Prime Minister Summons Police Chief to Crack Down on Foreigners Engaged in Illegal Activities at Phuket and Surat Thani Beaches, Vowing Complete Elimination of the Problem.
At 11:30 AM on May 14, 2025, Prime Minister Anuthine Charnveerakul and Interior Minister summoned Police Chief General Kittirat Panthapetch and Deputy Police Chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop Puridej to Government House for approximately 2.5 hours of discussions. Following the meeting, the Police Chief declined media interviews and departed from the rear entrance. Deputy Police Chief Jiraphop revealed that the PM instructed authorities to crack down on foreigners engaged in illegal activities at Freedom Beach in Phuket and Koh Phangan in Surat Thani. The PM directed police to enforce laws strictly against misconduct in these areas, with operations led by Police Chief Kittirat and Deputy Police Chief Samran Nualma, supported by the National Police Office team. The PM emphasized the need to completely eliminate the problem. When asked about visa measure discussions, Jiraphop confirmed such talks occurred as part of broader policy solutions currently being implemented by the PM. Regarding police proposals, Jiraphop stated these were detailed discussions between the Police Chief and Deputy Police Chief.
