National Human Rights Commission Condemns Perpetrators in Police Shooting That Killed Officer's Wife in Brutal, Inhumane Attack
A National Human Rights Commission statement condemned an armed attack on a Yala police officer's family on May 25, in which his wife was killed and their nursing infant injured in a vehicle shooting.
On May 26, 2025, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a statement condemning cruel acts committed against a woman and infant. According to reports, a shocking incident occurred when a group of armed suspects disguised as a woman wearing a hijab shot a police officer from Yala Police Station, critically injuring him. His wife was killed in a vehicle while holding her nursing infant, and the child was also injured on May 25.
The NHRC expressed profound condolences to the police officer's family and strongly condemned the brutal, inhumane actions of the perpetrators who used violence to take a mother away from her child. The commission stated this is unacceptable and violates legal principles and international conventions.
The NHRC reaffirmed that the right to safety of life and body is a fundamental human right that all people deserve. It called on all parties to end all forms of violence, work together to protect public safety—especially for children and women—and create secure communities.
The commission urge relevant authorities to urgently pursue and bring the perpetrators to justice according to law, strengthen measures to prevent future incidents, and provide compensation for both psychological and material damages to the affected family.
