The platform for young food enthusiasts returns with "Gourmet & Cuisine Young Chef 2026," a university-level cooking competition organized by Gourmet & Cuisine magazine in partnership with Impact Culinova to discover the next generation of talented young chefs ready to launch careers in the food industry. Applications from students nationwide are now open through June 30, 2026.
This year's competition features the theme "Festive Finger Foods," inviting competitors to create bite-sized appetizers in Asian, Western, or fusion styles. Through the concept of "small bites, big ideas," participants will convey the festive atmosphere and vibrant colors of celebrations through distinctive flavors and presentations.
Ms. Parita Viriyarangsrit, managing editor of Gourmet & Cuisine magazine, stated that Thailand's food industry continues to grow across all sectors, creating increasing demand for skilled and creative chefs. Providing young talent with platforms to demonstrate their abilities, hone their skills, and gain real-world experience is key to elevating Thai cuisine to international standards.
The competition consists of three rounds: a video screening round to select 10 teams, a masterclass round where finalists learn advanced techniques from renowned chefs, and a grand finale where competitors must create signature dishes from predetermined ingredients. The finals take place at Impact Culinova on September 19, 2026.
Ten prizes totaling over 300,000 baht will be awarded, including first, second, and third place prizes, plus two honorable mentions and five consolation prizes, along with trophies and certificates.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students (years 1-4) aged 18-25, or those studying at culinary institutions (excluding short courses). Applicants compete in teams of two from the same institution, with no limit on teams per school.
