On May 14, 2025, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Suriya Jurungreungkij chaired the first management committee meeting of the year for the 2029 Nakhon Ratchasima International Horticultural Expo at the Agriculture Ministry conference room. The meeting reviewed overall event progress and readiness in venue design, infrastructure development including transportation and facilities, ensuring compliance with World Expo standards.
Minister Suriya announced that the International Horticultural Expo 2029 Korat Thailand is scheduled for November 10, 2572 – February 28, 2573, under the theme "Nature & Greenery: Envisioning the Green Future" spanning five core concepts: the world's pantry and future food, sustainable horticultural technology and innovation, livable future cities, biodiversity, and nature, art and culture. The Agriculture Ministry's Department of Agriculture is coordinating with relevant agencies including the Foreign Ministry, Transport Ministry, Natural Resources Ministry, Higher Education Ministry, and Tourism and Sports Ministry to develop the area according to World Expo standards.
The Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) has introduced new evaluation criteria emphasizing rigor, transparency, and enhanced assessment standards across all dimensions for the first time.
The meeting also received an update on the 2026 Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo (November 1, 2025 – March 14, 2026) at Nong Daeng wetlands. The project is 76.96% complete, with main structural work finished at 100%, architectural and system work in progress, and landscaping 54.33% complete. Currently, 17 countries and organizations have confirmed participation in garden exhibits, with 9 additional organizations expressing interest.
