Elevating Parliament for a New Era: Sophon Pushes for Transparent 3D Media Room That Delivers Real Value and Connects Citizens to Democracy
Thailand's House of Representatives is renovating its media room with a 54-million-baht investment in 3D technology to boost public engagement with parliament and democratic processes.
On May 8, 2026, Sophon Saraum, President of the House of Representatives, along with Sirot Phaetphan, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, and executive staff met with representatives from the Department of Public Works and Urban Planning to review progress on the media information room renovation project for learning and communication purposes (B2 level), budgeted at 54 million baht.
The Department of Public Works presented construction designs in 3D visual format, transforming the space into a comprehensive, modern information hub. The facility will serve as a research area for students and the public in the digital age, supporting public communications while respecting the existing building structure and ensuring maximum safety.
Sophon instructed that operations must be swift, thorough, and deliver maximum benefit. He directed the team to remove unnecessary details and components to maximize budget value, ensure transparency, and serve genuine operational needs.
The project aims to strengthen citizen participation in democracy by providing a space for the public to learn about the legislature's role and functions. Work will be accelerated to meet the established timeline.
