Anutin Declares Pride in Being from Buriram, Denies Land Controversy Connection, Insists No Legal or Moral Violation
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul denies ownership of disputed land in Buriram province, saying documentation proves he is not the owner and maintaining his residency registration there violates no laws or ethics rules.
At 11:35 a.m. on May 21, 2025, at Government House, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the Khao Kradong land case in Buriram province, stating that everything is documented and can be verified to prove he is not the land owner. The Prime Minister explained the matter arose approximately 10 years ago when the 2560 Constitution required party-list MPs to have a residential address in their constituency. At that time, he was already the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and needed to prepare for political activities even during the National Council for Peace and Order period. "When I received the trust of Buriram residents who voted for Bhumjaithai to play a political role and govern the country, I spent considerable time living closely with the people of Buriram. Wherever I go, I say I am a person from Buriram, which is a source of pride," Anutin stated. He insisted that having his name in the local residential registry is his right and constitutes no violation of law, morality, or any code of conduct. When asked if he was concerned about this issue affecting his position as Prime Minister, Anutin responded, "Did this issue propel me here? It propelled me to this point, to the Government House."
