The Pollution Control Department inspected the Chaloemratchamontri Highway project operated by the Expressway Authority of Thailand on May 11, 2026, to enhance environmental management through the EIA Monitoring Awards 2026 program. PCD Secretary-General Bannarak Saemthong and his team assessed the project's compliance with environmental impact assessment measures, following directives from Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchati Chomklin and Permanent Secretary Dr. Raviwan Phuridej to strengthen environmental oversight. The inspection aims to incentivize compliance with EIA requirements and encourage operators to develop robust environmental management systems that serve as models for other enterprises.
For the 2026 fiscal year, the PCD set target categories for applicants including state agency projects, mining operations, petroleum development, and energy sector facilities. Of 90 projects meeting initial qualification criteria, inspections began in January 2026 with completion expected by May 2026. Selected facilities will receive awards in three tiers—Excellence, Outstanding, and Commendable—to be presented between August and September 2026, with the Natural Resources and Environment Minister presiding over the ceremony.
