Meteorological Department Issues Third Weather Alert: 20 Provinces at High Risk of Heavy Downpours Tomorrow
Thailand's Meteorological Department has issued a third-stage weather alert warning of severe conditions across 20 provinces from May 7-10, including heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and strong winds. The primary concerns are potential flash floods, landslides, and dangerous weather conditions affecting northern, northeastern, eastern, central Thailand, and Bangkok. Residents and farmers are advised to take protective measures and monitor official weather updates continuously.
At 5:00 p.m. on May 6, 2569, the Meteorological Department announced an unsettled weather alert for Thailand with impacts from May 7-10, 2569 (Announcement No. 52/2569). During May 7-10, the northern, northeastern, eastern, and central regions, along with Bangkok and its vicinity, will experience increased thunderstorms with strong winds and heavy rain in some areas. Afterward, temperatures will drop as high-pressure systems and cold air masses from China move to cover the northeast and South China Sea. Southerly and southeasterly winds will carry moisture from the Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea into northern Thailand. Strengthening easterly winds over the southern region and Gulf of Thailand will bring heavy rainfall to the south. The public is advised to stay alert to dangers from thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain that could cause flash floods and landslides. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare protective measures for crops, while maintaining health during weather fluctuations. For updates, the public can contact the Meteorological Department via www.tmd.go.th, telephone 0-2399-4012-13, or hotline 1182 available 24 hours.
