Global PCB Manufacturers Unite to Position Thailand as World-Class AI-Ready Electronics Circuit Board Hub

Global PCB manufacturers gathered in Bangkok to unveil initiatives positioning Thailand as a world-class electronics circuit board manufacturing hub, with a focus on supporting AI infrastructure development. The 2026 Thailand PCB Industry Summit released a strategic report highlighting market opportunities amid global supply chain restructuring, with projections showing the global PCB market could reach $113.7 billion by 2030 driven by AI demand.

5 May Khaosod

Major global PCB manufacturers have announced their readiness to drive Thailand toward becoming a regional center for advanced-level PCB manufacturing capable of supporting world-class artificial intelligence infrastructure. As global supply chains undergo restructuring and demand for AI processing power continues to surge, Thailand is emerging as an important new manufacturing hub for the electronics PCB industry at advanced production levels.

On April 27 in Bangkok, the Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA) partnered with the Thailand Printed Circuit Board Association (THPCA) to host the "2026 Thailand PCB Industry Summit," alongside the release of a survey report titled "Opportunities for Thailand's PCB Industry Amid the AI Wave and Geopolitical Shifts." The summit focused on critical practical business issues in Thailand, including work permits, workforce development, infrastructure, and government policies.

This strategic-level leadership forum received support from the Hong Kong Printed Circuit Association (HKPCA) and the China Printed Circuit Association (CPCA), with over 60 executives and representatives from manufacturers in Taiwan, China, and Thailand in attendance. Thai government agencies also participated, including the Board of Investment (BOI), Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), National Science and Technology Policy Office (NXPD), and the Ministry of Labor, reflecting the Thai government's commitment to PCB industry development and international cooperation.

The cross-regional survey clearly indicates growth directions for the global PCB market and Thailand's potential. A key highlight was the launch of the industry survey report on "Opportunities for Thailand's PCB Industry Amid the AI Wave and Geopolitical Shifts," developed through collaboration between TPCA, THPCA, and HKPCA.

The report compiled survey data and gathered perspectives from industry players across regions, reflecting strategic issues commonly emphasized by PCB manufacturers in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand, including investment strategy formulation for Thailand, supply chain strengthening in the region, and human resource development.

This not only elevates industry credibility and provides a genuine overview of the sector but also underscores that amid global industrial restructuring, Asia's PCB industry is moving toward closer regional cooperation integration.

AI is driving the global PCB market toward multi-billion-dollar growth, opening a window of opportunity for Thailand to advance into high-value manufacturing. The report indicates that the global PCB market continues to grow, benefiting from AI infrastructure investments. It is projected that the market will reach $92.4 billion USD in 2025 and is expected to grow to $113.7 billion USD by 2030, with an annual growth rate of 23.1 percent. The report shows that demand for AI processing capabilities is becoming the primary driver of global PCB industry growth, while also accelerating advanced manufacturing and supply chain restructuring, which will bring new waves of economic and industrial growth opportunities for Thailand.

To address human resource challenges, TPCA organized a "Thailand-Taiwan HR Network Meeting and Forum" in the afternoon of the same day.

3 Warning Signs from Your Ears Before Stroke: Don't Overlook These Symptoms

Three ear symptoms—sudden hearing loss, tinnitus, and ear pain—may warn of imminent stroke, especially when affecting only one ear, and doctors urge immediate medical attention to prevent severe disability or death.

5 May Khaosod

Doctors warn of three ear-related warning signs that precede stroke and are commonly overlooked. Early detection of these symptoms is crucial for prevention and recovery.

Stroke is no longer exclusively a disease of the elderly—it's increasingly affecting younger people and becoming a serious health threat to younger generations. When stroke occurs, symptoms are severe and progress rapidly; even slight delays in treatment can lead to paralysis, disability, or death.

Concerningly, the body often sends warning signals before severe symptoms appear, but these signals are subtle and frequently missed. Recognizing abnormalities early is critical in determining recovery chances and long-term quality of life.

One case of a retired Chinese man illustrates this: despite being in good health, he experienced sudden ringing in his left ear with a buzzing sound, which he initially attributed to fatigue. However, the symptom worsened—the tinnitus persisted even in quiet environments and his hearing declined. Medical examination revealed his left cerebral artery was narrowed by more than 70%, indicating stroke risk.

Doctors identify three ear-related warning signs to watch for:

1. Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss Medical research shows sudden hearing loss isn't only an ear condition; it can be an early warning sign of stroke. This occurs because the inner ear, auditory nervous system, and cerebral blood vessels are interconnected. When blood flow to the brain or inner ear decreases, sudden hearing loss can result.

Unlike age-related hearing loss, which occurs gradually and affects both ears, sudden hearing loss develops rapidly—within hours or days—and typically affects only one ear without clear cause. Accompanying symptoms like dizziness, balance problems, weakness in limbs, speech difficulty, or vision problems further increase stroke risk.

2. Tinnitus Tinnitus is hearing sounds in the ear—such as buzzing or ringing—without external sources. Though common, it can sometimes reflect circulatory or central nervous system abnormalities. Sudden, continuous tinnitus affecting only one ear may signal cerebrovascular problems. Research shows people with tinnitus have approximately 2.5 times higher stroke risk than the general population.

3. Ear Pain Although rare, ear pain can warn of impending stroke. Since multiple nerves connect to the ear—including the trigeminal nerve, facial nerve, and glossopharyngeal nerve—brain circulation abnormalities can cause ear pain. Symptoms vary: sharp pain, dull ache, or deep ear pressure, and routine ear examinations typically show no abnormalities.

Chaos! Dancing Robot Goes Rogue at Chinese School Sports Day, Launches Kung Fu Kicks at Students

A dancing robot malfunctioned during a school sports day in China's Xinjiang region, losing control and launching kung fu kicks at nearby students before its operator regained control of the device.

5 May Khaosod

Robot malfunction at school sports day! A dancing robot went haywire during a color sports festival at a school in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwestern China. What was meant to be a fun entertainment show became an unexpected and thrilling mishap when the robot malfunctioned on the field.

Online videos captured the bizarre moment when the dancing robot initially performed confidently, executing both dance moves and martial arts-style gestures while spectators cheered. However, the cheerful atmosphere quickly changed when students rushed onto the field to perform synchronized movements with the robot—apparently the beginning of an unforeseen chaos.

Just seconds into the joint performance, the robot lost its balance, stumbled, and fell to the ground. Reports suggest it became confused by the number of people surrounding it before beginning to move erratically.

The situation escalated when the robot started moving without direction and began throwing kung fu kicks resembling attacks at nearby performers, leaving several students bewildered before they cautiously backed away from the area.

The incident created some alarm on the field as the robot continued moving uncontrollably, as if its "combat mode" had activated on its own, leaving spectators anxiously wondering how the performance would end.

Eventually, the situation was brought under control when the robot's operator rushed onto the field and quickly removed the android to safety. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident, which ended up being both funny and suspenseful during the school's color sports day.

Democrats Won't Back Down: New Evidence in Saksiam Case, Set to Request NACC Review

Democrats are pushing for a Supreme Court review of the NACC's dismissal of corruption charges against former Transport Minister Saksiam Chidchob, citing newly discovered evidence of ministerial interference in procurement processes. A join

5 May Khaosod

On May 5, 2569, Democrat Party deputy leader Satit Wongnongtoy announced progress on the case involving former Transport Minister Saksiam Chidchob, whose stock-holding allegations were dismissed by the NACC. A joint task force between the Democrat Party and Thai Rak Thai Party is rushing to prepare a petition under Article 236 of the Constitution, gathering signatures from lawmakers to submit to the House Speaker for referral to the Supreme Court to appoint an independent investigator to examine the NACC's conduct in this matter, citing concerns that the NACC's decision contradicts the facts.

Satit revealed the key new evidence: an administrative order issued by Saksiam when he served as minister requiring relevant agencies to inform the minister before any procurement bidding process. The party contends this order demonstrates interference with legal procedures and constitutes a clear conflict of interest under anti-corruption law—a matter the NACC never fully examined. The petition draft is expected to be completed within this week, with submission to the NACC early next week to request a review of the original ruling, to ensure proper standards of transparency and accountability in scrutinizing political officeholders.

FDA Raids Canned Fish Factory, Seizes 13,000 Cans Over Suspect Fish Species

FDA inspectors seized over 13,000 cans from a Samut Sakhon fish factory that mislabeled tilapia and catfish as mackerel. The facility faces potential fraud charges carrying prison sentences up to 10 years if violations are confirmed.

5 May Khaosod

On May 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM, Patawi Yaowalaksana, special investigator and regional consumer protection director, led an FDA team including staff from the Ministry of Public Health, along with officials from Samut Sakhon Province's public health, fisheries, and consumer protection offices to inspect a canned fish manufacturing facility. The investigation found that instead of mackerel as labeled, the factory was using tilapia and black-chin catfish in production. Inspectors seized 12,760 cans at the factory and 250 cans from retail locations, with 9,500 already recalled from the market. No formal charges have been filed yet, though officials stated that if violations are confirmed, charges will follow. The facility was also found to not meet good manufacturing practices (GMP) standards. A government minister is scheduled to inspect the facility on May 6 at noon. The FDA emphasized that substituting mackerel with other fish species while labeling them as mackerel constitutes consumer fraud under the 1979 Food Act, carrying penalties of 6 months to 10 years imprisonment and fines between 5,000 to 100,000 baht. Additional penalties of up to 30,000 baht apply for misleading labels. The FDA warned all food manufacturers to conduct business ethically, as such actions damage confidence in Thailand's food industry and will result in maximum legal prosecution if violations are confirmed.

GISTDA Partners with Finland's ICEYE to Strengthen Thailand's Disaster Monitoring System

Thailand partnered with Finland's ICEYE to deploy advanced radar satellite technology for disaster monitoring, addressing weather challenges that optical satellites cannot penetrate during rainy seasons and floods.

GISTDA Partners with Finland's ICEYE to Strengthen Thailand's Disaster Monitoring System

On May 5 at The Athenee Hotel Bangkok, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation launched the 'GISTDA – ICEYE EO Satellite Joint Development Workshop' in collaboration with ICEYE, a world-leading Finnish radar satellite technology provider. The partnership aims to advance Thailand's space technology capabilities to international standards and address increasingly severe climate change challenges.

Attending the ceremony were H.E. Kristiina Kuvaja-Xanthopoulos, Finnish Ambassador to Thailand; Mr. Dylan Monaghan, ICEYE Asia-Pacific Vice President; and Dr. Pokorn Apaipanthung, GISTDA Director, along with agency officials.

Dr. Pokorn explained that Thailand previously struggled to monitor disaster situations during rainy seasons because optical satellite imagery cannot penetrate dense clouds and rain. However, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology has emerged as a critical game-changer. SAR technology is invaluable because it can penetrate clouds, operate in darkness, and is key to effectively monitoring recurring disasters including floods, land subsidence, and coastal erosion around the clock.

The ICEYE partnership is not merely a data service agreement but part of GISTDA's systematic 'Satellite Development Roadmap' for the coming decade, comprising four strategic pillars: 1) Manufacturing and controlling diverse earth observation satellites, including Thailand's own future SAR satellites; 2) Space sovereignty by reducing dependence on foreign technology and establishing independent data security; 3) Becoming ASEAN's comprehensive technology hub spanning production, data processing, and intelligent information delivery; and 4) Addressing national agendas and advancing the digital economy.

Beyond disaster management, SAR satellite data plays a crucial role in driving the economy, particularly agriculture, by accurately assessing soil moisture even during rainy seasons, strengthening maritime security through vessel tracking to prevent illegal fishing and territorial violations, and enhancing national security.

"Today's workshop represents a fusion of world-class expertise with Thailand's satellite programs to create practical solutions and sustainable economic value," said GISTDA's director. "This collaboration, supported by the Finnish Ambassador, reflects the strong relationship between our nations focused on advanced innovation. ICEYE is ready to transfer technology and co-develop innovations with Thai agencies to design data services that best suit Thailand's context."
