Thai U-23 National Team Players Report for Duty Ahead of Three Warm-Up Matches Before Asian Games
Thailand's U-23 football team reported for duty on May 26 to prepare for three warm-up matches in June against Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, and the UAE before competing at the Asian Games.
The Thai U-23 national football team under coach Thawatchai Damnuengotngram reported on May 26 to prepare for three warm-up matches against Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, and the UAE during FIFA's international window in June. One roster change occurred when Shin Ngun Phu Tain Yong from Sirinkhao Chiangrai United withdrew due to injury, replaced by Bukkhon Lemdit from Chonburi FC. Twenty-two players reported, with four missing due to Thai FA Cup final commitments, including Thanakrit Chotimeungpak from Buriram United, Colonel Manee Korn, Usamma Thiangkham, and Jehannafi Tama from PT Prachuap FC.
Physical assessments included heart rate checks, blood pressure, weight, height, body composition analysis via INBODY, flexibility and muscle tests, along with strength, speed, endurance, and agility evaluations.
Coach Thawatchai stated: "First, thanks to the association for giving us adequate preparation time before these three warm-up matches next month. Calling in 26 players gives us more options and lets us observe players across all three matches. I'm focusing on all three opponents since they're all competing in the Asian Games. All three teams—Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, and UAE—have quality. This is a good opportunity for warm-up games before the tournament, and having 26 players allows rotation and observation of both new and established players to see how team strength develops."
"Squad cuts are necessary. Some players from early camps moved to the senior team, while others withdrew due to injury. The injured players still have time before the tournament. We'll monitor them during their club preseason and watch their form in warm-up matches. Many senior team players were already with us from the start, which is beneficial—they gain experience with the senior squad and bring that back as core members of U-23. We've had extensive preparation this camp, including physicals with the Thai Sports Authority. After players finish their club seasons, we can assess their physical condition and fitness to plan appropriate training programs."
"I'd like to thank all Thai football fans for their support as we head into the Asian Games. Please give this team your full backing."
Siraphob Wandee, striker from Chonburi FC, said: "There are many new players, so we're trying to adapt quickly. Previously training in Portugal, I'm bringing that pace, strength, and experience to this camp."
