Dump Truck Crashes Into Overpass, Injuring Driver And Child
A dump truck's hydraulic bed unexpectedly raised while moving on Bangna-Trat Road in Samut Prakan, causing it to strike an overpass and flip, injuring the 44-year-old driver and his 6-year-old daughter.
A ten-wheeled dump truck experienced a terrifying incident on Bangna-Trat Road when its hydraulic bed suddenly raised while traveling, causing it to collide violently with a U-turn bridge support. The truck's cab then flipped and crashed to the road, creating clouds of dust. A father and his 6-year-old daughter were injured in the impact.
The accident occurred at 3:55 p.m. on July 6, 2025, at kilometer 17 of Bangna-Trat Road in Bang Phleng district, Samut Prakan province. The dump truck's hydraulic bed lifted unexpectedly while the vehicle was moving, striking the bridge barrier and causing the cab to flip over onto the pavement. Security cameras from the local administrative organization captured the moment of impact.
Volunteers from Ruam Katanyu Foundation foundation rushed to help. The 44-year-old driver Suwat and his 6-year-old daughter suffered injuries from the crash and were taken to the hospital. The driver confirmed he had lowered the dump bed at a nearby worksite just before the accident but could not explain how it suddenly raised. He only realized what had happened when the truck hit the bridge and became airborne.
Following the incident, authorities closed the right lane and portions of the entire roadway to allow a crane to lift the damaged truck and clear traffic. Pichakorn Srichanthong, director of the Samut Prakan Highway Division, arrived to oversee operations and coordinated with engineers to inspect the bridge structure at the accident site.
Initial visual assessment indicated the bridge remained structurally sound and safe for use, though expert inspection was ordered for confirmation. The transport company and its insurance provider will handle all damages. The company will also arrange for specialists to investigate the cause of the hydraulic bed failure, determining whether it resulted from a hydraulic system malfunction or driver error.
