Bayern Munich Extends Contracts for Two Star Goalkeepers Neuer and Ulreich by One Year Each

Bayern Munich extended contracts for veteran goalkeepers Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich by one year each, with the 40-year-old Neuer having made 597 appearances since 2011.

3d ago Khaosod

Bayern Munich has successfully extended contracts with two accomplished goalkeepers, Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich, adding one more year to each deal. The 40-year-old Neuer joined Bayern in 2011 and has become a cornerstone of the club's success, having made 597 appearances for the Bavarian giants. Ulreich, 37, previously played for Bayern from 2015-2020 before departing and returning in 2021. Though serving primarily as a backup, he has logged 104 matches for the club. Neuer commented, "I took considerable time with my decision and I'm very happy now. The goalkeepers in our team are united and constantly strive to raise our standards. We push each other and have always been fully prepared for competition." Bayern plans to gradually elevate young prospect Jonas Urbig as their primary goalkeeper in the future, which is expected to reduce playing time for both Neuer and Ulreich.

3d ago Khaosod

Middlesbrough has issued a statement demanding that Southampton be stripped of their spot in the English Football League Championship playoff final following an ongoing EFL investigation into the club. During the semi-final match, which ended 1-1 before Southampton's 2-1 extra-time victory, Southampton was accused of violating league rules by covertly observing and recording Middlesbrough's training session. The EFL announced the hearing is expected to commence on May 19 or potentially earlier, pending confirmation, with a decision to be rendered as quickly as possible, though a firm schedule has yet to be finalized. The EFL also indicated that the investigation could result in the Championship final between Southampton and Hull City on May 23 being postponed, though current plans maintain that the match should proceed as originally scheduled. In their latest statement, Middlesbrough declared that such unauthorized observation and recording of their training constitutes a breach of sporting ethics, and stated that the appropriate punishment would be to disqualify Southampton from competing in the playoff final.

Matthijs de Ligt Undergoes Back Surgery, Ruled Out of 2026 World Cup

Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt has undergone back surgery and will miss the 2026 World Cup, ending his recovery hopes after nearly six months sidelined since November.

3d ago Khaosod

Matthijs de Ligt, the defensive linchpin for Manchester United's "Red Devils" in the English Premier League, has been definitively ruled out of the 2026 World Cup following surgery to treat a chronic back injury that has proven far more serious than anticipated.

De Ligt has been absent from United's lineup since the Crystal Palace match on November 30, 2025. At that time, manager Ruben Amorim suggested the Dutch international would return within a week. However, his recovery did not progress as quickly as predicted. Even current manager Michael Carrick initially indicated Manchester United had not considered surgery as an option, but recent attempts by de Ligt to resume training and running have yielded poor results.

De Ligt revealed through Instagram: "After 6 months of rehabilitation to return to playing, we've found that surgery is the only remaining option. I'm disappointed that I haven't been able to help the team for so long, and now I'll have to miss the World Cup as well."

Man Barricades Himself in Room After Father Reports Him to Police for Drug Use; Mother and Sister Attempt to Comfort Him, Tragedy Unfolds

A 35-year-old man in Satun fatally shot himself after his father reported him to police for drug use and he barricaded himself in his bedroom, with his mother and sister present during the tragedy.

3d ago Khaosod

On May 15, 2025, Deputy Police Captain Nikon Mekruang of Tung Wa Police Station in Satun received a report of a fatal shooting at a residence in Moo 2, Tung Wa Subdistrict. Officers and medical personnel from Tung Wa Hospital responded and discovered the body of a 35-year-old man (name withheld) in a bedroom with a single gunshot wound to the chest. A 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found nearby, along with methamphetamine pills scattered on tables and throughout the room.

According to the victim's father, he had reported to police that morning that his son was addicted to drugs and regularly invited friends over to use at the house. When police and local officials arrived, the son panicked and locked himself in his bedroom. His mother and sister then entered to try to comfort him and persuade him to surrender peacefully. However, the son, already stressed and feeling betrayed by his family, combined with the effects of the drugs, refused to listen to their pleas and fatally shot himself in the chest in front of them.

Police Captain Natthawin Wiphasinont, commander of Tung Wa Police Station, explained that officers had cordoned off the area and avoided pressuring the suspect upon learning he had a firearm, but the family's attempt to console him led to the tragic outcome. Preliminary investigation indicates the gun was pawned from someone else, and authorities are investigating the true owner.

Wave of Wheel Thefts at Airport Link Hua Mak Parking Lot Sparks Safety Warning

Thieves targeting the Airport Link Hua Mak parking lot stole wheels from multiple vehicles in May, exploiting the unsupervised free lot that doubles as a dumping ground for abandoned cars.

3d ago Khaosod

On May 15, 2025, the Facebook page 'Sanam Luang Today' issued a safety alert after thieves stole wheels from multiple vehicles parked in the lot beneath Airport Link Hua Mak station. The post showed photos of several cars with wheels removed, some propped up with rocks and others left without support. One sedan, covered in bird droppings from prolonged parking, also fell victim to the thefts.

The social media alert sparked widespread comments from residents who noted that most vehicles in the lot are long-term abandoned cars—left for months or even years rather than days. The free parking area lacks security guards or official supervision, attracting both abandoned vehicles and thieves. Many frustrated netizens complained about the lack of available spaces for legitimate airport users, calling on authorities to address the security and management issues at the location.

40 Thai nationals repatriated from Cambodian prison; 6 have arrest warrants, 15 linked to mule account scams

Forty Thai nationals repatriated from Cambodia through Chanthaburi were screened upon return, revealing six with active arrest warrants and 15 linked to call center fraud and mule account scams.

3d ago Khaosod

On May 15, Deputy Provincial Police Commander Arkpon Sunthrawipat of Chanthaburi, alongside officers from Pong Nam Ron Police Station, Chanthaburi Immigration Bureau, and other agencies, took custody of 40 Thai nationals who had completed sentences in Cambodia and were transferred back through the permanent Baan Phak Kad border checkpoint in Khlong Yai District, Pong Nam Ron. After collection from the consulate general in Siem Reap, all individuals underwent human trafficking screening (NRM) and detailed criminal background checks. Six of the 40 showed criminal histories and had active arrest warrants for outstanding cases; authorities immediately placed them in custody for relevant investigative agencies. Another 15 individuals were linked to mule account schemes, with records showing involvement in providing and using fake accounts in technology-related crimes. Some had connections across multiple cases, indicating they were key operatives in call center fraud networks. Investigation revealed the group engaged in illegal border crossing and may be connected to networks affecting security during the unstable Thai-Cambodian border situation. The National Security Operations Center has detained these individuals under the Martial Law Act B.E. 2457 for seven days pending deep investigation. Provincial police have coordinated with stations nationwide regarding victims in cases tied to the 15 mule account suspects to gather evidence and pursue charges according to national police guidelines.
