UDON THANI — A 24-year-old nurse has sought police assistance after a food delivery rider allegedly refused to leave after completing a delivery and later sent messages asking to go up to her room to see her cat, despite her not owning one.

Police from Muang Udon Thani Police Station were alerted by the 191 emergency centre at around 13:00 on 26 April 2026 and were dispatched to a dormitory in Muang district after the woman reported feeling unsafe.

At the scene, officers found the woman, a nurse at a state hospital in Udon Thani, in a distressed state. CCTV footage and chat messages between her and the rider were collected as evidence.

The rider, who had already left the scene, reportedly fled after learning that police had been contacted. Officers later attempted to contact him by phone, but he declined to meet police, saying he was not available.

According to the woman's account, she had ordered a 105-baht dry sukiyaki meal via a delivery application and instructed the rider to leave the food at the stairs of her dormitory.

She said the rider later asked for her Line account, followed by further messages requesting contact details. After she asked for his phone number instead, he sent it and continued messaging her.

The woman said the rider later texted that he was still outside the dorm and asked which room to deliver the food to, adding that he wanted to go up to see her cat. She said she does not own a cat.

Feeling uncomfortable, she told him that her boyfriend would come down to collect the food. The rider then allegedly sent a message expressing disappointment.

The woman said she later saw the rider still waiting on his motorcycle outside the dorm and ran back inside out of fear, before calling police for help.

She added that she did not dare consume the food and planned to file a formal complaint after finishing her shift, requesting police to summon the rider for questioning over his intentions.

Wilaipon Khuanyankitpheompun, a youth representative from the La River Basin Network, stated that for the people of the La Basin, 'water sources are like lifeblood, soil is the body, and forests are the breath' that has nurtured their lives, spirits, and cultural ways for generations.

However, the network is concerned that if capital investors proceed with the fluorite mining project in the area, it would severely impact the ecosystem, livelihoods, and culture of the La Basin communities. This concern has prompted the network to jointly declare their opposition to mining and reaffirm their stance: 'Communities Not Mines.'

The La River Basin Network was formed by indigenous communities from six villages in Santikhiri and Mae La Luang subdistricts, Mae La Noi District, Mae Hong Son Province, officially organizing in 2022. The communities have lived and worked in this area for generations, with agriculture as their primary occupation, maintaining traditions and cultural practices aligned with sustainable use of land, water, and forest resources since ancestral times.

The proposed fluorite mining project could severely impact community livelihoods, the environment, and pose risks of chemical contamination in water sources.

Sakdda Khuanyankitpheompun, headman of Huay Makawk community and representative of the La River Basin Network, stated on the fourth anniversary of resistance: 'Unity is our strength because the La River is a vital natural resource and environment that sustains life in the La Basin. The fluorite mining project would create numerous problems and impacts for us. The water source is most important, so we urge everyone to fight together so this ends with our generation, not theirs.'

The proposed mining area is located in the upper reaches of the La River, a critical water source for the local ecosystem and communities' survival. Mining operations could widely impact resources affecting at least ten communities in Santikhiri and Mae La Luang subdistricts, Mae La Noi District, Mae Hong Son Province, including impacts on water resources, the environment, and public health.

On April 26, 2025, Police Captain Ananda Worasat, commander of Bang Khae Police Station, ordered officers including Deputy Commander Kanin Khumkhun and other patrol officers to apprehend a 31-year-old man named Pang (surname withheld) along with drug paraphernalia including 0.62 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 190 methamphetamine tablets, a mobile phone, and a green shoulder bag.

The arrest occurred when patrol officers conducting a routine area check near Sukhumvit 5 Road in Bang Khae District, Bangkok, noticed Pang riding a motorcycle with suspicious behavior. Upon stopping and searching him, officers found methamphetamine tablets concealed in his right pants pocket and crystal methamphetamine hidden in a cartoon-patterned container inside his shoulder bag.

During questioning, Pang admitted that all the drugs came from a man named Bank (age approximately 30, height 165 cm) and that he was hired to deliver them to a building in the Wachirphol area for a fee of 200 baht. Pang stated he panicked when he spotted the police while riding his motorcycle. He has been transferred to Bang Khae Police Station for further legal proceedings.

A special operation by the Department of Administration, led by Ranrongkorn Thipsiri, director of the Administrative Personnel Law Enforcement Operations Center, successfully raided two illegal Hilo gambling dens in Bangkok's Nimit Mai and Bueng Kum police precincts. A Foreign Man's Rampage at a Phuket Hot Pot Restaurant Leads to Confrontation with Manager and Police Custody

On April 26, the incident went viral online when Facebook user Sirinthip Phoosuwan shared video footage from a hot pot restaurant in Patong Subdistrict, Kathu District, Phuket. The video shows a man believed to be Indian wearing a black shirt repeatedly entering and leaving the restaurant before assaulting and disturbing patrons inside.

A man in a white shirt, apparently the restaurant manager, stepped in to stop the disturbance and struck the Indian man, causing him to cry out loudly while customers and staff looked on in shock. The restaurant contacted Patong Police, who arrived to investigate and took the man into custody at his hotel to calm him down. The poster remarked: "Dignity cannot be compromised! I was eating spicy food—I would've felt terrible not pulling out my phone to record," alongside hashtags #PatongPhuket #Patong #Phuket.

According to the poster's account, the Indian man initially entered asking nearby diners "Open?" before repeatedly going in and out, raising suspicion. At one point, he attacked the man in the white shirt, presumably the manager, leading to the confrontation captured in the video.

The poster acknowledged not witnessing the entire incident clearly, as he was watching a movie and only caught portions of it. Some moments were recorded only in audio, particularly when police arrived and details of the incident were being recounted. Police are currently investigating the facts and proceeding with legal action.
