Woman Narrowly Escapes Death Trapped in Car During Violent Storm as Power Pole Crashes Down and Explodes

A woman narrowly escaped death when a power pole collapsed and exploded in front of her car during an intense rainstorm in Bangkok on May 7th, forcing her to pull over due to near-zero visibility.

8 May Khaosod

On May 9th, TikTok user @kanlayaphakk posted a harrowing video after becoming trapped in a violent rainstorm on the road alone, unable to continue driving. She described the moment as "nearly fatal," posting "A second from death. First time experiencing rain this intense. #Summer storm 7/5/2569 #Death was just within reach."

In the video, she was forced to pull over after visibility dropped to almost zero as heavy rain poured down. Looking ahead, she could see only white as intense wind gusts bent trees. She mentioned motorcycles were parked nearby when suddenly the power pole in front of her vehicle collapsed, triggering a terrifying explosion before the clip ended. The incident occurred on May 7th in the Nong Chok area of Bangkok.

After the post went viral, many expressed concern about the safety of the motorcyclists nearby. The poster confirmed they were safe. Internet users also shared survival advice, recommending turning on hazard lights and interior lights, moving the car to an open area away from trees, sharing location with family, and staying calm and mentally focused.

The poster later explained that the rain was extremely heavy from the start, making it impossible to see the road. She pulled over and turned on hazard lights, initially fearing a rear-end collision, but never expected a power pole to collapse. She felt fortunate to have pulled over beforehand, noting that continuing to drive would have been impossible at that moment and she was relieved not to have stopped directly under the falling pole.

Authorities apprehended him on May 8 with his cooperation.

An inmate identified as Saeksorn has been captured in Chon Buri Province after escaping from Thanyaburi District Prison in Pathum Thani while participating in a vocational training program outside prison walls. Chinese Man Arrested After Car Crash Seized with Arsenal of Weapons; C-4 Explosives Found Trigger Mass Evacuation

A 30-year-old Chinese national was arrested after a car crash in Rayong Province with five C-4 explosives, multiple firearms, and grenades found in his possession, triggering mass evacuations and emergency bomb disposal operations.

8 May Khaosod

On May 8, police arrested 30-year-old Chinese national Ming Chen Sun following a vehicle accident investigation, seizing five firearms including assault rifles and handguns, along with grenades, M75 explosives, and military ammunition. Officers were shocked to discover five C-4 explosives weighing 16 pounds each attached to a bulletproof vest with a remote-controlled detonation system, prompting an immediate evacuation order for residents within a high-destruction radius. Officials called in EOD teams to assess and neutralize the explosives, which were successfully disarmed at 8:41 PM.

Authorities also found fake identification documents including a Shan identity card, a Korean passport, and an American passport in the suspect's possession. Ming allegedly purchased the weapons and explosives from a social media contact three to four years ago and arranged delivery in Rayong Province. He claimed the C-4 devices were prepared for a suicide attempt due to depression, stating he had lived in Thailand for four years, previously operated a Chinese restaurant in Cambodia, and had dated a Thai woman before breaking up.

Phone records revealed videos of Ming test-firing weapons and using live chickens as target practice, along with footage of grenade detonation tests in water bodies and military weapons training—all allegedly conducted in Cambodia. The investigation remains ongoing with additional evidence collection in progress.

Delivery Rider Left Baffled After Customer Demands He Split the Bill with Her

A delivery rider refused a customer's demand to split the bill for a 179-baht food order, insisting she pay in full despite her claims the order had been cancelled in the system.

8 May Khaosod

A delivery rider was left confused and frustrated after being told by a female customer to split the food bill with her. In the video clip posted on May 8 by the Facebook page 'Sopao – This Needs Attention,' the rider delivered an order but found himself in a heated argument. The customer claimed the system showed full payment was required, but explained she had called to ask why the restaurant status showed it was still being prepared. She questioned why there were so many orders at the restaurant and why the system indicated the food was still being prepared. The rider countered, 'How would I know how many orders the restaurant has? My job is just to wait.' The customer shot back, 'Why didn't you tell me the order was delayed? Why did you make me wait?' When the rider asked, 'What did I do wrong?' the customer responded, 'I'm explaining that this violates company policy.' The rider replied, 'Then I have to pay half the food cost?' The customer answered, 'Isn't that a company rule?' The rider firmly stated, 'No, there's no such rule about paying half, ma'am.' The customer then explained, 'This is my offer. You had already cancelled the order in the system, but you're waiting for the system to approve it, which it hasn't done yet. That's why I'm offering we split it.' The rider insisted, 'That's not okay. You need to pay the full 179 baht.' The customer continued, 'But you already cancelled it, it's just that the system hasn't processed it.' The rider argued back, 'It hasn't been cancelled yet, ma'am,' before the video ended.
