certified with Low GI (glycemic index) status by Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore and meeting ISO 26642:2010 international standards. Kane's Low GI sugar is formulated to slow sugar absorption into the bloodstream, provide sustained energy, and deliver antioxidant benefits.

At 12:30 p.m. on May 27, 2025, social media pages across Khon Kaen province shared a video clip from a checkpoint at Ban Fang Police Station, Ban Fang District, Khon Kaen Province. A Facebook user posted a complaint saying the incident happened to someone close to them, questioning the police's enforcement approach. The post stated: "The driver had no license but showed a national ID. Korrapob Netsudsong, the Ban Fang Police Station commander, explained that officers initially stopped a vehicle driven by a young woman and discovered multiple document and vehicle registration violations: the car was not registered, it used an old license plate that had been revoked by the Transport Office due to unpaid taxes for over three years, and the driver could not produce a valid license.

According to law, when a driver lacks a license, they must be referred to provincial court—fines cannot be issued at the police station level. This applies nationwide throughout Thailand. However, after further investigation, police found the driver had already filed for new vehicle registration and was waiting for the new license plate from the Transport Office. Considering she was a young first-time offender with no criminal history in the system, officers exercised discretion and issued only a warning, advising her to complete the registration process and always carry her license while driving.

The commander emphasized there was no arrest or ticket issued—only a check and warning with guidance to comply with the law. He added that regarding the social media post from a local page operator: the person posting was connected to the driver and unhappy about the vehicle stop. Police confirmed the traffic stop followed standard procedures when document and vehicle violations were discovered, with no intention to discriminate or single anyone out.

Police also reminded the public to ensure their vehicle registration, license plate, and driver's license are all valid and current before operating a vehicle, as using an improperly registered vehicle or revoked license plates constitutes a legal offense.

At 11:35 a.m. on May 27, 2569, Senate spokesperson Pisit Apisatwanapong addressed the case of Nattapong Ruengpanya, a list-based House representative and Pheu Thai party leader, who posted on Facebook accusing the Senate of undermining key democratic principles by functioning as a 'blue system.' Eighty-nine senators subsequently issued a statement demanding an apology within three days, which Nattapong stated he did not anticipate providing.

Pisit confirmed that the matter will not affect the Senate's legislative work, distinguishing between Nattapong's personal expressions and his official duties. On May 27, 2569, the Criminal Court for Corruption Cases Region 1 in Saraburi granted bail of 400,000 baht each to Wachraphol and Supha in the case involving alleged concealment of documents regarding luxury watches owned by General Prayut Wongsuwan, former Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister. The case was brought by Veera Somkhwamkid, secretary-general of the People's Anti-Corruption Network, against 12 NACC executives and board members. General Wachraphol Prasarrajkij, former NACC Chairman, and Supha Piyachitti, NACC board member, were each sentenced to three years imprisonment under Criminal Code sections 157 and 83. After both officials filed bail applications for 400,000 baht each, the court approved their temporary release on the condition that they are prohibited from traveling abroad without court authorization.

A coalition of ten Thai steel industry associations, led by Nava Chantanasurakhon, chairman of the Thai Hot-Rolled Steel Plate Association, met with Industry Minister Varawut Silpaarchcha and senior ministry officials to discuss and present proposals for resolving Thailand's steel industry crisis. The meeting addressed the escalating problem of low-cost steel imports and global overcapacity that has severely impacted Thai manufacturers throughout the supply chain.

The coalition, representing over 510 companies and employing more than 51,000 workers, emphasized that the steel industry is foundational to Thailand's economy and serves as the backbone for downstream industries including construction, automotive, machinery, electrical appliances, and food packaging. Thailand currently faces high import dependency, consuming approximately 16.5-18 million tons of steel annually, with domestic production accounting for only 6.5-7 million tons per year. The coalition proposed three major measures with eight sub-measures to address the crisis:

Steel Industry Restructuring Measures: 1.1 Ban on establishment and expansion of production capacity in overcapacity sectors such as hot-rolled steel plate, wire rod, steel pipe, structural steel, and stainless steel, allowing only investments to improve efficiency and quality without expanding capacity. 1.2 Regulation of steel bar mills using induction furnace (IF) technology, requiring them to pass technology certification and quality control standards through the Thai Industrial Standards Institute's technical committee to prevent substandard steel from entering the market.

Industry Minister Varawuth announced signing a draft regulation banning new establishment and capacity expansion in the hot-rolled steel plate industry to address overcapacity and maintain industry stability. The ministry also recognizes quality concerns with IF systems and has a clear policy to transition Thai steel mills from IF technology to Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) systems.

"We will consider and establish appropriate transition guidelines and timelines, while regulating the use of IF-produced steel according to consumer applications to ensure safety and compliance with industrial standards," the minister stated.

2.
