Yamaha Thailand rider "Idea" dominated the Asia Production 250cc class at the ARRC Buriram round, while teammate "Tee" secured a double podium finish in SuperSport 600cc to keep his championship hopes alive.
The Asian Road Racing Championship 2026 Round 2 finals took place on Sunday, May 10, drawing intense attention from Thai motorsports enthusiasts.
The SuperSport 600cc (SS600) class continued to be the highlight of every round, with this race featuring 12 laps of competition as usual. Experienced Thai rider "Tee" Anupap Samuul from Yamaha Thailand Racing Team, piloting YZF-R6 number 500, started from grid position 2 with a solid start.
The race unfolded similarly to Saturday's first race, with "Tee" launching an aggressive attack in the final three laps to take the lead before playing it safe in the final corner to preserve maximum championship points. He crossed the finish line in second place with a total time of 20 minutes and 2.226 seconds, just 0.130 seconds behind the winner. This was enough to secure both podium finishes, keeping his championship hopes bright with 60 points and narrowing the gap to the championship leader to just 12 points after four races into the season.
In the Asia Production 250cc class, which ran 10 laps, rising Thai star "Idea" Kritpat Khuankham, number 39 from Yamaha Thailand Racing Team, showed dominant form. Despite engine restrictions, he led wire-to-wire on his YZF-R3 to secure victory with a total time of 18 minutes and 41.804 seconds.
Meanwhile, "Gus" Theeranaiy Thabtim, a rising talent and teammate number 36, started from grid position 12 and charged hard, contending for a podium finish until the final corner in a photo finish situation before crossing in fifth place, 6.732 seconds behind the winner.
After four races across the first two rounds of the Asia Production 250cc class, "Idea-Kritpat" maintains championship contention with three victories and 86 points, while "Gus-Theeranaiy" sits eighth with 27 points.
The next round of the Asian Road Racing Championship 2026 will take place June 12-14 at the Mobility Resort Motegi circuit in Japan.
