Heavy Rains, Monsoon Winds Prompt Weather Alert
The Thai Meteorological Department issued its 10th weather alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong winds across the country through July 3, with 47 provinces at risk of flooding and dangerous sea conditions in the Andaman Sea.
The Thai Meteorological Department issued its 10th warning on July 1, 2025, alerting the country to heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea through July 3. Heavy rains are expected particularly in the Eastern Region and Western Coast of the South due to a monsoon trough moving through the North and upper Northeast, combined with a strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand.
Residents in affected areas are urged to prepare for sudden flooding and flash floods, especially in areas near hillsides, waterways, and low-lying zones. The meteorological department has identified 47 provinces expecting heavy rainfall today. Waves in the upper Andaman Sea are forecast at 2-3 meters, exceeding 3 meters during thunderstorms. The lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand may see waves around 2 meters, rising above 2 meters during storms.
Fishermen operating in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are warned to proceed with extreme caution and avoid thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should remain ashore during this period. The public is advised to carefully plan their activities and travel during these dates. Updates are available through the Thai Meteorological Department website at www.tmd.go.th or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24/7.
