Sepaktakraw World Federation Rules Clarified: Stepping Over Centerline Is a Foul, But Why Was It Only Called Against Thailand?

Thailand withdrew from the Sepaktakraw World Cup final against Malaysia after disputing referee calls, claiming a centerline-crossing foul was enforced selectively against their team despite both sides committing the infraction.

1d ago Khaosod

International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) rules are being scrutinized following Thailand's men's team withdrawal from the final match against Malaysia at the ISTAF Sepaktakraw World Cup 2026 held at Stadium Titiwangsa in Malaysia. The Thai team disputed referee Muhammad Radhi's officiating, citing multiple unfair calls, especially in the third set's final point when a Thai player was penalized for stepping over the centerline—a rule that should have an exception during the follow-through motion. According to ISTAF Rule 11.3.2, stepping over the centerline is indeed a foul, but with an exception stated as: "Any part of a player's body crossing into the opponent's court, whether above or below the net, constitutes a foul except during the follow-through motion after executing a spike." The rule clarifies that crossing the centerline is prohibited except during the natural continuation of a spike. However, during the disputed match, both teams stepped over the centerline multiple times, yet Singaporean referee Radhi appeared to enforce the rule only against Thailand, ultimately prompting the Thai team to withdraw from the competition.

Thawi Sodsung Worried About 89 Senators Pressuring 'Taeng,' Opposition Leader, Reflecting Democratic Crisis

A group of 89 senators demanded an apology from opposition Democrat Party leader Natthapon Ruangpanya for criticizing the Senate, prompting concerns from other politicians that the ultimatum threatens parliamentary freedom of speech.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 25, 2025, political tensions escalated once again as 89 senators issued a statement responding to Natthapon Ruangpanya, leader of the Democrat Party and opposition coalition, who had criticized the Senate's role in protecting democracy and accused it of supporting the military establishment. The 89 senators denounced his remarks as defamatory and the "worst behavior," demanding he issue a public apology to the Senate within three days or face further action.

However, this aggressive stance triggered widespread criticism, particularly from opposition politicians who viewed the ultimatum as an attempt to suppress legislative freedom of expression. Pol. Lt. Gen. Thawi Sodsung, head of the Bhum Jai Thai Party, recently weighed in on the controversy, emphasizing that he harbors no bias but wants to emphasize democratic principles and the role of elected representatives.

Thawi stressed that members of parliament, as people's representatives, must have constitutional freedom to express political opinions. He argued that Natthapon's right to speak is protected under democracy, especially for public figures, and that criticized parties should respond with reasoned arguments rather than threats.

Thawi also challenged the 89 senators' statement, noting inconsistencies with constitutional principles, particularly their claim to legitimacy through a professional group selection system. While awaiting court rulings, Thawi emphasized that political legitimacy—public trust and acceptance—is equally important as legal compliance.

He referenced the recent February 8 referendum results showing over 61.10% of voters support drafting a new constitution, calling this a clear signal that citizens reject the current constitutional framework. Thawi urged the Senate to focus on accepting public criticism and serving the people, rather than threatening opposition groups, and called for making constitutional reform a top national priority.

Gunman Surrenders After Love Triangle Shooting, Tells Ex Not to Repeat This with Anyone Else as Two Men Discuss the Incident

A 29-year-old man surrendered after shooting another man during a love triangle dispute in Bangkok, claiming self-defense when his rival appeared armed at their meeting near Bang Na.

1d ago Khaosod

At 3:00 PM on May 25, 2026, at Bang Kaew Police Station, Police Lieutenant Colonel Pisut Chanthasuwan, the station commander, and Deputy Inspector Charoen Haikhwansuk brought in 29-year-old Vasant (Morphine) and his 22-year-old driver friend for questioning about the shooting incident.

Vasant explained that he began arguing with Ms. Chalada (Noy) in April due to jealousy after dating for about a year. Two weeks before the incident, Tinnarath (First) allegedly climbed to Noy's house threatening violence. When Noy discovered First had impregnated another woman and threatened to kill household members, tensions escalated.

The conflict originated when Noy was arrested for carrying an electronic cigarette at Samut Prakan City Police Station and couldn't reach anyone, so she contacted Vasant for help. In April, when Vasant went on a trip, Noy texted him sarcastically about who goes on trips at this time. First then called Vasant saying "Why are you messing with my wife?" leading to an argument. First later arranged to meet Vasant at Rama 4 near Bang Na to settle the dispute over Noy.

Vasant claimed he saw First carrying a shotgun, so he fired 3-4 shots in self-defense, immediately throwing the gun (his deceased brother's) into the river. He maintained his relationship with First had always been good, even storing items for him after his prison release.

Noy disappeared after the shooting. Vasant said he told her not to do this with anyone else again, claiming he loved her and would do anything, including caring for her nails and helping her make a living. He loved that she was hardworking, though she had the habit of talking to both him and First constantly. On the incident day, he only learned Noy had returned to loving First.

Vasant's sister, Miao, stated that on the incident day, she learned First had challenged her brother to a fight. She drove past the injured man several times and noticed a weapon at his waist. She spoke to First, urging calm and suggesting they fight man-to-man without weapons, noting that fighting over one woman wouldn't resolve anything in the future.

Deputy National Police Chief Cracks Down on Crime in Chanthaburi, Names Noen FM as Nation's 7th Largest Drug Hub

The deputy national police chief visited Chanthaburi to tackle drug trafficking, identifying the Noen FM community as Thailand's seventh-largest drug hub and proposing access restrictions combined with dealer crackdowns to eliminate the per

1d ago Khaosod

On May 25, 2569, Deputy National Police Chief General Tachathai Pitaneelabutr, overseeing prevention and suppression operations for the Royal Thai Police, visited Chanthaburi province alongside Governor Montsit Paisalthanavatana and other provincial leaders to coordinate action on nine critical issues mandated by the Prime Minister.

These priorities include illegal encroachment on public land, cybercrime, nominee business structures, drug trafficking, money laundering, influential figures, unlicensed debt, tourist safety, and security database integration.

Provincial officials identified addressing methamphetamine addiction and drug trafficking as the most urgent matter for Chanthaburi. The Noen FM community in Muang District ranks as the province's largest drug distribution center, the second largest in the Eastern Region, and the seventh largest nationwide.

Noen FM serves as a continuous market where users purchase drugs, dealers reside within the community, and despite numerous arrests of both dealers and users over decades, the problem cyclically returns. More than half of patients at Chanthaburi's drug rehabilitation center report purchasing drugs from this community.

Deputy Chief Tachathai proposed adopting the Fort Worth Police Department model from Tennessee, which eliminated drug demand in neighborhoods, forcing dealers to relocate. He suggested restricting access to Noen FM to discourage users and increase fear of arrest.

Combined with dealer sweeps, this creates sustainable solutions through environmental improvement and law enforcement integration requiring close inter-agency coordination. The meeting approved pilot implementation in the FM community, while officials also recognized the need for psychiatric treatment facilities for drug-induced psychotic patients in the red group, who pose violence risks. Further solutions will be explored in subsequent meetings.

Dozens of fire engines and ambulances were parked outside the complex, and the surrounding roads were temporarily closed. Television footage showed firefighters and officials in hazmat suits assisting people, with some being brought out of the building.

Yuzo Tsuda, a 78-year-old Tokyo resident, told The Associated Press that he walked toward the shopping complex after having lunch with friends, drawn by the commotion, when he suddenly felt pain in his throat and started coughing. He said the ache in his throat subsided about an hour later and he did not plan to go to the hospital.

Gunmen disguised in hijabs shot and killed a teacher holding her infant in a car outside a Pattani school on Monday, also wounding her police officer husband during the attack near Yarang district.

1d ago Khaosod

Gunmen disguised as women wearing hijabs opened fire on a police officer and his family outside a school in Pattani province on Monday afternoon, killing the officer's wife while she was holding their infant child inside the vehicle.

The attack took place at around 15:30 near Prasan Wittaya Foundation School in Pong Sta subdistrict of Yarang district.

Police said four attackers dressed in women's clothing and wearing hijabs arrived on two motorcycles before pulling alongside the victims' car and opening fire.

The injured officer was identified as Pol. Snr. Sgt. Maj. Adul Hayeesulong of Yaring Police Station. His wife, Fatimoh Ya-ngoh, a teacher at the school, was killed at the scene while holding their baby in the car.

Authorities said the couple had travelled to the school to pick up their child when the attack occurred.

Security forces rushed the wounded officer to hospital and sealed off the area while launching a manhunt for the suspects. Checkpoints were also set up across nearby areas to prevent further attacks and track down those responsible.

The Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Command strongly condemned the attack, describing the gunmen's actions as "inhumane" and contrary to religious principles.

Officals said the incident had deeply shocked local residents, particularly because a woman and infant child were present during the shooting.

Suchart opens 2026 National Community Forest Day, promoting the concept 'Creating Happiness, Creating Income, Creating the Future' with a target of developing over 12,000 community forests nationwide into a sustainable green economic foundation.

On May 25, 2026, at the Naval Seamanship Center in Chonburi Province, Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, chaired the opening of the 'National Community Forest Day' for 2026 under the theme 'Community Forest Based Wellness: Community Forests Creating Happiness, Creating Income, Creating the Future.'

Chonburi Governor Narit Niramayavongs and MP Anant Pridasutchit welcomed the event, which was attended by Dr. Raweevan Puridech, Permanent Secretary of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, along with executives from related agencies, government officials, Royal Forest Department staff, and community forest network representatives.

This event aims to promote people living harmoniously with forests according to sufficiency economy principles, while elevating over 12,000 community forests to serve as a foundation for sustainable economic and environmental security nationwide.

Suchart revealed that the government, under Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, prioritizes forest resource management, particularly promoting community roles in forest conservation under the 2019 Community Forest Act. Currently, there are over 12,000 community forests distributed across all regions, covering 7 million rai and benefiting over 5 million households.

This event expresses gratitude to Thailand's monarchy for establishing the foundation for forest resource conservation and development through royal initiatives, emphasizing balance between conservation and sustainable use so people can coexist with forests in accordance with sufficiency economy philosophy.

Suchart further noted that community forests serve as important carbon storage resources, helping mitigate climate change impacts and preserving natural heritage for future generations.

Royal Forest Department Director-General Nikorn Siridej stated that the department has an important mission to implement policy focusing on strengthening community forest networks and enabling them to manage resources efficiently under the 2019 Community Forest Act. Rather than merely supervising, the department acts as a 'mentor' providing academic and technical support, promoting local wisdom to add value to forest products, and ensuring community forests serve as sustainable sources of income and happiness.

Today's activities include presenting awards and certificates of honor to model community forest networks and supporting partners, distributing subsidies to community forest representatives from four regions, and awarding 'Forest Protectors, Land Lovers' recognition marks. The event features a community forest product market and demonstrations of products and services derived from community forest resources.

The Royal Forest Department and Natural Resources and Environment Ministry invite the public and all sectors to campaign for community forest conservation in their areas through tree planting, water-retaining weir construction, patrols, and firebreak maintenance to continue the royal vision and strengthen the nation's resource base sustainably.

Mayor Tuey Addresses Bang Saen Beach Tent Controversy: Jong-Caelan Issue Resolved, Just a Misunderstanding

Saansook Municipality Mayor Nongchai Kunpleum resolved a tent rental dispute with South Korean YouTubers Jong and Caelan at Bang Saen Beach, attributing the 400-baht overcharge to miscommunication about beachfront pricing. The municipality

1d ago Khaosod

May 25, 2025 – Nongchai Kunpleum, Mayor of Saansook Municipality, addressed the controversy involving South Korean YouTubers Jong and Caelan, who were charged 400 baht for two tent rentals at Bang Saen Beach. Although the money was eventually returned, the mayor expressed his regret as a fan of both content creators and apologized to them and their followers.

The mayor explained that the incident stemmed from unclear communication and misunderstanding. The tent rental area adjacent to Bang Saen Beach operates under an agreement with the municipality that has been in place for years. Operators are permitted to rent chairs and can only sell papaya salad and beverages; other food must be purchased from nearby shops.

The issue arose because the beachfront zone contains eight canopy beds total. When two people occupy one tent, the remaining six cannot be sold to others, creating a loss for the operator. The operator failed to clearly communicate that the beachfront area operates on a full-tent rental basis with negotiable pricing, leading to the misunderstanding when 400 baht was charged for just two people.

According to the mayor, Jong and Caelan had no issues with payment, but the incident gained traction on social media, causing damage. Non-beachfront tents cost 50 baht each, while beachfront tents require full-canopy rental charges.

Following the incident, Saansook Municipality will implement improved communication measures for tourists. The municipality has instructed operators to: 1. Clearly display pricing menus for all products and services 2. Confirm agreement on service charges before providing service 3. Strictly comply with regulations and operational terms

Tourists who prefer not to rent tents can use shade-only areas without tent rentals, with eight shaded spots available along the beach, or visit on Tuesdays when the beach is clear of rentals.

Assadullah Eyes Vacant Flyweight Throne Against Aslamjon in The Inner Circle on June 26

Russian flyweight Assadullah seeks the vacant ONE Muay Thai title against undefeated Uzbek fighter Aslamjon at Lumpinee Stadium on June 26, with both fighters carrying perfect records and one set to taste defeat for the first time.

1d ago Khaosod

Two young flyweight demons go head-to-head as Assadullah challenges Aslamjon for the vacant throne in The Inner Circle event this Friday, June 26. ONE Championship presents the main card of The Inner Circle on Friday, June 26, 2025 at Lumpinee Stadium (Rama Intra) for the vacant ONE Muay Thai flyweight championship (125-135 lbs) between 22-year-old Assadullah Imankasaliev from Russia and his equally young counterpart Aslamjon Ortikov from Uzbekistan. The match will be streamed exclusively for members on Live.ONEFC.com from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

With the ONE Muay Thai flyweight title vacant since 2567, the time has come for fresh blood like Assadullah, who gets his second shot at the belt, to prove his mettle against Aslamjon. Both fighters carry perfect professional records, and one must taste defeat for the first time—the victor will rightfully claim this coveted belt.

Assadullah remains undefeated with eight consecutive ONE victories. Most recently, he dominated former ONE Muay Thai bantamweight champion Nong O Hammamuaythai, stopping him in round two at ONE Lumpinee 147 in March 2025, maintaining his perfect 12-fight professional record. However, despite the victory, Assadullah missed weight and couldn't claim the flyweight title—making this his crucial second chance to overcome his opponent and ascend to the throne.

Meanwhile, Aslamjon continues his winning streak on the ONE stage, extending it to his tenth consecutive victory after a knockout finish of Colombia's Jordan Estupinán in round two at ONE Fight Night 43 in May 2025, keeping his undefeated professional record intact at 24 fights. Aslamjon has made his intentions clear, standing ready to challenge anyone in pursuit of the belt. Facing Assadullah represents another critical test he must overcome to prove himself as a true flyweight monster and undisputed champion of this division.

Wannor Revives Southern Border Peace Talks in Late June at Malaysia, Reveals PM Anutin Wants Resolution During This Term

Thailand's peace advisor revealed plans to resume southern border peace talks in late June in Malaysia, with PM Anutin determined to achieve resolution during his term after nearly two decades of conflict.

1d ago Khaosod

On May 25, 2025 at Government House, Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, Prime Minister's advisor, revealed details of discussions with Malaysian Ambassador Dato' Wan Saidi Wan Abdullah and delegation who visited to exchange congratulations following both officials taking new positions. The talks focused on the strong relationship between the two nations, with Malaysian tourists now ranking as Thailand's top visitor source, surpassing China. Wan Muhammad Noor stated that as advisor overseeing southern border province development, he believes strong bilateral relations will significantly enhance development in all aspects, including peace-building discussions where Malaysia facilitates negotiations between the government and dissenting parties. He noted that with cooperation, peace talks should progress smoothly. The peace negotiations should become clearer after a two-year hiatus, with technical preparations already underway and further discussions planned for early June before formal dialogue sessions. Wan Muhammad Noor indicated these formal talks, led by National Intelligence Agency Director Thanathorn Suwannannon as head of the southern border peace dialogue team, are expected to occur in late June at Malaysia. Regarding Malaysia's assessment of the new dialogue team leader, Wannor stated the Malaysian ambassador believes this appointment will bring greater negotiation progress, noting Thanathorn likely has prior contact with Malaysian officials. When asked about Malaysia's view of the current government, Wannor explained the new team will continue previous discussions, with expected progress given changing circumstances and personnel on both sides. Wannor further stated that PM Anutin Charnvirakul and Interior Minister want the talks concluded and peace achieved during this administration after nearly 20 years of conflict resulting in significant loss of life and resources. Wannor also revealed that Malaysia's agriculture minister will visit him privately to discuss joint agricultural development, as Thailand excels in fruits, vegetables, fertilizers, beef, and chicken production. He added that Malaysia serves as a major market for Thailand, with plans to bring food and agricultural businessmen and relevant ministers for future consultations.
