A transgender woman was forced to shave her head after allegedly insulting Islam during a livestream debate, sparking massive protests and chaos outside a Bangkok restaurant where she attempted to apologize.

11 May Khaosod

A transgender woman known as "Madam Lor" from Narathiwat faced a volatile confrontation in Bangkok's Ramkhamhaeng area after allegedly mocking Quranic verses and making offensive comments about Islam during a livestream. The controversy erupted from a debate over hijab-wearing by transgender Muslims, with video clips sparking backlash from Muslim communities across Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and parts of the Arab world.

Community leaders arranged a reconciliation meeting at a Ramkhamhaeng 53 restaurant on May 10, but thousands of angry protesters gathered outside despite Madam Lor's apology inside. Protesters reportedly demanded she slap herself and shave her head as penance. The situation escalated into chaos as crowds tried to breach the restaurant, forcing police to deploy over 10 officers to safely escort her to a police station.

The incident has divided public opinion online, with some condemning the alleged religious insult while others criticized the public humiliation and mob intimidation as violations of personal rights.

Carabao's Ad Sends Encouragement to 'Mother Moo and Nai Naphat,' Shares Heartfelt Lesson That Led Him to Quit Smoking, Hopes Mother and Son Will Understand Each Other Again

Carabao encourages actress Moo Pimpaka and son Nai Naphat to reconcile, sharing how a childhood accident involving his child quitting smoking transformed his parenting perspective.

11 May Khaosod

Amid ongoing public scrutiny of the relationship between actress Moo Pimpaka and her son Nai Naphat, veteran entertainer Ad Carabao has stepped forward with words of encouragement and parental wisdom, sharing a personal story that has touched many hearts.

Ad reflected on his own parenting philosophy, explaining: "Seeing the news about you and your son made me think about myself. I've always told myself that we raise our children to grow up, and then we have to let them go. We just watch from a distance, but we're ready to lift them up when they fall. I hope you and your son will come to understand and love each other again. Please let me be your source of strength."

He continued with a poignant personal revelation: "Parents love their children in ways children sometimes can't even imagine, because some things don't need explanation. I smoked from my junior diploma days until I was 34 years old. One day, after returning from a concert tour, I picked up my youngest child while still holding a cigarette in my mouth. Without realizing it, my child grabbed the cigarette from my lips, and the flame caught their tiny hand along with their cries. It was an image that shattered my heart beyond words. What I did then was quit smoking—quit it all for her, for my wife, for my beloved children who are the greatest treasure I have in this world."

Anutin emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive political outlook and said he remains unconcerned about the current political climate, focusing instead on work that benefits the nation and its citizens.

11 May Khaosod

As he previously mentioned, Anutin said he was once under Thaksin's command and is pleased for him and his family, who reportedly returned home beaming with joy.

"We let him have his private time. After this, there are legal processes he must complete. We let everything proceed smoothly first so he can adjust and spend time with his family, giving him privacy. We're happy he's been released," Anutin said.

When asked if there's a chance to meet Thaksin privately, Anutin immediately responded, "It's already happened." Once everything settles, since Bangkok is a small place, meeting with someone you know and mutually respect is nothing unusual.

Even if mistakes occur while benefiting tens of millions of people, accepting responsibility for those mistakes is a point of pride and honor.

PTT Supports GC Partnership with SCGC to Expand Petrochemical Business Scale and Meet Global Challenges

PTT Global Chemical and SCG Chemicals are studying a joint venture to combine their olefins and polyolefins operations, aiming to strengthen Thailand's petrochemical industry and compete more effectively in global markets facing overcapacit

11 May Khaosod

PTT Public Company Limited has reaffirmed its strategic portfolio management direction by supporting the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to study the feasibility of establishing a joint venture in olefins and polyolefins businesses between PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), the flagship petrochemical business of the PTT Group, and SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited (SCGC). The partnership aims to create synergies and expand business scale to address global petrochemical industry challenges.

This collaborative effort in olefins and polyolefins represents a key component of the PTT Group's P&R Portfolio Reshape strategy, which focuses on restructuring to create synergies and strengthen the petrochemical industry flagship. The company will also manage assets efficiently, with PTT's role as major shareholder directing subsidiary companies to adapt and enhance competitiveness, deliver better returns, and create long-term shareholder value.

Under the goal of creating a national champion, PTT recognizes that Thailand needs sufficient scale and integration to maintain its global market share amid overcapacity pressures and fierce regional competition. This joint venture study represents a critical strategy to maintain cost structure and supply chain integrity in the petrochemical industry, which serves as the backbone for downstream industries including packaging, automotive, and electrical appliances.

The company maintains strict financial discipline, currently in the preliminary feasibility study phase under a non-binding MoU, with results expected by the third quarter of 2025 before proceeding to rigorous due diligence. Final approval requires endorsement from relevant regulatory authorities, including the Trade Competition Commission and international antitrust standards, ensuring transparent operations and maximum benefit to Thailand's economic system and all stakeholders.

This collaboration also aligns with the vision of elevating product groups toward high value-added (HVA) solutions to reduce volatility from commodity price fluctuations and pursue environmentally sustainable business practices, thereby enhancing Thailand's competitive advantage in the new economic era.

Pheu Thai Urges Government to Fast-Track Constitutional Amendment, Key Laws, and CARE Pension Plan

Pheu Thai's parliamentary leader demands the government fast-track a constitutional amendment backed by 21 million referendum voters, alongside pension reforms and stalled labor protection laws, warning that rejecting the public mandate wou

11 May Khaosod

Pheu Thai Urges Government to Fast-Track Constitutional Amendment, Key Laws, and CARE Pension Plan, insisting that if the government is sincere in respecting the people, it must not reject the public referendum vote.

At 10:30 AM on May 11, 2025 at Parliament, Nathpong Ruangpanyawuthi, list MP and leader of the Pheu Thai Party, chaired the party's second shadow cabinet meeting and presented demands to the government. The urgent priorities are:

1. The government should confirm the constitutional amendment draft's return to parliamentary consideration quickly. In the recent election, 21 million people gave a clear mandate for a new constitution, so concerns that the old draft won't pass parliament are unconvincing. The government should honor the people's referendum intention.

2. The Cabinet should quickly approve the CARE pension formula from the Social Security Office. Labor Minister Julapan Amoriwiwattana promised to push this forward for the Social Security Fund advancement, so tomorrow's Cabinet meeting should show concrete progress.

3. The government should review multiple laws still pending Cabinet approval. Tomorrow's meeting is the final deadline to reconsider bringing stalled laws back to parliament, such as the PRTR law and labor protection law to establish fair working hours. The Cabinet should make a decision on May 12 to advance these laws to parliament.

When asked how he would monitor the Cabinet's decision on returning the original constitutional amendment draft to parliament, Nathpong stated that a government claiming to derive legitimacy from the people cannot reject the referendum in which a clear majority voted for a new constitution.

He added that if the government is genuinely sincere and respects the people's voice, it should let parliament itself decide whether the original draft will pass, rather than using concerns about its passage as an excuse to block it in Cabinet. If the government is truly sincere and respects the people, it must bring the original draft back for parliamentary consideration.

Confirmed: New Coronavirus Strain Found in Thai Bats, No Human Cases Detected

A new coronavirus strain discovered in Thai bat populations poses no immediate human health threat, according to Thailand's Digital Economy Ministry, with the virus showing lower transmissibility than COVID-19.

11 May Khaosod

Thailand's Digital Economy Ministry confirmed on May 11, 2569 that a new coronavirus strain has been discovered in Thai bat populations, with no human infections reported so far. The virus is believed to have lower disease-causing potential and transmission rates compared to COVID-19. The discovery was made through Thailand's wildlife disease surveillance system under the One Health approach, which monitors disease transmission between humans, animals, and the environment.

Meanwhile, the ministry's Anti-Fake News Center (AFNC) examined 160,397 messages on May 9, identifying 8,714 requiring verification. Most leads came from social media monitoring (8,713 messages), with 24 topics undergoing full investigation. Of 11 completed investigations, 7 were particularly popular: 2 confirmed facts, 3 fake news, and 2 distorted information. The coronavirus discovery ranked as the most-shared verified story, while other debunked claims included obtaining driver's licenses through TikTok and false reports about special economic zones permitting casinos.

The bat coronavirus discovery is genuine, confirmed jointly by the Digital Economy Ministry and the Public Health Ministry's Disease Control Department. Current COVID-19 vaccines remain effective at reducing disease severity. The risk of outbreak is assessed as low, though the ministry urges citizens to verify information from official sources only and avoid sharing unconfirmed reports on social media.

PM Issues Directives to Village Headmen and Elders on Community Care and Drug Suppression

Prime Minister Anuthit Charnveerakul issued new policy directives to village headmen and local leaders, emphasizing transparency, fairness, and strict law enforcement in managing communities while suppressing drug trafficking and modern crime. The PM stressed that leaders must combat abuse of power rather than exercise it, and must coordinate efforts to distribute state benefits equitably and protect citizens from emerging threats like human trafficking and online fraud. The government plans to hold an integrated coordination meeting within two weeks to strengthen collaboration between local administrators and police forces.

11 May Khaosod

At 11:00 AM on May 11, 2026, Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Perisivivattana announced that Prime Minister Anuthit Charnveerakul and Interior Minister presided over a policy briefing for village headmen and elders at the Government House's Santhimaitri Building (Outer Section). The briefing included Interior Ministry deputies, administrators, and representatives from village headman associations.

The Prime Minister outlined that village headmen and local leaders serve as critical mechanisms of governance, operating as the frontline closest to citizens and serving as a lifeline during times of hardship. They bridge the gap between state institutions and communities, bearing responsibility for public welfare while acting as the public's eyes and ears. He emphasized they must perform their duties with transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to law, stating: "Be suppressors of abuse of power, not wielders of power, to serve as a reliable foundation for the people and support the work of district officers and the Department of Local Administration with concrete results."

The Prime Minister stressed coordinated efforts across all agencies, particularly on drug prevention and suppression using the "card never falls" principle, disaster management enhancement, and ensuring citizens receive genuine, transparent, and fair state protection. He also highlighted the need to stay vigilant against emerging crimes such as human trafficking and online fraud scams, enabling citizens to recognize threats and protect themselves and their families.

Economic development initiatives were emphasized through the "Thai Helping Thai Plus" program to alleviate hardship, aiming to distribute state benefits equitably to all target populations. The PM requested village headmen and local administrators to disseminate information and facilitate public access to state benefits and measures.

Additionally, the Prime Minister asked village headmen to monitor local situations and coordinate continuously with district officers and provincial governors to ensure coordinated, efficient problem-solving. An integrated coordination meeting among all parties is scheduled within two weeks to strengthen collaboration between local administration and police.

Following the policy briefing, the Prime Minister shared lunch with village headmen and organizers at the Santhimaitri Building's central hall, then posed for photos with them at the Thai Koo Fah building.
