Stolen Pickup Truck Hits Alms Procession, 8 Monks Dead

Video posted by the Mukdahan Rescue Association's Facebook page captured the moment a pickup truck suddenly struck the monks who were walking peacefully along a roadside near Ban Na Si Noi. In the footage, the procession of 34 monks was proceeding normally when the vehicle hit them without warning, resulting in multiple deaths and severe injuries scattered across the road.
The crash occurred on a road near the Huay Sing entrance in Ban Na Si Noi, Mueang district, Mukdahan. Five monks were pronounced dead at the scene, while three more succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, bringing the death toll to eight. An additional thirteen people sustained serious injuries and were transported to medical facilities. Police have detained the 11-year-old driver, identified as a child with special needs who allegedly stole his parents' Isuzu pickup and drove it in the wrong direction from Don Tan district toward Mueang district before the deadly collision occurred.
The monks were en route from Mukdahan city to Ubon Ratchathani province when the incident happened. The Mukdahan provincial governor is currently investigating the scene and visiting injured victims at hospitals, with further updates expected.
