Woman Posts Warning After Stranger Jogs Alongside Her for 10 Kilometers from Suan Ben to Suan Lum
A woman issued a safety alert after a stranger jogged alongside her for 10 kilometers through Suan Ben and Suan Lum parks, deliberately matching her pace until she encountered a friend near 9 PM.
A Facebook user posted a safety warning in a local running group alerting female runners about a suspicious incident. During a recent run from Suan Ben to Suan Lum, she noticed a man begin jogging alongside her, maintaining the exact same pace. Initially she thought nothing of it, but as she continued, she realized the man was deliberately matching her speed—slowing when she slowed, accelerating when she accelerated, and staying close beside her. Even when she completed a lap and ran an additional loop around Suan Lum to verify her suspicions, he remained at her side. When she finally headed back toward Suan Ben, he continued following her out of the park and onto a connecting bridge. By this time it was nearly 9 PM, the bridge was dimly lit, and she could see his shadow trailing her throughout. Her phone battery died, so she activated an emergency contact from her smartwatch. As she descended the S-curve bridge back into Suan Ben, she saw him pause, appearing exhausted after running the full 10 kilometers with her, but he continued pursuing her nonetheless. Growing increasingly alarmed and unable to find any security officers, she began running faster. The park was nearly empty and it was getting dark. Fortunately, she ran into a friend, and only then did the man finally stop following her. She couldn't clearly remember his face but describes him as a tall, thin man wearing glasses, long hair, and a cap. She has no idea what would have happened if she hadn't encountered her friend by chance. Since the recent Hyrox running trend, many new runners have been training in the area, making it impossible to know who anyone is. She's posting this warning to alert other female runners to stay vigilant during this time.
