Abhisit confident Anucha and Bangkok councilors fit the bill, wants people with real local knowledge who can coordinate effectively and solve problems. Plans to unveil policies soon, believes Bangkok can achieve more than its current state.
On May 22, 2569, at the Democrat Party headquarters, party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva announced after introducing Anucha Burpachai as the party's Bangkok governor candidate that both Anucha and deputy party leader Sakoltee Phattiyakul, who oversees Bangkok areas, are working at full capacity. The nomination strategy involves not merely presenting a candidate but also bringing comprehensive policies and preparation for coordinated work with Bangkok councilors.
Moving forward, the party expects to present clearer policy proposals based on the belief that Bangkok residents should have choices and that the city can achieve more than it currently has. The timing for unveiling the Bangkok management team will depend on strategic considerations.
Abhisit addressed public opinion surveys showing Bangkok residents want councilors who understand local conditions, coordinate effectively, and can solve area-specific problems. He stated that the Democrat Party has experienced members currently serving as councilors, and the party's system extends beyond sitting or former councilors to include people working in various areas—whether through party branches or as parliamentary and councilor assistants. This coordination readiness confirms the party's preparedness not only in its governor and councilor candidates but throughout its entire organizational structure, a matter the party has consistently prioritized.
When asked about competitors, including a former Bangkok governor and former Democrat members running, Abhisit said it would give Bangkok residents more choices, in line with democratic principles.
