CP Senior Chairman Urges Government to Overhaul Water Systems, Calls Agriculture 'Land Oil' with Limitless Value Creation

CP Group's senior chairman urges the government to overhaul water systems and irrigation infrastructure, arguing that agriculture—dubbed "land oil"—holds unlimited economic potential to boost farmer incomes and ensure food security.

3d ago Khaosod

Thanin Chearavanont, Senior Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, spoke following Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin's government-private sector meeting on developing Thailand's economic competitiveness at Government House on May 15, 2026. CP Group presented proposals at "The Listening Forum: Voices to the PM," highlighting Thailand's "enormous opportunities" amid global crises, particularly in agriculture and food—described as "land oil" with unlimited potential. The group urged the government to accelerate investment in irrigation infrastructure, water management systems, and modern agricultural development to increase farmer incomes, transform grassroots economy, and ensure long-term food security.

Thanin noted that Thailand possesses strong advantages in climate, sunlight, and farming potential, but the primary challenge for Thai agriculture is water access. If the government invests in irrigation, creates reservoirs, and distributes water nationwide—similar to how electricity and roads were developed—agricultural productivity and farmer incomes could increase dramatically. With adequate water, farmers could cultivate three crops annually, and improved management efficiency could boost yields by up to five times.

"Land oil is more important than underground oil because everyone needs to eat. Farmers are the benefactors feeding the nation, yet many remain poor. We must work together to solve this," Thanin said.

He also proposed an "agricultural industrial park" concept linking agriculture, industry, and commerce in integrated zones to connect production, processing, transport, and markets into one system, reducing logistics costs and creating high-value agricultural products through AI, technology, and food innovation.

Thanin emphasized that Thai industry has significant opportunities, but businesses must rapidly adopt modern production systems using AI, automation, and smart logistics to compete globally. This includes transforming Thai agricultural products into high-value goods such as processed foods, future foods, and research-intensive products.

"Future winners are those who adapt quickly, and logistics will be the competitive heart. With good AI management, existing businesses become more efficient and new opportunities emerge," Thanin concluded.

Plu Villa Pattaya Owner Presents Evidence to Counter Allegations, Threatens Counterlawsuit Against Customer Over Child Drowning Drama

Villa owner Arisa counters drowning incident allegations with CCTV evidence showing a parent was present, threatening legal action against the customer who posted criticism of the property's design on social media.

3d ago Khaosod

The owner of Plu Villa Pattaya is presenting evidence to counter allegations, threatening a counterlawsuit against customers over the child drowning incident at the property. The homeowner claims the house design is not at fault and has backing to pursue legal action. May 15, 2025 – After a Facebook user posted CCTV footage of a child drowning in the pool at a vacation villa in Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, the child was fortunately rescued by a parent who jumped in immediately. The incident occurred on May 11 in the afternoon. The Facebook poster had questioned the unusual villa design, particularly noting that the living room didn't overlook the pool area, arguing that standard designs provide constant pool visibility. The poster noted that during the child's drowning, visibility was blocked by a large duck, and suggested the child might not have survived without parental presence. Reporters visited Ventis Villa and met with 37-year-old owner Arisa, who showed them the disputed areas, revealing four large sliding glass doors just 3 meters from the pool. Arisa disclosed that a customer had texted asking for the CCTV footage, claiming their child had nearly drowned and wanting the video as a cautionary lesson, offering compensation. Upon hearing this, she reviewed the footage, found it to be true, and sent the file to the customer without further thought. However, when the clip was later posted online with criticisms of the villa's design and suggesting the child nearly died due to poor layout, the homeowner attempted to contact the original poster but reached a man claiming to be the poster's husband. During the conversation, he became defensive, made threats, and challenged her to pursue legal action. She is now consulting with lawyers to file charges against the poster. Arisa emphasized that the villa maintains high safety standards, even providing life jackets. Since the incident, she has lost multiple customer bookings. Most importantly, the CCTV footage confirms that a parent stood nearby throughout the child's drowning, which lasted less than 20 seconds before the father jumped in to rescue him. This contradicts the mother's online criticism of the villa's design. Prior to the incident, the child had always worn a life jacket while swimming, and the parents had even taken the child to swim in the nearby sea, where the mother removed the life jacket and the child went back into the water unsupervised until drowning. This situation has nothing to do with the pool villa. She emphasized this should not become a legal matter and would accept an apology from the other party to resolve everything.

Young Man Who Went Broke: From Millionaire to Bankrupt, Sent Millions to His Mother and Lost It All—8 Million Gone Without a Trace

A Thai migrant worker who saved millions in Japan over more than a decade discovered his mother had depleted the 7-8 million baht he sent home monthly, leaving him bankrupt, his relationship ended, and facing mounting debts upon his return.

4d ago Khaosod

On May 15, a young man posted his story in a 'Bankrupt Lives' online group, revealing how he sent 7-8 million baht monthly to his mother's account only to find it completely depleted upon his return to Thailand.

He explained that starting in 2010, he went to Japan as an undocumented migrant worker alongside his girlfriend. His uncle was already fishing there. Together they saved 7.8 million baht and he had his girlfriend transfer the money to his mother's account each month because he couldn't access his own account while abroad. His Japanese employer was kind and not exploitative.

About 1-2 years ago, his body began deteriorating from heavy labor—back pain and knee pain. He and his girlfriend discussed getting married since they were both approaching 35-36. They planned to combine their savings of over 15 million baht to invest and live off the interest.

For 3-4 years, he kept telling his mother he would return to marry, but she would dismiss him, cutting off conversations. He found this strange. When he finally returned to Thailand, his suspicions were confirmed—the money was gone. His girlfriend learned about it and asked to break up. He drove her home, apologized to her mother, and cried the entire way back.

Within 2-3 days, debt collectors came demanding payment. A creditor then called about the mortgaged house. He had no money to settle it. When he told his mother, she threatened to hang herself or jump in the water if he brought it up again. He moved in with his uncle.

A month later, his mother came to demand he work to pay off the debt, threatening the same fate if he refused. Despite everything, he holds no anger toward his girlfriend for leaving him. They had been together 16-17 years, planning their future together since their factory days.

Police Bust Illegal Wildlife Breeding Operation in Chiang Mai, Seize Over 60 Birds

Police raided two Chiang Mai locations and seized over 60 birds from a businessman operating an illegal wildlife breeding facility with an expired license. The majority of the protected parakeets and orioles lacked proper identification, in

4d ago Khaosod

On May 15, 2026, police led by Major Chirayuth Inkaew from Region 4's Investigation Section executed court-ordered searches at two locations in Chiang Mai. The first raid targeted a residence in Nong Khai Luang village, Nong Chom subdistrict, San Sai district, belonging to a 49-year-old businessman named Chati who operates a business in downtown Chiang Mai's Chang Phueak area. Officers discovered 40 banded parakeets, 2 rose-ringed parakeets, and 3 black-hooded orioles housed in cages at the property.

During inspection, officers found that 4 birds wore registered leg bands matching the breeding license records. However, the 40 banded parakeets had no identification marks, indicating they were likely wild birds illegally captured and caged. Another parakeet was identified as imported from India and therefore not protected under Thai wildlife law.

Investigators also found 2 adult rose-ringed parakeets without any identification bands. According to wildlife officials, this species is strictly protected and cannot be privately owned. Additionally, 3 adult black-hooded orioles without proper documentation were discovered, and records showed Chati had not declared possession of these birds. Wildlife authorities determined that Chati's breeding license had expired over a year ago.

Chati was charged with illegally possessing protected wildlife without authorization and operating an unlicensed breeding facility. A second raid at a Chiang Phueak area building in downtown Chiang Mai uncovered 11 additional banded parakeets, with only one wearing an identification band. The remaining birds lacked proper documentation. Officers located the suspect during this second operation.

Labor Minister Acknowledges Thai Workers Fleeing Korean Visas: 30 Out of 57 Workers Result in Year-Long Ban, Tracking and Blacklisting Orders Issued

Thailand's Labor Minister acknowledged that 30 of 57 workers sent to South Korea fled their jobs, triggering a suspension of placements from four provinces and year-long bans with blacklisting orders for the absconded workers.

4d ago Khaosod

On May 15, 2025, at the Ministry of Labor, Labor Minister Julphand Amornvivat held talks with South Korea's Ambassador to Thailand regarding the suspension of worker placements from four Thai provinces under the MOU system. The suspension came after discovering a significant number of Thai workers had fled their employment contracts.

The minister confirmed the Labor Ministry is urgently addressing the issue in both short and long-term solutions to restore South Korea's confidence. South Korea's embassy acknowledged that the suspension follows standard criteria applied to all countries sending workers to South Korea, not measures specific to Thailand.

"The MOU clearly stipulates that workers must not flee employment, with South Korea setting a threshold of no more than 20 percent. However, in Thailand's latest batch of 57 workers, 30 disappeared—approximately 59 percent—which is exceptionally high," the minister stated.

Before the full blacklisting measures take effect, Thailand negotiated for one final batch of workers, which South Korea approved. However, no further extensions will be granted. The ministry is now tracking the 30 absconded workers through family contacts and local authorities to encourage their return to the proper system.

"We have names, records, and families, and we are monitoring the situation. We cannot deny that some genuinely fled their employment," Julphand acknowledged.

Under Thai law, direct prosecution may not be possible since the violation occurred under South Korea's immigration laws. However, the Labor Ministry can restrict future overseas work rights. "Those who refuse cooperation may face limitations on foreign employment permits, especially for South Korea. E-8 visa defaulters will be banned entirely," the minister stated.

Regarding solutions to worker flight, the ministry plans stricter pre-departure screenings, behavior and background checks, and implementation of the "Smart TOEA" tracking system for Thai workers in South Korea. "Workers will report monthly through the system to confirm they are employed at the designated location and complying with regulations. This should alleviate South Korean concerns," Julphand explained.

When asked if he plans to travel personally for negotiations, Julphand confirmed he informed the South Korean ambassador of his readiness to discuss with South Korea's labor and justice ministers immediately once a schedule is arranged, as this matter is critical to bilateral relations.

Man Came for Muscle Pain, Doctor Rushed Him into Surgery for Heart Condition—No Warning Signs

A man seeking treatment for muscle pain discovered a severe heart condition requiring emergency surgery after blood work revealed elevated cardiac markers. The case highlights how heart disease can strike without warning signs, even in appa

4d ago Khaosod

On May 15, TikTok user @artlimitad posted a cautionary video about nearly losing his life after recently discovering he had a severe heart condition. In his post, he wrote: "I went to the doctor for muscle pain and he told me I needed heart surgery. I watched the doctor work on my heart. He said my heart rate was way too high—incredible. It took 2 hours. Men over 40, this is very dangerous. There were absolutely no warning signs. You might not be as lucky as I was. I finished the surgery yesterday. It's scarier than any disease—no warning signs at all."

The poster explained that he lived a normal life, confident he took good care of himself—exercising, doing push-ups, and not even taking medicine for headaches. The symptoms that day had happened before, so he thought it was the same old muscle issue. He often fell asleep at odd angles that left his arm numb, switching sides throughout the night. When he woke up that morning and sat up, he felt soreness. He tried to raise his hand and take deep breaths, but it didn't help. The pain was in his left arm, radiating to his shoulder, and his jaw felt tight like he'd been chewing hard. So he messaged Jemaine, who immediately told him to see a doctor within half an hour or sooner, warning it could be a heart problem. He rushed to the hospital alone.

When he arrived, he described his symptoms to the doctor and had blood work done, which came back normal—all values were fine, including his heart. He tried to move to a regular room, but the senior doctor insisted he wait another 3 hours for another blood test. When those results came back, they were very bad. They didn't know where his heart was blocked, so treatment began immediately.

He was fortunate to speak with a nurse who mentioned that many men aged 30-50 die from this condition at the hospital with no warning signs. The ultrasound showed nothing at first. The doctors almost sent him home if not for the elevated cardiac markers in his blood work. The doctor said surgery was necessary—it was very dangerous because they didn't know when his heart might fail.

During the procedure, which lasted 2 hours, he remained awake and watched as they injected dye to locate the blockage. The doctor said it was bad—the heart tissue had already died. Two arteries were blocked. He couldn't understand how this happened since he exercised and took care of himself. His heart was strong, but his breathing became shallow and his blood pressure started dropping. They successfully opened one artery but the other remained blocked. The doctor said it was difficult. When they saw his pressure dropping, they stopped. He spent another 2 nights in the ICU on blood thinner medication before returning for another successful procedure.

He was fortunate because his main coronary artery was large, allowing good blood supply. Not everyone is as lucky. His arteries were blocked at the ends on two lines—if it had blocked any higher, he might have died that day. This condition has no warning signs; you just fall asleep. Many men over 35 die from it.

The initial symptoms: pain radiating down the left arm and jaw tightness like chewing something hard.
