Phra Dej Reveals 2025 Budget Reallocation Bill Expected to Yield Only 200 Billion Baht Due to Committed Projects
Thailand's 2025 budget reallocation bill is expected to yield only 200 billion baht due to many projects having already committed funds, government spokesman Phra Dej announced May 26.
Government spokesman Phra Dej Parischanananthakul disclosed on May 26, 2025, at Government House that the draft budget reallocation bill for fiscal year 2025 is projected to generate approximately 200 billion baht due to some projects already having committed funds.
No project requests have been submitted yet. The government is awaiting the return of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanpraprach from overseas before proposals can be submitted to the project screening committee, chaired by Permanent Secretary of Finance Luvorn Saengsanit, and subsequently to the cabinet for consideration.
Regarding inquiries about submitting clarifications to the Constitutional Court concerning the emergency loan decree, Phra Dej stated that no formal discussion has taken place, only informal consultations. Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapan, heading the legal affairs division, will coordinate with four economic agencies on this matter.
When reporters asked about the specific amount expected from the fiscal year 2025 budget reallocation bill, Phra Dej indicated that details have not yet been finalized but estimated around 20 billion baht, down from earlier projections. Opposition parties have criticized the government, suggesting that stronger commitment to the reallocation bill could yield larger amounts and questioning why funds were not reallocated earlier. Phra Dej responded that reallocation depends on conditions and eligibility—projects with already-committed budgets cannot have their allocations transferred.
