Drug Smugglers Lose Control, Crash Into Home Fence Before Abandoning Car and 300kg of Ice
Drug smugglers lost control of a blue Honda City and crashed into a fence in Nakhon Ratchasima on May 2, abandoning the vehicle with 300kg of methamphetamine before escaping in a Toyota Fortuner.
On May 2, 2025, Lieutenant Payungsak Yangklang, an investigator with Khong Police Station in Nakhon Ratchasima province, responded to a traffic accident report but found no driver at the scene. The incident occurred on the Khong-Kham Sakhaeng road near the entrance to Non Thong village in Non Teng subdistrict, Khong district, Nakhon Ratchasima.
Officers discovered a blue Honda City sedan with Udon Thani license plate ขพ 6407 that had skidded off the road and crashed into a tree and residential fence, with extensive front-end damage. Upon detailed inspection of the vehicle, no driver was found, but six black plastic bags wrapped in clear tape were discovered in the passenger cabin and rear of the car. Preliminary examination revealed the bags contained 300 kilograms of methamphetamine, packaged in 300 individual one-kilogram portions, which were immediately seized as evidence.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash and found a Thai male, approximately 40-45 years old, 160 centimeters tall, thin build, dark complexion, with short hair, wearing a black short-sleeved shirt with white chest design, three-quarter denim pants, and white-and-black sneakers. He carried a red bag on his left shoulder and exited the driver's side door alone. The man spoke with a northeastern accent, appeared nervous and agitated, and held two mobile phones. When asked about reporting to police or insurance, he responded, "No, I've already arranged it," and handed his phone to speak with someone using the Line app username "Seua Dam."
During the call, the person claimed they were 4-5 kilometers away. Soon after, a bronze Toyota Fortuner with Bangkok license plate 8 กข 2160 arrived at the scene, pulled alongside with its driver's window down, and called for the stranded driver to get into the back door before speeding away toward Khong district. Witnesses immediately alerted police.
Investigators have coordinated with the forensic evidence center to process the scene for hidden fingerprints and forensic evidence linking the suspects. The investigation team is actively pursuing the driver and associated network members for swift legal prosecution, as this involves a large-scale drug shipment that authorities believe was being illegally transported through Nakhon Ratchasima province during a long holiday period when the accident occurred.
