Region 1 Internal Security Command Partners with Private Sector to Purchase Agricultural Products and Support Prices as Costs Surge

Thailand's Region 1 Internal Security Command has partnered with Singto Thong Trading Company to purchase agricultural products from farmers, helping stabilize prices amid soaring production costs caused by rising energy prices. The purchased goods will be supplied to military units in Region 1 for internal consumption, simultaneously supporting struggling farmers and boosting troop morale.

29 Apr Khaosod

On April 29, 2026, the Region 1 Internal Security Command (ISOC Region 1), in collaboration with Bangkok ISOC and Singto Thong Trading Company Limited, launched a support program to purchase agricultural products directly from farmers to mitigate the impacts of rising energy prices, which have significantly increased production costs and affected product distribution.

The program is designed to relieve the financial burden on farmers while providing a sales channel during the market slowdown. All purchased agricultural products will be delivered to Region 1 military forces for consumption within their units.

Beyond supporting farmers, this product distribution initiative also serves to boost morale and strengthen the commitment of military personnel in their ongoing duties.

Japanese striking legend Takeru Segawa knocked out Thai fighter Rodtang Jitmuangnon in the fifth round to win the ONE Championship interim flyweight kickboxing world title at ONE Samurai 1, held at Ariake Arena in Tokyo on April 29, before retiring from professional fighting.

Following the match, the 34-year-old Takeru shared his emotions: "Today marks the final day of my fighting career, but to be honest, I don't want to stop because of my passion for the art of combat. All I can say is that I'm very excited." He continued, "At 34 years old, I never imagined I could still be this motivated. I thought my body might give out, but with support from so many people, I've been able to continue fighting until now. Ultimately, boss Chatri arranged this championship match for me, which completely transformed my motivation for this final fight. So I want to thank my team, Wann, Chatri, and everyone involved."

Regarding his final fight with Rodtang, Takeru expressed gratitude: "Actually, even after I knocked out Rodtang before, he still accepted this rematch. Thank you so much. Without Rodtang, we wouldn't have had such an amazing farewell match." He explained his strategy: "I intended to fight cautiously, but whenever I visualized the bout beforehand, I couldn't help but imagine an explosive fight, no matter how hard I tried. Before the match, I focused on carefully wearing down my opponent, thinking back to my strongest fighting style. Because it was against Rodtang, I wanted to give everything, but I remembered to carefully exhaust him first before attacking. I pushed myself fully to do that. Ultimately, I wanted to dedicate this victory to everyone and give this belt to everyone."

Four Engineering Students Play Prank with DIY Gas Cylinder Device, Fire from Sunroof While Driving Down Street, Terrifying Residents

Four engineering students were investigated after firing a homemade gas-pressurized launcher from a car's sunroof in Nonthaburi, frightening a motorcycle rider who thought she was under attack. Police resolved the matter after the students

29 Apr Khaosod

Four engineering students caused a commotion by constructing a homemade gas-pressurized launcher, opening a car's sunroof, and firing it playfully down the street, terrifying residents and causing a woman to fear she was under attack. A 30-year-old woman named Por filed a report with Muang Nonthaburi police stating that on April 26 at 4:00 AM, while riding her motorcycle from Soi Liang Muang Nonthaburi 5 onto the bypass road, a white Ford Everest followed her and she heard a gunshot-like sound once, then again at a turning point, making her fear for her safety.

On April 29 at 3:30 PM, Muang Nonthaburi police investigation officers summoned three 17-year-old male engineering students from the industrial engineering department at a university near Rama VII, along with a homemade bird-scaring launcher and a spray bottle containing 100 percent alcohol. One of the four students was unable to attend due to illness, though a parent was present to hear the questioning. After investigating the scene, police determined all three were responsible.

The students explained they had been at an older brother's house in Bang Sri Muang that day. On the way back, in a playful mood, they used the homemade bird launcher they had made for bird control at the residence, pressurized it with gas, opened the sunroof, and fired it repeatedly along the route. They admitted they had created the device based on a social media tutorial intending only to scare birds at home, not to threaten anyone, and acknowledged their recklessness and foolishness.

Officers then brought the victim to speak with the students. After mutual understanding was reached, the students apologized to the victim and promised not to repeat the behavior. Police filed a record of the incident before releasing them.

Shocking: Novice Monks Attack 9-Year-Old Boy with Cigarette, Mother Files Complaint

Four novice monks were defrocked after a video showed them attacking a 9-year-old boy with cigarettes at a temple in Surin Province's Chom Phra District on April 26, prompting a police investigation and assault charges against the juvenile

29 Apr Khaosod

A viral video captured on April 29 shows a group of novice monks assaulting a 9-year-old boy with cigarettes and intimidating language in an incident that occurred on April 26, sparking widespread public outcry. The novices were conducting a summer ordination at a temple in Chom Phra District, Surin Province. The temple's acting abbot, Phra Ajarn Kraphan Kantviro, revealed that the child's parents brought the video to the temple for investigation. The temple has already defrocked four novices involved in the incident as a monastic punishment, while civil legal proceedings will follow according to law.

The assaulted child had previously been ordained as a novice and later left the temple. The incident occurred outside the temple grounds near rice paddies where the boy had gone to fish, though the area remains under temple responsibility. The temple is coordinating with monks' council members to provide support and psychological counseling to the victim, who has since been discharged from the hospital. The boy's mother expressed concern about his mental state and confirmed that she has reported the incident to police.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Somyot Phumchaiiphum, chief of Chom Phra Station, stated that Provincial Police Commander Sukhon Sriarn ordered an urgent investigation. Four youths aged 11, 12, 13, and 16 were involved—three as perpetrators and one as a videographer. Officers have interviewed the victim's mother and filed an assault complaint. The juvenile suspects will undergo inquiry by a multi-disciplinary team including prosecutors and social workers in accordance with juvenile justice procedures. Initial charges include assault, pending medical examination results that will serve as additional evidence.

The storms are caused by a high-pressure system and cold air mass from China moving over the northeastern region and the South China Sea, while upper Thailand experiences hot to very hot conditions. Residents are advised to avoid open areas, large trees, weak structures, and unstable billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees, prepare for crop and livestock damage prevention, and monitor their health during this period of changing weather conditions.

Chatri Tells Rodtang: If We Become Too Comfortable, It Leads to Failure

Rodtang Jitmuangnon lost his flyweight kickboxing title to Japan's Takeru Segawa at ONE Samurai 1, prompting ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong to warn that comfort and complacency lead to failure for elite fighters.

29 Apr Khaosod

After Thai striking star Rodtang Jitmuangnon was knocked out by Japanese boxer Takeru Segawa at ONE Samurai 1 in a flyweight kickboxing title bout at Ariake Arena in Japan, ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong was interviewed by renowned ONE Combat Sports media correspondent Nick Atkin and shared his reflections.

Chatri praised British striking champion Jonathan Haggerty's disciplined approach, saying: "I really admire Jonathan. He continues to train hard, remains humble, and maintains discipline to keep his world champion status. He's surrounded by good coaches, good team members, and good teammates. But when we have more money, more fame, and let it dominate us, we stop training, lose our good team, we've seen the example tonight. Being the best fighter in the world in a major fighting organization isn't easy to maintain."

Chatri later commented during Takeru's post-fight press conference regarding Rodtang: "I'm disappointed about Rodtang's loss. Of course he must be devastated. He's a world champion level fighter, but if he comes back dedicated again, trains, learns, grows, and hungers again, he'll be the best in the world. Like all of us, if we become too comfortable, it leads to failure."

Chainat Residents Slam New Electricity Rate Structure as Unjust, Question Why Bills Surge Thousands of Baht Despite Unchanged Income

Chainat residents and small business owners are protesting a new tiered electricity rate structure set to begin in June, claiming it's unjust as their bills surge by thousands of baht while incomes remain stagnant. A decorative fish shop owner reported his monthly electricity bill jumping from 2,000 to 3,500 baht this month alone, with concerns about further increases under the new tiered pricing system that charges over 5 baht per unit for consumption exceeding 401 units.

29 Apr Khaosod

Chainat residents are criticizing the new electricity rate structure as unjust, questioning why their bills are surging by thousands of baht when their income hasn't changed. After the Energy Regulatory Commission approved a new electricity rate structure to begin in June, the first 200 units were set at no more than 3 baht per unit, while usage exceeding 401 units could cost over 5 baht per unit under a tiered system.

Reporters recently visited a decorative fish shop owner in Muang District, Chainat Province, which operates 24 hours daily to run oxygen pumps and lighting. Nattanon Ratphon, 37, the shop owner, revealed that this measure severely impacts business operators. Current sales are already poor, yet electricity costs are climbing in contradiction to the economic situation. This month alone, his bill jumped from 2,000 to 3,500 baht, and any further increases under the new structure would be unbearable. He questioned why bills keep rising by thousands of baht when income remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, 50-year-old vendor Jarinya Eamlaao shared that the scorching heat combined with caring for her bedridden father forces her to run air conditioning around the clock. With goods, fuel, and other expenses already expensive, people are forced to maintain the same income while costs rise everywhere. If the new rate structure pushes electricity bills even higher, she fears life will become increasingly difficult.

Nong Phaphaeng Shop Insists on 1-7 Day Delivery After Pimry Pie's Live Durian Sale at 100 Baht Each Amid 30-Day Pre-Order Controversy

Nong Phaphaeng shop pledges 1-7 day delivery for durians sold at 100 baht each during Pimry Pie's viral livestream, responding to criticism over the ambitious one-million-unit sale and original 30-day timeline.

29 Apr Khaosod

Nong Phaphaeng shop has issued a statement promising 1-7 day delivery following the viral live-streaming durian sale hosted by influencer Pimry Pie and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthammaphand, where premium durians normally priced at 600-700 baht each were offered at just 100 baht per fruit, with plans to sell one million units. The livestream event on April 28, 2569 (2026) attracted over 800,000 viewers across all platforms and sparked significant online controversy. Critics questioned whether the small-sized fruits—colloquially called "pop-pop durians"—were actually premium quality, whether one million units would genuinely be sold, and whether the 30-day delivery window (May 30 - June 1) was feasible. In response, Nong Phaphaeng released video footage showing a large warehouse filled with numerous boxes of durians ready for shipment, guaranteeing all orders would be delivered within 1-7 days, with the exception of orders placed just before the livestream ended, which might take longer. The shop confirmed they will handle all claims and complaints except for unripe fruit, offering refunds without requiring product returns, and stressed they are acting as a middleman seller purchasing directly from orchards and ready-to-ship inventory.

Defense Ministry Denies Fake News Claims of Shooting at Or Samet Checkpoint

Thailand's Defense Ministry denied Cambodian claims that Thai soldiers fired weapons at the Or Samet border checkpoint, stating only three warning shots were discharged after Cambodian troops approached Thai barbed wire in a provocative man

29 Apr Khaosod

On April 29, 2025, Defense Ministry spokesman Pol. Maj. Gen. Surasant Kongsiri addressed the situation at the Thai-Cambodian border following Cambodia's Defense Ministry claim that Thai soldiers had fired weapons at the Or Samet checkpoint five times, allegedly using rifles, M79 grenade launchers, and M16s between 10:35 and 11:09 AM.

The spokesman firmly denied these allegations, stating that no weapons were discharged as claimed. He confirmed that the overall situation remains under control by security agencies.

After coordinating with the Army and Suranari Task Force units in the area, authorities confirmed that no weapons were used as alleged. Only three warning shots were fired in response to Cambodian soldiers approaching Thailand's barbed wire fence in a provocative manner. Units on the ground continue to operate within legal frameworks and strict situation control protocols.

Thai security agencies are closely monitoring the situation to prevent misunderstandings and maintain stability along the border. The Defense Ministry appealed to the public and media to rely on official sources and exercise critical judgment when receiving and sharing information, noting that modern security threats extend beyond physical confrontation to information warfare that could harm national security.

The Defense Ministry committed to communicating information with "speed, accuracy, and transparency" to build public confidence and protect national interests.
