A resident of Mae Ka Subdistrict in Phayao Province has captured the attention of locals after discovering an unusually colored golden snakehead fish, which according to ancient Thai beliefs is a symbol of good fortune and prosperity. The fish, measuring approximately 10 centimeters long with shimmering golden scales throughout, has attracted several buyers, but the owner and his girlfriend have decided to keep it as a pet believing it will bring luck to their family.
In Mae Ka Subdistrict, Muang District, Phayao Province, residents are buzzing with excitement after local homeowner Voravuth Chansitong discovered an extraordinarily colored snakehead fish with a brilliant golden body throughout. According to ancient beliefs, golden snakehead fish are said to bring prosperity and continuous wealth, and are considered auspicious omens.
The fish has distinctive features including shimmering golden scales and fins across its entire body, with dark eyes that starkly contrast its coloring. The fish measures approximately 10 centimeters in length and 3 centimeters in width, which differs significantly from typical snakehead fish that usually have dusky coloring. Local residents believe this to be a fish of good fortune, rarely encountered in nature.
Voravuth explained that he caught this fish while fishing in a water source near the village. Initially, he thought it was an ordinary fish, but upon closer inspection, he noticed its unusually beautiful golden coloring. He brought it home to keep temporarily. He first thought it might be a ruby fish, but after searching online, he discovered it was a golden snakehead fish. According to ancient beliefs, golden snakehead fish symbolize good fortune, wealth, and abundance, making them extremely rare.
After his girlfriend took photos and posted them on her personal Facebook, many people contacted him hoping to purchase the fish. However, both he and his girlfriend have decided not to sell it. They plan to keep the fish, believing that the golden snakehead will bring good fortune and prosperity to them and their family.
