Akkanat Pushes for Justice in Case of Police Officer's Misconduct Toward Female Server, Demands Offender Face Both Disciplinary and Criminal Penalties
A Kanchanaburi MP is demanding justice for a female restaurant server who says a police officer sexually assaulted her, insisting the officer face both disciplinary and criminal penalties at Lad Yai Police Station.
On May 22, 2026, at Lad Yai Police Station in Mueang Kanchanaburi District, Akkanat Kannkittinanth, Kanchanaburi Member of Parliament from the Pheu Thai Party and Deputy Minister of Education, visited Kanchanaburi province to monitor the case of a female server at a grilled pork restaurant who was subjected to inappropriate conduct by a police officer inside the restaurant.
Akkanat revealed that the incident has affected public confidence and confirmed with the investigation director and officers that the case will be handled fairly with no interference or intimidation of the victim. "As a representative of the people in this area, I assure the victim that she will receive justice. The offender must face both disciplinary and criminal penalties. No one is above the law," Akkanat stated.
Akkanat emphasized that the case examination must be based on facts, that wrongs must be treated as wrongs, and that justice must be protected. He assured that all citizens, not just Kanchanaburi residents, should not have their rights violated in such a manner.
Regarding the accused officer's denial, Akkanat noted that it is the police's responsibility to gather evidence, particularly CCTV footage from multiple angles, which can clearly establish the facts. "If we find actual wrongdoing and the accused still refuses to take responsibility, decisive action must be taken with no exceptions," Akkanat said.
A 20-year-old female server at the grilled pork restaurant reported being assaulted by a police officer, describing the incident as shocking.
