Experienced Coach Withdraws from Pro License Course Over Inability to Pay 500,000 Baht Lump Sum

Renowned coach Samchai Chuaybuunchum has withdrawn from the AFC Pro License coaching program after the Thai Football Association refused to accept installment payments for the 500,000 baht fee. The 72-year-old coach cited the financial risk of paying the full amount upfront for a one-year course with no guarantee of completion. His withdrawal highlights a dispute over payment terms that has also affected other selected coaches.

8 May Khaosod

Samchai Chuaybuunchum, head coach of Lamduanpleung Sisaket United, has withdrawn from the AFC Pro License coaching course after the Thai Football Association set a non-negotiable lump sum fee of 500,000 baht. The Football Association of Thailand announced 18 coaches selected for the fourth AFC Pro License course, but both Chuaybuunchum and Janthaphen Srisoem, a former Thai national women's footballer, were excluded due to late payment. Although Lamduanpleung Sisaket United offered to pay the fee upfront, Chuaybuunchum decided against participating because the association insisted on a single payment of 500,000 baht despite his attempts to negotiate installments. He explained that the one-year training program carries significant risk—if he cannot complete the course for any reason, the entire fee would be forfeited. At 72 years old, he argued, the financial risk is substantial and unpredictable. He therefore advocated for installment payments or at least splitting the cost in half. With extensive experience coaching Thai League teams and having previously led Thailand's U-19 national team to the Asian Championship in 2011 before reaching the continental final, Chuaybuunchum believes that Thailand's football league should provide opportunities for A-licensed coaches to gain experience, noting that such qualified coaches are plentiful in the country.

Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool Ends But the Drama Continues—'Nicky' Files Police Report Against Keyboard Warriors Who Insulted His Parents, Suspect Identified

TV personality Nicky filed a police report against an online commenter who insulted his parents during a Manchester United–Liverpool broadcast, after the suspect crossed the line from criticizing his commentary to attacking his family.

8 May Khaosod

On May 8, 2025, prominent television personality Natchart Jantapun (Nicky) filed a police report at the Technology Crime Investigation Bureau in Thonburi, accompanied by his lawyer Colonel Dr. Thanakrit Chitrareeriyaratana. The complaint targets an individual who posted defamatory messages during the Manchester United versus Liverpool match broadcast, when Nicky was attending the game at Old Trafford supporting Manchester United, which won 3-2.

Nicky explained that while he accepts criticism about his commentary—such as being called a loudmouth or other football-related insults—he cannot tolerate someone attacking his parents. He revealed that the individual insulted his mother's appearance and made degrading comments about his father, saying things like "Your mother's face looks like a heel" and "Your father is garbage, when will he get out of jail." Nicky acknowledged that his father had previously served time in prison, but emphasized this should not be used as a basis for public insults.

The actor noted that despite being criticized extensively on social media throughout his career, this is the first time he is filing a police complaint. He stated he is only pursuing this one case because the person crossed a line by attacking his family. Nicky also revealed that he posted on Facebook offering a 2,000 baht reward for information identifying the suspect, and has since learned the person is a real individual, approximately 30 years old. He expressed a desire to meet the accused and see what kind of mother the person has, given that the individual felt comfortable insulting his own mother.

Regarding the review of House election complaints, Sawang stated that all matters are being expedited. Over the past two years, elections have been held at all levels—Senate, local government, and House elections—generating over 2,000 complaints. The most urgent matter is one major Senate election dispute case, while other cases will follow specified timeframes: qualification issues within 60 days, vote recounts within 90 days after results announcement, and general complaints within one year. The EC will determine which cases to prioritize while ensuring no deadlines are exceeded.

Regarding the Senate election dispute case progress, Sawang noted that the EC office submitted all documents to the Election Commission in late April. The outcome now depends on the Commission's review timeline, with updates to be reported periodically if there is progress.

On the matter of election ballots with QR codes and barcodes being heard in the Constitutional Court, Sawang reported that five witnesses have been named. Witness statements are still pending within the 15-day deadline, and no court documents have been received yet. The office has asked witnesses whether they need to provide additional clarifications.

CKPower successfully placed 5 billion baht in green bonds with subscriptions exceeding double the target, with proceeds funding the Luang Prabang hydroelectric project in Laos.

8 May Khaosod

Thanawat Treewisavet, Managing Director of CK Power Public Company Limited (CKP), one of the region's largest renewable energy producers with one of the lowest carbon footprints, announced that from April 27-29, CKPower successfully placed three tranches of green debentures totaling 5 billion baht. The offering was oversubscribed by more than double, reflecting investor confidence in the company's business fundamentals and growth trajectory amid global economic uncertainty.

"CKPower thanks all investors for their trust and confidence in our green bonds and operations, as well as the lead arrangers—Krung Thai Bank Public Company Limited, CIMB Thai Bank Public Company Limited, Siam Commercial Bank Public Company Limited, and Kiatnakin Phatra Securities Public Company Limited—who played a crucial role in the successful placement," Thanawat said. The outcome demonstrates strong confidence in the company's solid business foundation and its renewable energy strategy focused on energy security and sustainable growth.

The debentures received an "A-" credit rating from Tris Rating with a stable outlook, equivalent to the company's corporate credit rating. They were classified as green debentures in compliance with the Green Bond Principles 2021, Green Loan Principles 2025, and Thailand Taxonomy 2023, and underwent independent external review by DNV, reflecting international best practices in transparent and verifiable capital raising.

The three tranches consist of: - 4-year maturity: 2.5 billion baht at 3.89% annual interest - 7-year maturity: 1 billion baht at 3.46% annual interest, with early redemption rights - 10-year maturity: 1.5 billion baht at 3.75% annual interest, with early redemption rights

Proceeds will fund the Luang Prabang hydroelectric project in Laos, currently under construction, strengthening Thailand's energy stability and supporting the global renewable energy transition. This successful placement reinforces CKPower's role as a green bond issuer linking capital raising to environmentally friendly energy projects.

Thanawat noted that for the five-year plan (2025-2029), CKPower aims to expand capacity through solar projects via private PPAs and government bidding processes, alongside renewable energy certificate (REC) sales. The Luang Prabang hydroelectric project is 65% complete by end-2024 and is expected to achieve commercial operation by 2029. CKPower remains committed to supporting innovation and development of energy efficiency solutions.

8 May Khaosod

Michael Carrick, interim manager of Manchester United, acknowledges that his future with the club is not entirely in his hands, despite successfully guiding the team back to UEFA Champions League football. Carrick was appointed as interim manager until the end of the season following Rúben Amorim's dismissal on January 6, and has since compiled a record of 10 wins in 14 league matches. His impressive performance has made the 44-year-old a leading candidate for the permanent managerial position at Manchester United, though he confirms there has been no progress regarding his future at Old Trafford. "Clarity is important—my situation, my role, and what happens next—nothing has changed," he said. "It's been just a few days since we achieved our goal of finishing the season strongly. I understand the questions and the timing. From my perspective right now, it's about keeping the players in a state of readiness to finish the season well." "As I've said all along, I'm at peace with it. It will sort itself out when the time comes. It's beyond my control."

Phutthachai BUS Returns to Ice Hockey After 3 Years – Pim Reveals He Plays Because of His Older Brother

Celebrity brothers Phutthachai BUS and Pim Thanat return to competitive ice hockey after years away, with Pim crediting his older brother as inspiration for taking up the sport at the XPENG International Ice Hockey Cup 2026 in Thailand.

8 May Khaosod

Phutthachai BUS is making his ice hockey comeback after three years away, vowing to perform at his best, while his younger brother Pim Thanat is thrilled by the growing interest in ice hockey and credits his older brother as his inspiration. On May 7, the famous artist and former ice hockey player Phutthachai BUS, along with his younger brother Pim Thanat Limpanya from '9214KIDS,' attended a press conference for the international 'XPENG International Ice Hockey Cup 2026 – Asia Elite Series' at Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena, sharing their emotions about returning to the ice.

Both brothers expressed happiness and excitement at their return after being away from ice hockey for an extended period. Pim revealed he's been shaking off the rust for about three months and is eager to face strong competitors, while Phutthachai admitted it's been over three years since he last played and hinted at special performances and surprises coming soon for fans.

When asked about his feelings, Phutthachai said: "I'm happy, really. I haven't been on the ice in a long time. The last time I played was with Copper and Heart, which was ages ago. I'm always happy when I come back, and I love the atmosphere on the ice."

Pim added: "I'm feeling happy and excited. The atmosphere is really nice, and I'm excited to compete against some really talented opponents."

Regarding the tournament, Pim expressed anticipation for the international competitors and matches ahead.

When asked what's special about this return, Pim noted he's still able to play despite not having competed for about three months, and he's committed to shaking off the rust. Phutthachai revealed the significant gap of three years and acknowledged he's forgotten a lot, but promised to give his absolute best.

Phutthachai remembered his last game as a friendly match where he had to leave early for dance practice, marking the end of his ice hockey career. He cherished the memory because it was the last time playing with his teammates.

When hinted about good news, Phutthachai teased: "Well, there will be a comeback performance on the ice (smiling). There will be special performances too, but let everyone follow the details. It's coming soon, so stay tuned."

On his fitness level, Phutthachai explained: "We stay fit all the time. In two days we'll have OLYMPOP, and I've been an athlete my whole life. I believe we maintain our fitness to be ready for athletic competitions efficiently whenever we get the opportunity."

When asked how long it's been since Pim played with his older brother, Pim couldn't recall exactly. Phutthachai explained the long gap, noting their age difference meant they competed in different age groups as children, and at their current age, they compete with peers their own age, so they haven't played together for a very long time.

When asked if Pim had mentioned he plays because of his older brother, Pim confirmed: "Yes, back then he seemed to want to play, so I followed along. Once we started playing together, it felt really fun, so we kept playing together."

Asked how Phutthachai felt hearing this, he responded: "I'm happy that I could be an inspiration for my younger brother and others to pick up a hockey stick and pursue their dreams. I think my younger brother is also inspiring the new generation to play ice hockey. I'm really glad that more people are loving and playing ice hockey now than when we used to play."

Pakornsut Demands 6 Documents to Open 'Sakdisiam' Case Files, Claims 140 Names Already Filed for Supreme Court Investigation

Pheu Thai deputy leader Pakornsut demanded six documents from anti-corruption officials to reopen an investigation into former Transport Minister Sakdisiam's stock manipulation case, citing irregularities and questioning why evidence differ

8 May Khaosod

At 9:50 AM on May 8, 2025, at the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) headquarters, Pakornsut Udomphipattanakul, a Pheu Thai party list MP and deputy party leader, submitted a request to access and review documents related to former Transport Minister Sakdisiam Chidchob's stock manipulation case, in his capacity as the original plaintiff.

Parkornsut requested six specific documents: (1) fact-finding reports and all evidence collected in the case; (2) the notice of charges against Sakdisiam; (3) Sakdisiam's written statements to the NACC; (4) opinions from all NACC officials responsible for the case; (5) minutes of NACC committee meetings; and (6) the NACC committee's final verdict on the case.

Parkornsut noted this is not the first such request, citing the precedent of former Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan's jewelry case, where the Supreme Administrative Court ultimately ruled that the NACC must open case files to requesters. He expressed hope the NACC would not use privacy laws or state secrets as reasons to deny access, given this established precedent.

When asked if he doubts the NACC's decision, Pakornsut said he absolutely does. He stated the case involves irregularities, having reviewed evidence presented to the Constitutional Court. He wants to know how the NACC's evidence compares to what the Constitutional Court used, questioning why the NACC may have omitted certain documents that could be crucial to the investigation.

Regarding the NACC's previous clarification, Pakornsut argued the case involves falsely filed assets, with the critical element being intent to conceal. He emphasized that proving intent must be based on the time the assets were filed in 2019, not on subsequent events in 2024 or 2025, making the NACC's reasoning illogical.

When asked whether the NACC's dismissal might allow Sakdisiam to return to political office, Pakornsut acknowledged that Sakdisiam became eligible for ministerial positions two years after the Constitutional Court's verdict. However, he noted uncertainty about the Prime Minister's Office's qualification verification process, though Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has already stated Sakdisiam would not be appointed as a minister.

Parkornsut also addressed observations that cases are dismissed when certain administrations take power, acknowledging the previous government also faced similar dismissals, but questioning the pattern itself.
