Uthairani residents endure cloudy, foul-smelling water for two months; local administration buys tap water from neighboring areas as interim solution
Residents of a Wang Hin village in Uthai Thani have suffered cloudy, foul-smelling water for two months after the local pump well collapsed. The subdistrict administration is buying water from neighboring areas and installing storage tanks
Residents of Moo 4, Wang Hin subdistrict in Ban Rai district, Uthai Thani province, have endured cloudy, foul-smelling tap water that causes skin itching for over two months. The village water management committee claimed it lacks funds to repair the collapsed pump well, forcing them to draw water from an unfiltered agricultural well that produces rusty, discolored water with unpleasant odor. After residents filed complaints with Theerachai Buapratoom, the subdistrict headman, he assigned Deputy Chief Sukthanyakarn Nilcham to urgently assist the community. The subdistrict administration is purchasing water from neighboring areas at 150 baht per trip and delivering it to residents, while coordinating with local officials to acquire eight 2,000-liter water tanks to be installed on an elevated platform serving over 100 households. Water will be distributed during morning and evening hours initially. The headman has also convened an emergency budget meeting with all village representatives to allocate up to 500,000 baht for upgrading the Moo 4 water system, with Village Chief Chatri Bangbunrit overseeing the project handover.
