Thai badminton star Mae Ratchanok won the Malaysia Masters 2026 title, defeating China's Chen Yufei in the final, and embraced her new "Mae Malaysia Masters" nickname after posting a heartfelt thank-you message to her team and fans.
Mae Ratchanok Intanon, the world's 7th-ranked women's singles badminton player, posted a message after winning the Malaysia Masters 2026 championship and embraced her new nickname 'Mae Malaysia Masters' following her impressive victory on Malaysian ground.
The 31-year-old champion clinched the title after defeating world No. 4 Chen Yufei of China in straight sets in the final.
After the match, Mae posted a thank-you message to her fans and accepted the new nickname 'Mae Malaysia Masters,' having now won every time she has reached a final in Malaysia.
In her post, Mae wrote: "It's been a truly special week for me. Now I have a new nickname, 'Mae Malaysia Masters.'"
She continued: "First, I want to thank my team and sponsors who have always been by my side. Thank you to all my fans for believing in me throughout. I'm really happy I decided to participate in this tournament at the last minute, even though my schedule was quite packed. I could have chosen to rest, but I always have a feeling I'll perform well whenever I compete in Malaysia. So I decided to compete.
I admit I didn't expect to become champion, but I still believed in my own abilities and tried my best to manage my injuries. Deep down, I still carry some emotional scars and fear being injured again—everyone fears starting over. (I want to thank my knees.) Thank you for being with me every step of the way.
Specially, I want to thank all my opponents and everyone who tested me in each round. I'm happy I got to face you. Beyond just testing my skills, I also tested my mental strength. That's what sports should be about—more than just winning or losing. I hope I'll perform well in Malaysia many more times… Mantap!"
