On May 13, 2025, immigration police officers Pol. Col. Winyoo Chaemjai, Pol. Lt. Surachat Kangwanwanit, and Pol. Lt. Col. Payinpawan Phanhanh jointly arrested Ms. Pansawan (surname withheld), 42 years old, at the passenger immigration checkpoint at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province, based on warrant no. 433/2568 issued by Phra Khanong Criminal Court on June 13, 2568, for theft using a vehicle to facilitate the crime or transport of property.

The case stems from 2568 when the suspect was in a relationship with Ms. A (pseudonym) and they lived together in a residence in the Pravet area. After they argued and broke up, the suspect moved out of the house and took various belongings with her by vehicle, which included items belonging to Ms. A. When Ms. A discovered the missing items, she filed a complaint with police at Udomsuk Station, leading to the arrest warrant.

Authorities learned that Ms. Pansawan had left Thailand in 2568 and settled in the United States. Recently, when intelligence indicated she was traveling from Hong Kong back into Thailand, immigration police were alerted to monitor and apprehend her at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

During questioning, the suspect denied intentional theft, admitting she took property from the residence but believed it was hers. She claimed she moved the items to her house before traveling to work and live in the United States, and insisted she had no prior knowledge of any summons or arrest warrant. She has been handed over to Udomsuk Station police for further legal proceedings.

Lamyai Haisongkham Opens Her Heart to New Love with 'Captain Chang,' Feeling Happy and Supported for the First Time

Country singer Lamyai Haisongkham has publicly confirmed her new relationship with Kritsada Wongkaew ('Captain Chang'), revealing that she feels happy and supported for the first time. In an interview at a product launch event, she described how their relationship developed naturally and expressed appreciation for his caring and supportive nature toward both her and her friends. She dismissed criticism about their compatibility, stating that what matters is how she feels in the relationship.

6d ago Khaosod

Country singer Lamyai Haisongkham has recently opened up about her relationship with Kritsada Wongkaew, known as 'Captain Chang,' after the couple drew public attention. At the PULZAR engine oil product launch at Park Hyatt Bangkok, Lamyai shared that this love has developed naturally and feels good because her partner cares for and supports both her and those around her.

'This love is wonderful. It's just beginning but it feels like a good starting point,' she said. 'We haven't known each other long, but it's been a gradual, natural process. I don't know what happened before, but right now everything feels okay. I feel respected and well taken care of. I have to say, I used to be the one paying for things, but now I'm the one being treated.'

When asked how long it took to open her heart, Lamyai explained that their relationship didn't start with a traditional courtship. 'He didn't come courting me in the usual way. We had things to talk about and just gradually got to know each other. Eventually, we went out to eat together, and it felt like we were just friends. Then one day he invited me to pay respects at a temple and asked a fortune teller if she would like him. That's when I realized he was actually courting me.'

She described what she loves about him: 'He's been caring from day one. I don't have to do anything or pay for meals. He's very supportive.'

Regarding his understanding of her busy schedule, Lamyai said, 'He understands completely because he's so supportive. He doesn't just support me; he supports my friends too. Since I have many friends, he goes with us and I feel comfortable. He adjusts his time to be with me whenever I'm available. He hasn't tried to change anything about me, and it feels good because I used to be the one always supporting others. Now that he's supporting me, it's a different feeling.'

When asked if the public attention pressures her, she replied, 'It doesn't bother me. I'm letting everything happen naturally. Love is something that brings happiness today, but we don't know about tomorrow. Right now, I'm happy.'

On negative comments saying they're not suited for each other, Lamyai responded, 'Whether we're compatible is for us to decide since we're the ones living together. Other people only see the outside. I don't know what compatibility really means, but I know I feel comfortable.'

Regarding comments that 'Captain Chang' is obsessed with her, she laughed, 'Maybe. When we're together, we laugh more than we feel shy. From the outside, he looks like the serious Captain Chang type, but when we're together, we're both very silly. I'm naturally playful and he's funny too. We make each other laugh constantly. I even tease him about whether he's really so reserved. Close friends who know him can see that this relationship is good because he takes care of us all.'

Manchester United executives prepare to propose Michael Carrick as new permanent manager

Manchester United's football executives are set to propose Michael Carrick as the club's new permanent manager at this week's board meeting, with strong backing from CEO Omar Berrada and Football Director Jason Wilcox. While co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has final approval authority, all signs indicate Carrick will be confirmed in the role. The 44-year-old has impressed players and staff alike and is expected to begin contract negotiations at Carrington training ground.

Manchester United's football executives are preparing to propose Michael Carrick as the club's new permanent manager at this week's board meeting. According to The Athletic, CEO Omar Berrada and Football Director Jason Wilcox believe Carrick is the ideal candidate to lead Manchester United into the next season and are ready to present this recommendation to co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

While Ratcliffe holds final decision-making authority on major matters and the proposal has not yet been formally approved, all indicators suggest Carrick will retain the position. The Glazer family, as majority shareholders, are content to allow Ratcliffe to take the lead on football-related decisions.

It is expected that this decision will pave the way for Manchester United to open contract negotiations with Carrick at Carrington. The 44-year-old head coach has participated in planning meetings and maintains strong backing among players and club staff for the permanent appointment.

United has considered other candidates, including Andoni Iraola from Bournemouth and Unai Emery from Aston Villa, but wanted to wait until the season's end for a final decision. However, with the club now qualified for UEFA Champions League football, this matter has been prioritized. The timing is crucial as well, as identifying the permanent manager is essential for the club to communicate clearly with potential new signings about who they will be playing under.

Too Harsh: Ban on Visiting Monks at Ordination Platform Criticized; Chumphon Acting Ecclesiastical Chief Orders Investigation, Says Times Have Changed

A heated dispute has erupted at a Chumphon temple after its abbot prohibited visiting monks from other temples from sitting on the ordination platform during funeral rites, citing temple rules. The acting ecclesiastical chief of Chumphon province has criticized the ban as "too harsh" and ordered an investigation, noting that modern times require flexibility and communication rather than rigid enforcement of such restrictions. The incident sparked significant online debate about the appropriateness of excluding monks from the same spiritual lineage during religious ceremonies.

6d ago Khaosod

The acting ecclesiastical chief of Chumphon province has criticized a temple abbot's ban on monks from other temples sitting on the ordination platform during funeral rites as "too harsh," and has ordered an investigation into the controversy that erupted online. The incident occurred at Tham Pru Ta Kian Temple in Tha Sae District, Chumphon, where the abbot refused to allow monks from Khao Chedi Temple to participate in the ceremony, citing "temple rules." This sparked widespread debate among Buddhists and Chumphon residents questioning the appropriateness of excluding monks from participating in funeral rites, especially since both groups are disciples of the late respected monk Luang Pho Prong Chotigo.

On May 13, 2025, reporters met with Phra Kru Bundit Thammatada, the acting ecclesiastical chief of Chumphon province, at Koh Kaew Dusitiyarangsrit Temple in Muang Chumphon District. He stated that while he had not yet received formal detailed reports, any temple implementing specific rules should notify the ecclesiastical administration so they can assess appropriateness. He emphasized that times have changed and flexibility and dialogue are necessary in many matters.

According to preliminary information, the incident may have occurred because the funeral sponsor invited monks from Khao Chedi Temple without consulting or informing the abbot of Tham Pru Ta Kian Temple beforehand, which may have caused the dispute. Currently, many temples lack sufficient resident monks, so inviting monks from other temples to participate in ceremonies is a common practice. The funeral sponsor and temple should have communicated and reached understanding beforehand to avoid problems during the merit-making ceremony.

"If there really is a rule banning visiting monks from participating in chanting, personally I think it needs to be reconsidered because it seems too harsh. However, we don't yet know all the facts and I don't want to make premature judgments," Phra Kru Bundit Thammatada said, adding that the ecclesiastical administration would contact the provincial religious supervisor, district ecclesiastical chief, and the abbot of Tham Pru Ta Kian Temple to gather facts before determining further action.

PPPC and Kasetsart University Hold Public Hearings on Deaf Community Needs to Develop TTRS System

Thailand's Performance and Audit Committee is conducting nationwide public hearings across seven regions to gather input from deaf communities and stakeholders on improving the Thai Telecommunication Relay Service (TTRS). In partnership with Kasetsart University, the initiative aims to develop TTRS into a stable, equitable communication infrastructure that enables efficient communication between deaf and hearing individuals. The consultation process runs from February to April 2025 and will produce policy recommendations based on feedback collected from over 200 deaf participants and more than 50 government agency representatives.

6d ago Khaosod

The Performance and Audit Committee (PPPC) on promotion of people's rights and freedoms is partnering with Kasetsart University to hold public forums across seven regions nationwide, collecting input from deaf individuals, hearing individuals, and relevant agencies. The initiative focuses on developing the Thai Telecommunication Relay Service (TTRS), which enables communication between deaf and hearing people, as part of a 2025 consultant engagement project monitoring people's rights and freedoms.

Isarasmet Kruea-hong, PPPC committee member, stated that communication system development must ensure all citizens have equal, fair, and universal access. For people with hearing and speech disabilities, promoting telecommunication access requires both appropriate service packages and development of efficient Relay Services using communication formats suited to users' limitations. Therefore, TTRS should be continuously improved and elevated to stable and sustainable communication infrastructure.

Researchers from Kasetsart University, representing faculties of social sciences, engineering, and economics, outlined two key activities: public hearings with deaf individuals to gather real-world experiences and service access challenges, and focus group discussions with relevant agencies and disability experts to exchange perspectives and propose systemic improvements.

The seven-region hearing tour (February-April 2025) includes: Bangkok with 50+ agency representatives at Rama Gardens Hotel and 200+ deaf participants at Best Western Nada Don Muang; Northern Region in Chiang Mai with deaf hearings at Anusorn School for the Deaf and focus groups at Mercure Hotel; Eastern Region in Chon Buri with deaf forums at Chon Buri School for the Deaf and focus groups at Bang Saen Heritage Hotel; Central Region in Nakhon Pathom with deaf hearings at Nakhon Pathom School for the Deaf and focus groups at Mida Grand Twarawadi; Western Region in Kanchanaburi with deaf forums at Kanchanaburi School for the Deaf and focus groups at Prelude Hotel; Northeastern Region in Khon Kaen with deaf hearings at Khon Kaen School for the Deaf and focus groups at Charoenthanee Hotel; and Southern Region in Songkhla with deaf forums at Songkhla School for the Deaf and focus groups at Buriisriphoo Hotel in Hat Yai. Data and feedback from all seven regions will be analyzed to develop policy recommendations.

RIZIN CEO Denies Plans to Sign Rodtang, Cites Legal Risk Concerns

RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara has ruled out signing Thai boxer Rodtang Jitmuangnon, citing contractual complications and legal risks. Sakakibara stated that while he's aware of Rodtang's disputes with ONE Championship, he believes the fighter should remain with ONE and that any potential RIZIN involvement would only be under MMA rules. The CEO emphasized his organization's preference to avoid athletes with ongoing legal and contractual disputes.

6d ago Khaosod

Japanese news outlet sanyonews.jp published an interview with Nobuyuki Sakakibara, CEO of Japan's leading mixed martial arts organization RIZIN, addressing questions about potentially signing renowned Thai boxer Rodtang Jitmuangnon. Rodtang became caught in contractual drama with ONE Championship before his fight against Japanese boxer Takeru Segawa, which he lost by knockout. Recent reports have circulated about the possibility of Rodtang being barred from competing in other organizations, particularly in MMA. Following RIZIN.53, Sakakibara addressed the issue in an interview. When asked by reporters after 37-year-old fighter Koji expressed interest in fighting a Thai boxer, Sakakibara responded: "I'm aware of the contract issues between Rodtang and ONE, and I see he's moved to Buakaw's camp. Personally, I have no interest in arranging a kickboxing match for Rodtang at RIZIN—if it were to happen, it would have to be MMA only. However, I believe Rodtang should stay with ONE. Many problems have occurred, but he's a symbol of ONE, and I'd like to see ONE make a full effort to resolve the contract dispute with him. Additionally, there's risk involved in signing an athlete with contractual issues, and we don't want to get entangled with athletes who might face legal disputes."

Eugene Aiphon Faces Backlash After Being Caught on Phone Call While Ignoring Senior Actress Muddam—Apologizes with Flowers

Eugene Aiphon, a new actor under CHANGE2561, recently became the target of online criticism after he was caught taking a phone call and not paying attention when senior actress Muddam Kachapa greeted a group of junior actors. Some netizens commented critically, saying "In front of the media, no matter how urgent, one shouldn't be on the phone. It's disrespectful and shows a lack of manners. You should step away to finish your call before entering the entertainment industry—you need to be more respectful to seniors."

On May 13, CHANGE2561 held an auspicious merit-making ceremony at their office building to launch two new series under their CHANGE2561 ORIGINAL project: the BL romance "Chasing Love, It's Tough Being the Older One" and the fast-paced youth series "Class Crush Crisis." After the ceremony, Eugene Aiphon gave an exclusive interview about the incident.

Was there an issue on social media beforehand? "I felt relieved and really happy to have the chance to meet Senior Muddam. At first, I didn't even think she would reply to my DM. I felt terrible for not talking to her at that moment. She replied and asked when I was free to meet, so I made an appointment. I went and bought her flowers and gave them to her. I never expected it would end up on a variety show."

Let's rewind to that moment? "We were about to go home. I was talking to my mom. When I saw Senior Muddam, I was focused on my mom so I didn't hear her. That's how it became a social media issue."

How did you feel when it became a thing? "I set my alarm for 8 a.m., but at 7 a.m. my mom woke me up and said it was already trending on social media. I was confused about what I'd done. When I saw the clip, oh... I was on a phone call with my mom. It became drama on social media. I was shocked. That whole day was nerve-wracking."

Did you seem stressed? "Yes, I consulted with my senior AR at the company. I thought the matter wouldn't reach higher-ups, so I talked to AR first."

When did you decide to bring flowers to Muddam? "I was very happy. Senior Muddam was surprised. She didn't expect me to come. She said that in her life, no man has ever come to sweet-talk and plead with her like that."

Your fan base grew because people saw how cute we are together? "Somewhat. Ultimately, I'm glad I got to learn and gain experience faster than most people. When other people face issues later, they can't fix them in time. So I see this as something positive, an experience that happened to me early."

What lessons did this teach you? "This taught me that I need to be aware of my surroundings at all times and stay mindful. Talking to parents is important, but if there's a senior or elder in front of you, you should talk to them first. I don't know when I'll get to see them again."

National Sports Development Fund Elevates Thai Sports Fund Management to International Standards

The National Sports Development Fund is implementing a second Self-Assessment training workshop to upgrade Thai sports fund management to international standards, aiming to establish a strategic investment mechanism. The initiative targets generating economic impact exceeding 4 billion baht and aims to boost Thailand's sports economy to 218 billion baht by 2027, while supporting athlete development and global competitiveness across Olympic Games, Asian Games, and other major sporting events.

6d ago Khaosod

The National Sports Development Fund is accelerating the upgrade of Thai sports fund management systems to international standards, advancing reforms toward a 'strategic sports investment mechanism' through a second Self-Assessment workshop. Held in Surat Thani province for fund applicants, the initiative aims to create a 'strategic investment mechanism' for developing fund management systems that are efficient, transparent, and auditable while addressing long-term Thai sports development strategy.

The fund also seeks to establish systematic project monitoring and evaluation standards, maximize budget effectiveness for Thai sports, and drive sports economics, professional sports, and the sports industry as a new economic driver for the country. Surasak Keotjuntuk, Deputy Director of Sports Development at the Sports Authority of Thailand, stated that the fund is transitioning from a 'budget supporter' to a 'strategic sports investment mechanism' for the nation, comprehensively elevating Thai sports capabilities across competitive, economic, social, and human resource development dimensions.

"The second consecutive training workshop reflects our commitment to creating an efficient, transparent fund management system with measurable results," he said. "The fund has an important mission in strategic management to systematically enhance Thai sports performance, promote sports economics, develop sports personnel, create fair funding access, and reform digital database systems for effective decision-making."

The event also included a review of the National Sports Development Fund's strategic plans and operational plans for fiscal years 2027-2030 to coordinate efforts across all sectors of the Thai sports system. The fund has established nine key strategies covering elite sports development, professional sports, the sports industry, Muay Thai as a global brand, athlete and personnel development, and modernizing fund management systems.

The fund aims to develop Thai sports in alignment with government policy within four years to create economic value and enhance the nation's international image through popular sporting events and elevate Thai athletes' achievements in the Olympic Games, Asian Games, and SEA Games. It targets medal wins at the LA 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and plans to promote Muay Thai's international ecosystem while providing fair and equitable fund access to sports associations under the Sports Authority of Thailand's oversight per the Thai Sports Act.

The fund expects to drive Thailand's sports industry economic value (Sport GDP) to approximately 218 billion baht by 2027. A special lecture by Suphannath Samneang, a project evaluation expert, addressed 'Self-Assessment: Progress Reporting and Project Self-Evaluation' for fund applicants.
