A frightening incident unfolded at Six Flags New England amusement park in Massachusetts, USA, when passengers were forced to evacuate a malfunctioning roller coaster by walking down from its highest point. The popular Superman: The Ride attraction stopped operating while ascending to its peak, leaving riders stranded at a significant height. Video footage captured by visitors and shared online showed numerous passengers carefully descending narrow stairs alongside the roller coaster track while staff in orange safety vests provided close supervision and guidance throughout the evacuation.
The amusement park issued a statement confirming that trained staff safely assisted all passengers and continuously monitored the situation. "Our team remained in contact with passengers at all times and has invited everyone to return to the park," the statement said. According to Six Flags' website, the roller coaster reaches heights of approximately 64 meters, reaches speeds of 124 kilometers per hour, spans 1.6 kilometers, and normally completes a cycle in about 90 seconds.
A TikTok user (@jordyyn.m) who claimed to be present during the incident revealed that passengers were left on the ride for nearly an hour. "The chain got stuck and the wind up top was really strong," the user stated, noting that all passengers received full refunds and two complimentary park admission tickets. However, the amusement park has not disclosed the exact cause of the malfunction or confirmed when the attraction will resume normal operations.
